This has been happening for over one and a half year. Been borrowing from one app to pay another and once you pay, the limit is increased so I borrow again and the cycle continues till I got hooked now. Been searching for how to borrow from other apps not listed there but most of them refuses to lend me cash

See, I don't really blame you. I blame the moderator that brought your first thread to the front page. In some cases, the moderators have the responsibility of carrying out there own due diligence in obtaining facts from the thread creator before moving such to the front page for the whole world to see. Imagine damaging the name of a brand in front of almost 3 million nairaland registered users and million more that are not registered. This is not nice. Going forward, I think lessons have been learnt and this shouldn't repeat itself in the future

A colleague wants to use my phone to borrow loan from one of these loan apps( fairmoney) because he doesn't have a smart phone. He will download the app, register with his details, collect the loan, then i can delete the app. Please is there any harm in that? Make i no go enter trouble say i one help person.

Before making this post, the person started the process but could not complete it due to paystack error,he went to bank to sort that out yesterday and has called me to pls come today, this is when i started having double mind. Can i just delete the app (I already granted those permission they requested).

Since your friend will register with his own details i.e phone number, bvn, full name, address,contact person etc, you only have one problem (not a problem per say), access to your own private information on your phone which is your contacts, messages, files, phone records etc. Now, the loan company will assume that your friend is registering with is own phone number so your phone private information will be stored in there data base as your friends information. If your friends name is Olaitan Bakare with registered phone number 08012345678 and he default in making repayment, the loan company will start sending messages to your own contacts (since they assume it's your friends contact) that Olaitan Bakare with phone number 08012345678 borrowed loan from our company and have refused to pay. He is behaving fraudulently and we advice you inform him to pay immediately else he will be arrested and legal actions will be taken against him. Now your own contacts that received such messages would be wondering who Olaitan Bakare is except if you have a mutual friend on your contact that knows Olaitan Bakare. The good thing is that both you and your friends image is protected because your name wouldn't be sent to your contacts as the defaulter and your contacts too don't know who Olaitan Bakare is.

If you don't want them to send derogatory messages to your contacts calling you a thief, stay away from the following loan apps: Gocash, Sokolaon,Fastcash, 9jacash,Gocash. They are all the same company and they will tanish your image

And Sokoloan have refuse to stop sending derogatory messages to my contacts. In one of the messages sent, they even call me a "thief"

All my sisters called me that they got a message from sokoloan about the loan I took. It dropped on my mums number and I saw it because I'm with the phone. My Dad told me he also got the messages and wondered why I have to collect loan from them. Same with my cousins including the two sons of my senior sister age 10 and 7. Some friends forwarded the message to me on WhatsApp (about 6 of them) and I know a good number of them will just ignore it. They sent it to my second number which is part of the number I stored on why phone.

Nothing to lament on. What worst can they do again? They have dent my image and if I pay them back, how will I thing the perception people have about me? Remember, once you settle them, they move on and don't tell your contacts that you have settled them.

2.If the rates are too high for you, don't take a loan from these companies. They are, after all profit making enterprises, not charity houses.

3.Also, you can take a loan from family and friends. They won't charge you high interest rates

4.Petition your representative to get CBN to tighten its rules on fintech lending.

For me, I'm not even talking about the high interest rate because yes I saw it before applying. My issue is why would they send derogatory messages to clients contact? What point are they trying to make? Disgrace the client or make the client pay? Those messages have a long term impact on how people perceive you just because of a few cash. If I am not willing to pay, then it's a different thing but I just needed 3-4 more days and that's what I told the loan agent but he doesn't care and doesn't want to listen to me. He just went ahead to send messages to my contact.

I wasn't planning to default and I made effort to ensure I make repayment before due date but some issues came up that didn't make me meet up and I spoke to them about it. Only for the guy to say they would disgrace me and he hanged the call. Few minutes after, he started sending messages to my contacts.
They have done the worst and continual texting my contacts wouldn't make any difference anymore to me. I am willing to see how this whole process ends

I don't blame you. Don't worry, when life bits you very hard then you will understand. Since I have been using loan apps, I have never defaulted. This just happened to be like this and not like I wasn't willing to pay. I just needed some little more time which I explained to them still they messaged my contacts. They don't deserve to be paid again after disgracing me

I begged them when they called earlier that I'll pay max Friday and that if I don't pay, they should take actions but the guy just laughed and said he will disgrace me & ended the call.
