Business / P&G Partners Ogun Government by csteve: 9:27am On Mar 08, 2020
A leading consumer goods company in Nigeria, Procter & Gamble, has reiterated its commitment to reduce infant mortality and promote child health in Nigeria through its recently announced partnership with the Ogun State government. This partnership between P&G and Ogun State aims to encourage more children to be immunised and as such contribute to improving the health outcomes of over 10,000 babies in the state through P&G’s donation of over 400,000 Pampers® diapers. This announcement was made at the official flag off event held at Igbogila Primary Health Care Centre, Ogun State.

P&G’s citizenship programmes in Nigeria are focused on delivering health, hygiene, and education programmes to the populace. With this partnership, the company will support Ogun state primary health development board and the Office of the First Lady on their drive to improve child health and hygiene of over 10,000 more infants through increased immunisation in the state.

Speaking about the partnership, the P&G Africa Director for Government Relations and Public Policy, Dr. (Mrs.) Temitope Iluyemi, said, “At P&G, we deliver our promise to make everyday life just a little bit better for our consumers. Our brand is dedicated to every baby’s happy, healthy development. This is why we are thankful to the Ogun State government for this partnership to improve the health and hygiene of over 10,000 more infants in the state by increasing immunisation rates in areas with historically low rates. P&G aims to be a force for good and a force for growth in the communities where we live and work. Our operations have generated over 4,000 jobs and through our citizenship programmes, we touch over five million Nigeria lives,” Iluyemi added.

Agriculture / Re: If watermelon is so profitable, why are farmers not cultivating it commercially? by csteve: 2:54pm On Jun 21, 2019
It takes experience to know. Don't be deceived. You will never make 3million from 1 acre tomatoes. Yes it's more profitable than watermelon, but is very perishable and stressful too.

Watermelon is needs little capital. We spent 70k on our farm and it returned 340. Not much but it's up to 300% return

Sports / Virgil Van Dijk Wins PFA Player Of The Year Award Beating Manchester City Star by csteve: 5:48pm On Apr 24, 2019
Virgil Van Dijk will be named PFA Players’ Player of the Year on Thursday after beating Raheem Sterling to the award.

The Liverpool centre-half, who has played a key role in the Reds’ title challenge, has beaten Manchester City’s England star to the prize, after impressing his peers during an immaculate campaign.

The £75million defender was on a six-man shortlist including Sterling, his Anfield teammate Sadio Mane, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and two more City players, Sergio Aguero and Bernardo Silva.

Van Dijk has played a huge part in shoring up the Reds’ defence in his first full season at Anfield.

The Holland international has proven himself a centre-back maintain, with the likes of Joe Gomes and Joel Matip rotating to line up alongside him.

Liverpool have lost just one game this season with the Dutchman at the back, and have conceded the least amount of goals in the league – 20.

Van Dijk revealed earlier in the week that he had voted for his closest competition to win the award, Citizens’ forward Sterling.

Sterling however didn’t return the favour and instead voted for his England international team-mate Harry Kane.

The Manchester City forward said: “It’s nice to be recognised on that front but, to be honest, if we don’t win the Premier League, I don’t really want to be in contention.

“What I want to do is win the Premier League, win the FA Cup, then think about stuff like that, even though the awards are before that. Without that, it doesn’t mean much to me, really.

“I voted for Harry Kane. My vote for him is because he scores so many goals every year, he does so much for the team, gives so much for his team.

“There was a lot of talk about Virgil van Dijk. I knew he would have a lot of the votes, so I looked at someone I thought being around him in the national team, how he puts in his work, his work ethic, how he looks after himself.

“He’s always there, especially coming back from injury, as a professional I looked at him and that’s my reason for voting for him, seeing him on a day-to-day with the national team.”

Romance / Couple Born In Same Hospital On Same Day Are Now Getting Married by csteve: 4:04pm On Apr 21, 2019
@Naijapost.ng

A couple who were born in the same hospital on the same day are now set to get married 26 years later.

Shauna Gracey and Tom Maguire were both born on 22 December 1992, just hours – and metres – apart from each other in Wigan, Greater Manchester.

After they were introduced to one another by a mutual friend, Tom says he was instantly smitten. But sadly the feeling wasn’t mutual, and despite his attempts to chat her up over social media, Shauna wasn’t interested – so much so that at one point she even told Tom: “Leave me alone.” Ouch.

Fast forward a few months and the pair crossed paths again; this time they ended up having a drunken smooch. Shauna still wasn’t convinced, though, and it took a few months of grafting before Tom finally won her over.

Now, eight years later, the pair are just a fortnight away from their big day.

Shauna said: “From the get-go Tom was so keen. He was adamant we were going to be together and would tell me he loved me.

“I told him that we were just friends and that we would never end up together, I just wasn’t interested.

“But one night we were out and I just looked over and saw him and thought, ‘Oh my God, I really like him.’

“We’ve been together eight years now and I couldn’t be happier, he really is one in a million.

“Now more than ever I feel like it was fate that we met.”

She added: “I think it’s so nice that we were born on the same day in the same place.

“I love telling people and seeing their reactions.”

Shauna says as they got to know each other, they eventually figured they had been born at the same hospital – the now-closed Billinge Hospital – on the same day.

“The story of how we met is definitely weird,” Tom said.

“I think all the funny coincidences make the relationship that extra bit special, definitely.

“People we speak to about it love to hear the story.”

Crime / Nigeria Woman Arrested In Hong Kong With Cocaine In Condoms Hidden In Her Vagina by csteve: 1:16pm On Apr 21, 2019
@Naijapost.ng

Customs officials in Hong Kong have arrested a Nigerian woman who landed at the Hong Kong International Airport on Thursday with more than half a kilogramme of cocaine hidden in her body, South China Morning Post is reporting.

According to the Hong Kong-headquartered Asian paper, the 37-year-old, who claimed to be a businesswoman, arrived in the city on a flight from Lagos via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

She was said to be acting suspiciously, shortly after her arrival on Thursday, hence she was taken to hospital for a check-up that confirmed she had foreign objects in her body.

“She was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei for a check-up and confirmed to have foreign objects in her body,” the paper said.

“Officers first recovered 215 grams of cocaine contained in condoms and plastic bags found in her vagina. She later discharged 24 capsules of cocaine, each weighing 14 grams, from her body.

“The haul, weighing 550 grams in total, was estimated to be worth HK$522,000 (US$66,900). The authorities said the woman, who was detained for inquiries, may discharge more drugs.”

Under Hong Kong’s Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, the maximum penalty for drug trafficking is life imprisonment and a HK$5 million fine.

Career / All You Need To Know About Going For Nigerian Navy DSSC [personal Experience] by csteve: 10:10pm On Oct 24, 2018
If you wish to join the Nigerian Navy through the Direct short service commission, here are few things I wish to let you know from my personal experience.

Last year 2017, I applied for Dssc course 25 towards the end of my NYSC and from my state I was among the last 10 that made the final Interview, unfortunately I was not short listed on the final list. *painful shaa* *but I was satisfied I didn't even know I would go far*

The Mindset:
Now you need to believe that you have a chance when applying.

Applying:
To Apply, just get the form filled at www.joinnigeriannavy.com .. No special thing about filling the form, the referee doesn't matter. Anyone without criminal record is OK.
Print Your form, it must not be coloured, don't waste your money.

Filling The Form:
Fill all the required information in the form, get the police certification and L.G A certification. For the Guarantors form, don't waste your time waiting for the area commander to sign or a senior military officer, it doesn't matter, Any Civil servant upto level 16 in state service can sign it. A school principal can sign it.

After filling the form, photocopy it and keep, just in case of anything.

Preparing For The Exam:
OK, to even go for the physical screening and further screening at lagos you need to pass the first exam.

you have to read current affairs, read as much as you can, know about recent political affairs around the world, just read current affairs generally.

Then For the maths and English, someone told me what to read and it worked like magic, I hope it works again. Get the latest or the latest two versions of GMAT and Read. Read it well well, in fact cram it!

Then pray that God see you through.

Going To the Exam:
Just dress well, A Jean and polo is OK, Go early but be assured you won't start till its afternoon.

the exam will last maybe 1hr or less, obey their instructions. Go with writing materials.

They will verify your documents before the exam, if your result is less than 2:1(second class upper) don't waste your time going, they won't let you in.

When shading the answers, be as fast as you can.

GoodLuck

Next Stage!
If you passed the exam, your name will be short listed in a list of 20-30 names per state, inviting you for further screening at lagos.

Congratulations!

Going For The Screening :
Now you are closer! get ready to feel like you will get the job *lol*

In the short list on their website, you will see requirements, if possible buy the things you need before going, if you can't, don't worry much, everything is sold at the Gate there.

Go with your bed sheet, toiletries, cutlery and Money.

You will stay in students hostel, Go with a bag you can lock if possible.

Early Days:
On arrival they will first get your data.

Followed by certificate and documents verification.

*Dont worry, the will feed you morning, Afternoon and Night, but it won't be your normal dose, but you can always buy more from sellers in the camp*

Intermediate days:
After the verification comes medicals.
During medicals, a lot of tests would be conducted, like sight, ECG, HIV, BP, X-ray, Pile, height, psychological test, dental, weight. etc.

during BP test, be calm so your BP won't rise above normal *lol*

before you go, loose weight so you won't be overweight.

Late Days:
After medicals, many many people will go! during my time we reduced from 27 to 10.

If you are lucky to pass medicals, Congratulations! You are closer to the uniform *winks*

At this point food will start to be big during meals *Enjoy*lol

Get Ready For physical test and another exam!

Physical Test:
You will run, 3.5 kilometres

They will say the time of return doesn't matter, don't kill yourself, but it matters! come back within 10minutes, 1st group, within 15minutes 2nd after that 3rd. All grouped differently with different marks

After the run, you will do push up and sit up immediately!

30 push up = 6marks (maximum point given)

anything less = 4 points

Same applies to sit ups.

Do as much as you can, but just know that points are recorded!

After the physical exercise comes another exam!

The exam:
You will be asked to write essay on how you will improve navy with your skills. (this might change)

Read current affairs too, the English and maths won't be so hard like the 1st exam. also know about navy.

Congrats, it's time for Interview!

The interview :
You will face a panel of about 15 officers, don't be intimidated, they are friendly.

They will ask you random questions, from current affairs to your field of study, it anything they like. just answer.

if you applied under education they might as you to write something on the white board.

Good luck

It's Time To Go!

They will give you all 9k for transport.

*I forgot, even if you failed medical, you will still get the money before leaving *

At least you can use it and drink beer, even if they don't employ you *hehehe*

Now Go Home and Pray!

The Truth:
You have done your best but, this is the truth, this is why I didn't get job!

Who do you know?

Out of 10 of us that made final interview only one person was short listed along side two people from their special medical enlistment.

The slots are given to senators, Generals and top politicians, your chance is almost zero! Remember about 1000-3000 people apply per state and only 3 will be taken

If you have someone that can help you, go and seek the persons help.

this is more important than anything else. beg the person even before you go for the first exam, If the person has a slot, you might be helped!

What if you fail?

Enjoy the experience and move on!

You can ask me anything! Good Luck!

Travel / Top 5 Biggest Cities In Africa by csteve: 6:08pm On Aug 12, 2018
Across the second largest continent in the world are many big cities and metropolis. In this post we look at the biggest cities in Africa using population as a yardstick for determination.

#1. Lagos, Nigeria

Lagos is a city in the Nigerian state of Lagos. The city, with its adjoining conurbation, is the most populous in Nigeria, and the most populous on the African continent.

It is one of the fastest growing cities in the world, and also one of the most populous urban agglomerations.

Lagos is a major financial centre in Africa; the megacity has the highest GDP, and also houses one of the largest and busiest ports on the continent.

#2 Cairo, Egypt

Cairo is the capital of Egypt. The city’s metropolitan area is one of the largest in Africa, the largest in the Middle East and the Arab world, and the 15th-largest in the world.

Cairo has the oldest and largest film and music industries in the Arab world, as well as the world’s second-oldest institution of higher learning, Al-Azhar University.

With a population of over 9 million spread over 3,085 square kilometers (1,191 sq mi), Cairo is by far the largest city in Egypt.

#3 Kinshasa

Kinshasa is the capital and the largest city of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The city is situated alongside the Congo River.

Once a site of fishing and trading villages, Kinshasa is now a megacity with an estimated population of more than 11 million.

Kinshasa is Africa’s third-largest urban area after Cairo and Lagos. It is also the world’s largest Francophone urban area surpassing Paris in population.

#4 Abidjan, Ivory Coast

Abidjan is the economic capital of Côte d’Ivoire and is one of the most populous French-speaking cities in Africa.

Abidjan’s has a population of about 4.7 million which makes it the fourth most populous city in Africa, after Lagos, Cairo and Kinshasa.

Because Abidjan is also the largest city in the country and the centre of its economic activity, it has officially been designated as the “economic capital” of the country.

#5 Johannesburg, South Africa

Johannesburg is the largest city in South Africa and one of the 50 largest urban areas in the world.

It is the provincial capital and largest city of Gauteng, which is the wealthiest province in South Africa.

Johannesburg, South Africa is the fifth biggest city in Africa.

Webmasters / Re: How To Apply For Google Adsense And Actually Get Approved by csteve: 11:40pm On Aug 06, 2018
Well, It took me just 3 weeks with 13 posts to get approved. All you need to do is try and be original.

I tried to get google adsense account for over 3 years with no success, some of my sites had blogs posts up to 3oo, yet no success
After reading a user,s comment at http://nichepursuit.com on how he got his adsense approved with just 3 posts, I was inspired and
determined.

So I started looking at how to improve and I discovered its quite easy to get approved. All I did was to leave my existing sites and create a blog on something I know very well ( http://givemecoconut.com ).

I started writing the same day I bought the domain, After creating 13 original posts of average length of 600 words with original photos taken with my phone, I applied for google adsense ASAP.

Behold withing 3 weeks of setting up the site and applying, it was approved

So, Adsense account can be approved in as little as 3 weeks as in my case, all you need to do is:

have privacy policy, disclaimer, About/contact, and Terms Pages on your site.

Write about 10 original contents of up 600 words.

Please let the blog be on something useful to people.

Choose a simple theme

Make sure to use your on photos (dont download from google)

Dont worry about alexa rank.. I was not ranked when I was approved.

Thanks..

Phones / 7 Tips To Improve Your Internet Speed by csteve: 6:41pm On Jul 19, 2018
@nigeriapoint.com

There is nothing more annoying than slow internet speed, be it waiting so long for a page to load or for a download to complete.

Even if your network provider has assured you a very fast internet speed, you can still enhance your internet speed with some few checks.
Tips for a faster internet speed

To enhance and improve your internet speed, here are a few checks to get you going.

1. Make sure your computer or phone is free from virus or malware. Malware infections can lead to slow and sluggish system performance and can lead to slow internet speed and hangups.

2. Make sure your computer’s Ethernet card or Wi-Fi card is fast enough to support the maximum speeds of both your Internet connection and router. If not, you can install either an inexpensive Gigabit Ethernet Adapter Card to bring your system’s network capabilities up to speed.

3. Change network service provider. most times, some network providers don’t deliver the internet speed they promise. So you might consider changing network provider when you have slow internet speed.

4. Try different web browsers to see which loads your favourite websites the faster.

Simply changing your browser can make a big difference in how fast your favorite sites will load. This is because some browsers handle different Internet technologies more efficiently than others.

I personally recommend Chrome browser or Mozilla Firefox for PC uses and Opera for phone users.

5. Consider changing your location. Some places have better internet speed than others, when your internet speed is slow, you might consider changing your location.

If you must stay in your current location then your should apply the check in NO.4 above.

6. Periodically clear your web browser’s cache. Corrupted files stored in the browser cache can cause problems ranging from sluggish browser performance to hanging websites to overall system instability.

7. Finally, if you have done all the above checks and still have slow internet speed, you can call your network provider and ask them why you are having slow speed.

To check your internet speed, visit www.fast.com

In conclusion, fast internet is every internet user wish, so use all the checks above to enhance your internet experience.
