It goes to show most of us don't understand the problem at hand. Will she increase the price of oil to over 100 dollars or diversify the economy overnight?
She cannot improve price of oil, true. But she has the pedigree and the global clout to attract much needed FDI and dollars in the country and assure them of long term gains.
Nigeria needs solid investments. We were the third largest in the world under iweala, now it is not even in Africa's top 10 destinations for real investments.
It is no longer a question of oil.

Truly we Nigerians are BAD student of history! We can be likened to the Israelites of those days...when God decided to take them away from Egypt(captivity), through wilderness to canaan(promise land)..they cried and wailed..claiming to be better off in Egypt..

Same thing is happening now, we have been crying for diversification..now we are in a situation were we can painfully, but slowly diversify..we are crying! We are paying for recklessness in embezzlement and lack of vision on the part of our past leaders.. Longing for a government official that kept giving us an utopia Nigeria on paper..despite the oil bloom, nothing to show for it...

I can imagine how she would be laughing @ how gullible majority of citizens of her country are..
Your non-oil sector has shrinked from what it was in the past.
FDI has dropped rapidly. So Nigeria was actually diversifying at a more rapid pace before. I am sure you can't compare adeshina's agricultural exploits to whatever buhari has now in audu ogbeh.
Now there is no more diversification. Not with your president searching for more free oil reserves. Just more suffering.

Why did you prefer manufacturing to importing?

I have passion for innovation. As an engineer, I do not believe that trading is the way forward. Engineers believe that trading does not build the economy of any country; it is through innovative manufacturing and application of the latest technology. Manufacturing is the heartbeat of any economy; without manufacturing, the economy will be stagnant and may collapse under global market pressures. Trading is just a short-term engagement; manufacturing is long-term.

You can imagine the amount of joy you have when you see your products in other countries all over the world. It enhances Nigeria’s good image all over the world.

This is not significant and definitely not revolutionary. I can as well pick a few Igbo erudite engineers and put here. That is definitely not a proof of an engineering culture.
The local electronic market in Nigeria is dominated by aba and Nnewi manufacturers. From wires to transistors to stabilizers to electric meters, to various kinds of heavy automobile parts engineered and reversed engineered and then mass produced.
That is what it means to have an technical culture and an engineering aptitude, not picking random names of well-fed theoretical professors that schooled abroad.
Even the most illiterate people on earth can boast of a few names.

I want to be able to go to any part of Naija n assume my investments are safe, my interests protected and my security guaranteed! When I hear my supposed brothers insisting on going their separate ways, after welcoming them in my home, its a betrayal!

An Igboman n a Yorubaman in d UK, will be termed Nigerians and quite separate from Ghanians, we are blood brothers, birthed together.

Demanding biafra is a rejection of d hand of fellowship, of brotherhood. If we are to av any beef, it should be btw us n d northerners, who av several times ejected us from their lands!

I'm beginning to develop hatred for Igbos, d same way I will develop for a brother who inspite of opening my home and heart to, insists on remaining selfish, self-centered and ungrateful! Now he has found wealth, he now remembers he has a home he wants only for himself?!

Instead of quietly migrating back home and developing biafra to a world destination, he is insisting on separating entirely?! Left to me, u can go, I always had brains now I've learnt ruthless biz acumen from u.

I speak for myself, anyway!
The fact that you actually believe igbos should plan their future based on what yorubas think and feel shows how deluded you are and how fake your so-called love is.
Igbo race is bigger than most nations in population. That you expect them to defer to the desires of another ethnic is stupid.
A new nation doesn't mean a foreigner's investment will not be safe. That is a rotten excuse.

Oga google the uli airport n others it's on record France sold weapons to the biafrans

To make steel ain't easy u need the right equipments biafran govt made alot of money from oil b4 d blockade on oil shipments thus biafran forces used 'normal' local refining techniques...which they hype till today smh

Anyway the oil money finished and France stopped doing business #simple

Bullets ain't free.

Google the Israeli blockade of Palestine , what awolowo did was not a crime , the biafran forces were using it to not only get food aid but weapons too.
Let me even further agree that france managed to sell weapons to Biafra in a hidden manner. It doesn't change much.
The bulk of biafran weapons were built in biafran land.
This is your FG attesting to that.

That you believed the French can get a pie from America is funny.
America was and is the world power. Nobody gets a piece from them.
If the French actually had a hope of getting a piece, then they would actively supported Biafra like Britain did Nigeria.
France just wanted a weak anglophone Nigeria that is all. They didn't stick their necks out for it.

The west already had control of Nigeria's resources through shell and co, so I don't really know what conspiracy theory you are trying to spin.
It was the tomfoolery of gowon in not accepting the aburi accord that led to al this nonsense, not all this western conspiracy BS.

Ofcourse, ojukwu hired mercenaries from many parts of the world including Ethiiopia, gabon, Haiti and many parts of the world as fighters and strategists. That is not a point of argment.
They did not bring much or any significant technology with them. Nigeria was supported by both the east and the western powers. Any tech transfer would be confiscated by the CIA and co.
Even Nigeria is currently hiring mercenaries from south Africa in the war against BH.

truth be told, the biafran war is a proxy war fought by the west in nigeria. all the weaponry you see used by both sides were supplied by the west to whichever side they were supporting. its not unlike what you see today with america supplying isis with sophisticated weapons and pretending that isis is the enemy while using isis and co to fight proxy wars in syria. there is nothing new under the sun. no weaponry that found its way into nigeria during the biafran war was created in nigeria. it was assembled in nigeria however.
If the west supplied Biafra weapons, then there is no evidence of that yet. It does not make sense too.
They had oil interests to protect so Biafra was like a fly in the ointment.

Wow!

Igbos are too much!!!

My question remains did the Biafrans build these war machines in readiness for the impending war or did they build it under the pressure of necessity during the war years?

Because if the Biafrans engineers were able to accomplish such feat under such a short period between the period of Ojukwu's announcement of secession in 1967 and end of the civil war in 1970, then it is a very big shame to Biafra and the entire Nigerian engineers and Nigeria as a whole that almost five decades since that war, we still cannot provide our citizens with CONSTANT POWER SUPPLY. embarassed embarassed embarassed
It bores down to homogeneity in purpose and people. There is a reason why America is the only real example of a developed country where diversity becomes strength. Diversity is a big pain and a weakness.
Also ojukwu was a brilliant military leader that knew how to motivate and marshall resources to get results. Nigeria has not gotten such in like forever.

Have u forgotten France supplied weapons and armory parts to biafra?

Ya'll should keep deceiving yaselves tho... go and ask the Japan if in hindsight they would have supported hitler.

They lost ALL their territories to the allied forces the map below shows present Japan in red and former colonies in yellow

Comparing a super power like america- Japan to biafra -nigeria context was so laughable I didn't even bother to comment on that particular thread
France wanted Biafra for obvious francophone reasons, but could not really do much due to british and American support to Nigeria.
The Cameroon president too made a deal with Nigeria and received bakassi as part of its territory to prevent it falling into biafran control which was then totally sealed. If there was a means of weapons transfer in to biafran territory, then millions of people would not have starved to death and awolowo would not have used it as a means of war given the obvious futility.

Ojukwu wherever he is must envy south sudan. How they manage their independence in backward black africa is nothing short of a miracle even with all the cost .
And Biafra was probably and infinitely more deserving, more prepared and fitting of a new nation state than south sudan ever was. Fate can be strange.

On a serious note, the Nigerian security apparatus are a bleeding disgrace. The crudeness alone is just vomit inducing.
It is hard to believe they have such technically gifted people as citizens. Even the fact that ojukwu and his team could dream and attempt stuffs like modular refineries,Tanks and an under-water submarine system just shows how they shitt on Nigeria, who were probably still thinking of how to pay Egyptians to fly their imported MIGs.
Extrapolating biafran ingenuity of the 60s to 2016, we are talking of atleast a medium level technological power like southafrica , Egypt or even south korea.

Comparing America to yorubaland is funny.
America is a nation of immigrants. Everybody is an American and owes their loyalty to America.
Lagos is not a country of immigrants. It is an ethnic state. The people there don't owe it any loyalty neither does not confer any citizenship. The igbos as well as other ethnics there just wants to hustle and send the money home to build big houses in their villages.
The rest of yorubaland is a docile fourth world enclave. The only other place there that has a bit of industrial activity is ogun state and is not even in the class of aba and Nnewi.
Btw, America is the only real success story of strength in diversity. The rest of the developed world in Europe and Asia was built on the back of homogeneity and singularity of people and ideas.
