Tinubu won most of the SW.

The only difference between them is that tinubu performed well in the north as well.

And he couldn't have done that if he was running under a party like Labour or ACN.

Seems you forgot Nigerian politics is all about money and power. With the number of states PDP is controlling, coupled with the influences of their big guns, it will only split votes in favour of APC.

Kwankwaso have been proven to be a paper tiger.

Giving him a pdp ticket would just be a waste of opportunity.

Kalu would probably do better, but he would lose woefully in the SE where he comes from.

He does not have credibility.

Even tinubu had some level of credibility(Lagos factor) however misguided, which helped him win votes.

He was never close, his votes just like Awolowo were 90% from his tribes men. How many states did he have 25%. add APC Rivers votes to Obi, and subtract from Tinubu he still comes 3rd.

And the vast majority of tinub's votes came from his own people, just like buhari as well.

Infact buhari's electoral strength came from the fact that his own people would always vote for him.

So why should that be a disadvantage to obi?

A would-be president has to win his own people, first.

Are you aware that Obi won most of the military installations in Nigeria?
Those are places where votes are the most credible.

He won lagos and Abuja with a landslide. Those are the two most diverse states in Nigeria.

The places he did not win were core north states and SW states who had their own candidates in the game.

If obi was running with a major party, he would have been able to Garner serious votes even in places he did not win just like APC did for tinubu and pdp did for atiku.

The only hindrance Obi had was that he was running on a mushroom party that could not provide either the rigging power or the spread.
