zezinando:hello, i chatted this number up. The lady (yewande) that responded (on behalf of her hubby) promised to give feedback on friday. Waited for three days only for her to tell me the job is no longer available. Got disappointed and reacted. To my greatest surprise instead of apologising, this woman changed and started blaming me of not getting the job. Can you imagine |
Between 2015 and 2020, Nigeria’s payment system received around $500 million in investments due to increased level of confidence. This was disclosed by Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele while speaking at the bank’s 31st seminar for financial correspondents and business editors in Enugu State, themed, ‘Trends in Nigeria payments system: regulating the fintech digital playing field’ Emefiele admitted that in the past few years, the sector has experienced incredible growth which the apex bank hopes to continue to support in terms of regulation and customer protection. What the CBN Governor is saying The CBN Governor, whose speech was delivered by Deputy Governor, Corporate Services, Edward Adamu, said that the payment system plays a vital role in the economy. He said, “The high level of confidence in our payment system, between 2015 and 2020, has attracted the investment of about $500m in firms run by Nigerian founders. “Studies have already shown that only 1% of fintechs have been critically affected by COVID-19 and 2% severely affected. By comparison, around 17 per cent of other high-growth companies fall into these categories. It is therefore unsurprising that many fintechs have experienced a surge in demand as working practices and customer banking habits changed. “As a country with one of the largest millennial population in the world – an estimated 62 per cent of the Nigerian population below 25 years of age, fast smartphone growth driven by increasing affordability and increasing mobile penetration and fast transition to 5G technology – Nigeria remains primed to be an active playground for digital transformation and cannot afford to ignore.” The CBN Governor indicated that significant changes in the financial industry environment will dominate the post-COVID-19 economy, and that the faster shift towards digital financial services would draw more fintech investments. This, he argued would improve financial market competition, but he added that it would necessitate more and thorough regulatory oversight. https://nairametrics.com/2021/10/07/cbn-says-nigerias-payment-system-attracted-500-million-investment-in-five-years/ |

President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan, has referred the request of President Muhammadu Buhari, seeking to borrow $4.054bn, €710m, $125m external loans to the Senate Committee on Foreign and Local Debts for further legislative action. Lawan at Tuesday’s plenary asked the Committee, chaired by Senator Clifford Ordia, to work on the Buhari’s request and submit its report next Tuesday. This directive was sequel to a motion to that effect moved by the Senate Leader, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi, and seconded by the Minority Leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe. The Senate had upon resumption from two-month annual recess last week received a formal request from President Buhari to consider and approve an external loan to fund projects captured under the 2018-2021 borrowing plan. The President in the letter explained that the projects listed in the 2018-2021 Federal Government Borrowing Plan are to be financed through sovereign loans sourced from the World Bank, French Development Agency, China-Exim Bank, International Fund for Agricultural Development, Credit Suisse Group and Standard Chatered/China Export and Credit in the total sum of $4,054,476,863.00; €710,000,000.00 and grant component of $125,000,000.00. https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2021/09/21/senate-gives-committee-one-week-to-consider-buharis-4-05bn-e710m-loan-request/ |
Local government council elections will hold December 4, says the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC). Daniel Zira, spokesman of the commission announced this on Thursday in Yola. Mr Zira said the commission shifted the election earlier slated for November 27, due to political parties’ activities which included their congresses. “Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has fixed December 4, for the local government council elections in the state. “The commission shifted the election timetable following a meeting with relevant stakeholders and political party representatives. “So far, 18 political parties have shown their interest to participate in the December elections,” Mr Zira said. During the October 2020 EndSARS protest, the commission’s stores where primary election materials were kept were looted and destroyed. https://gazettengr.com/adamawa-lg-polls-hold-in-december-adsiec/ |

Training Day 9/10 This is one exciting kind of cop drama have seen in a long while. It was quite intriguing and eventful. I felt enamored. I think this has got to be one of Denzel's class act performances with the way he ran the show from beginning to his last breath. I was impressed by what I saw. Kudos to Ethan Hawke for being a good rookie and inhibitor to the excesses of a crooked cop. I enjoyed every bit of the training including the smoking at gunpoint. |

The Duchess of Cornwall has been announced as patron of Nigeria’s first sexual assault referral centre. Camilla, who has a long-standing commitment to highlighting the work of domestic abuse and sexual assault charities in the UK and overseas, described the Mirabel Centre in Lagos as a “truly trailblazing organisation”. It was founded by Itoro Eze-Anaba in 2013 with the aim of offering a safe place for survivors of rape and sexual assault. It has provided free medical and psychosocial support to more than 6,450 survivors, ranging in age from a three-month-old baby to an 80-year-old woman. Camilla, who first heard of the centre’s work in 2018, said she was “delighted” to become their patron. She said: “It is a truly trailblazing organisation, supporting survivors of rape and sexual assault as they seek healing and justice. Their vital work means that women need no longer suffer in silence and I am deeply grateful to all Mirabel’s wonderful staff and volunteers.” The Duchess will be working with Nigerian and British Nigerian women to find ways to help the Mirabel Centre over the coming months, Clarence House said. Duchess of Cornwall hails new 'Ask for ANI' domestic abuse codeword scheme Camilla rescuing elephant project started by her late brother Ms Eze-Anaba, who founded the centre when working on domestic violence issues as a lawyer, said: "This announcement is timely considering the devastating nature of sexual violence and the increased advocacy for survivor support services which has led to an increase in the number of survivors who require the services of the centre. "The current Covid-19 pandemic has further revealed the endemic nature of sexual violence. "We have seen a huge number of children and women coming forward to report cases of sexual assault and rape. "We are confident that the support of the duchess will make a difference." Camilla, who has visited shelters and support centres around the world, is also patron of the UK domestic abuse charity SafeLives. https://www.itv.com/news/2021-09-07/camilla-becomes-new-patron-of-nigerias-first-sexual-assault-referral-centre |
