jinglesbaby: Hi guys,
I have uploaded all the necessary CIC forms online but I cannot find any link to upload more docs. I need to upload marriage cert, soa of spouse et all, where is the link? Also, is it compulsory to include a letter of explanation? Have pple gotten TRV's w/o adding a letter of explanation? I would not want to be denied because I did not inlude it in my application. Thanks y'all for your kind assistance Just wanted to add one thing to what the latest respondent to your question said. Like the SOA u used as an example of documents you needed to add. Please add SOA under the means of financial support except its not instrumental (primarily) to your financial support then the respondent might be right. Just an idea. On same stream though. Good luck. |

Congrats to all those that their application was approved. For those that were delayed its not the end of the road. Emphatically I will like u to tell us your experiences step by step. To be specific, could you tell me how many notifications u receive after your biometrics.
I just submitted mine couple of days ago. Instantly I got 3 emails. After my biometrics same day I got another one informing me that my application has been updated. Though I checked my application but couldn't see any update.
Please is that usual?
Away from question, I will advise anyone coming for Fall to hasten up or else plan of deferring his admission because its almost late with regards to the stipulated processing time for applicants from Nigeria.
Good look to all. |

meekmk: Okay.. The question now is.. Sincce I submitted my application already.. Can I go ahead and do my medicals even though it hasn't been requested for.. And if so.. Where? No. Wait until u get the request |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 10 by CSSPATRICK: 3:05pm On Jun 14, 2016 |
meekmk: Hi Everyone.. I recently submitted my application.
What does upfront medical mean? Does it mean I should do my medicals in advance or its the name of an hospital or something.. Regardless, how to I go about it? Question!! your first option is correct but only applies if the medical is done b4 submitting your application. |

thesoj: Good points! Just looked at your posting history and I see you go to Utrecht University... nice one... what do you study? Is university ranking / rating important at all? |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 10 by CSSPATRICK: 12:11am On Jun 14, 2016 |
thesoj: Ranking matters a lot, I agree. But only to an extent. If you are looking to do a research-based degree, then ranking is very important. Ranking may still not tell you about the strength of an institution in your specific area of research though. For example, a school ranked #50 globally may be better at electrical engineering than another school ranked #15 globally. If you are not into doing research, then global ranking is not as relevant. These rankings are almost exclusively based on research and academic publications NOT teaching quality.
Ranking does matter if you do care about school name recognition though; name recognition can help when you are looking for a job especially if your job search is not limited to the city where your school is located. But in some cases, a lower ranked school may have much a more practical education and a lot more connections with industry, thus potentially making it easier to get a job.
Ranking is not the be-all end-all. A school where you are most likely to succeed is almost always the best option. Also keep in mind that ranking won't necessarily tell you about what academic resources would be available at the school. Many average ranked schools have a whole lot of resources and more than comfortable facilities; these schools have brilliant professors and students too.
**I schooled in a globally unranked university and thereafter at a top-30 globally ranked university (both in the US). May I know where u school sir? |

yemdogg: Bro you're probably right. But judging by the info on their website it's quite cheap except if the info on their website is outdated or does not reflect the true position of things. Pls do check their fee schedule for masters on their website.
But ultimately since you said you're currently admitted at u of Ottawa then I take a bow.
Wow 21k cad is quite expensive. Are u funded ?
Furthermore, ranking of University sometimes doesn't really reflect the competitive nature of admission of a particular institution. Sometime environmental factors weigh in. For instance, u of Ottawa is located in the province of Ontario that has plenty of institutions, consequently students going to Ontario has quite a lot of choices, depending on the program u r going though. Now try and compare it to province with very few institutions, invariably students have fewer options to choose from that province.
It is cogent to point out the fact that this is just a theory and therefore it doesn't necessarily reflect the true position of things. But since you're admitted to the school u r probably more vast than I am in this subject.
I am quite appreciative of the fact that u of Ottawa is one of the rated institutions in Canada. I did my research.
Cheers Thank you for your critical Analysis. However, don't forget that Carleton university is also in the same city with UofO but never comes close to UofO in rating, hope u don't see this as an attempt to refute ur claim. The estimated tuition as it appears on the university website is absolutely correct. What u see there is for one semester. The UofO school of graduate studies runs a three semester system, quite different from their undergraduate school. In addition to that, there is a differential fee attached for non- exempt students. So u can multiple it by 3 and see what it gives. Ultimately, i thank you for the reservations. I am not funded. Though the program design is great.Respect. |

Avalon316: My cgpa isn't 2.2 . It is 3.05/5 . Want to try uottawa. You think the cgpa is too low for Uottawa? I also have more than 8 years post study experience in Civil engineering I notice one tangible misconception here. Often times, I have read people give a false information about UOttawa. Some say cheap, least competitive etc. I am indifferent of ones choice of university and program but would always advise prospective students to do some research about their program and faculty / university. UofO is a member of the G13 and U15, association of research intensive universities in Canada. I am currently admitted for Masters degree program so I tell u that the tuition per yr is around 21k CAD. It would interesting to know that UofO is highly competitive and can never be compared with UofM, Carleton University etc. UofO is at pair closely with UofC and the likes, instead. Check the world ranking of Canadian universities on QS world universities ranking, times educational ranking and so on, then u would be better prepare. |

debopopson: Hello guys,
Kindly assist, i am to go on a short training to the United Kingdom, However, the processing time in Nigeria for canada student visa is 14weeks, which means if i submit my passport i will not be able to go again.
However, i am to go to canada against August/september admission, the processing time in the United kingdom is 2 weeks. Can i apply from London? I will advise you to apply via online route if you are returning to Nigeria say 1 or 2 months time. This will allow u to travel pending when u get passport request mail. |

vinegar: Go to studio 24 @wuse 2 or Gwarinpa (which ever is close to you). They will send the soft copy to your phone. Thanks so much. Actually I got it from the CIC collection / submission centre. What fail to ask the person that attended to me is how to upload it. As am going to scan it the instruction says that; you should make sure resolution is not less than 600 pixels per inch. This is confusing to me. Please throw more light on this. |
