Foreign Affairs / Trump To Crack Down On Social Media Platforms After Twitter Labels His Tweets by cyrilamx(m): 2:40pm On May 27, 2020
Washington(CNN)President Donald Trump on Wednesday threatened to "strongly regulate" or even shut down social media platforms after Twitter applied a fact-check to two of his tweets this week.

Trump did not elaborate on what actions he could take. But the threat is Trump's clearest expression of intent to use the power of government to target his perceived political enemies in the private sector -- businesses that already enjoy wide latitude under the law to moderate their platforms as they see fit. And it raises the stakes for Twitter and Facebook as they grapple with Trump's misleading claims about mail-in voting and his baseless insinuations that a cable TV news host had a hand in an aide's death decades ago.

"Republicans feel that Social Media Platforms totally silence conservatives voices. We will strongly regulate, or close them down, before we can ever allow this to happen," Trump tweeted Wednesday. He went on to accuse the tech industry of trying to interfere in the 2016 election, before repeating an unfounded claim about voter fraud stemming from mail-in ballots.

"We can't let large scale Mail-In Ballots take root in our Country," Trump tweeted. "It would be a free for all on cheating, forgery and the theft of Ballots. Whoever cheated the most would win. Likewise, Social Media. Clean up your act, NOW!!!!"

Facebook and Twitter didn't immediately respond to requests for comment Wednesday.

Trump's Twitter outburst followed an unprecedented decision by the platform on Tuesday evening to apply a fact-checking label to Trump's content for the first time.

The label, which Twitter has designed to combat misinformation and unverified claims, linked to a curated page with links and summaries of articles describing how Trump's claims on mail-in ballots are unfounded.

Shortly after the labels were applied, Trump took to Twitter to claim the company "is interfering in the 2020 Presidential Election" and "stifling FREE SPEECH." He added that he "will not allow it to happen!"

But Twitter's fact-checking decision raised further questions about whether it would apply the same treatment to Trump's misleading claims about Lori Klausutis, the aide to former Rep. Joe Scarborough, a prominent critic of Trump. In recent days, Trump has leveled unsubstantiated allegations at Scarborough suggesting he was responsible for Klausutis's death. The claims have been undermined by the official autopsy, which found Klausutis had an undiagnosed heart condition. Klausutis's husband, Timothy Klausutis, reiterated that in a letter to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey last week, saying that Trump's claims denigrated the memory of his wife for perceived political gain.

Twitter has told CNN Business that it will not be removing the tweets about Scarborough.

Long-standing complaints from conservatives

Trump and conservatives have long complained that tech platforms algorithmically censor right-wing voices. The claims derive from a perception that Silicon Valley's largely left-leaning workforce has designed social media products to discriminate against conservatives, though the companies strongly deny the allegations.

Some executives, like Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, have sought to accommodate conservative voices by meeting with them privately, and even meeting with Trump himself.

Trump has previously suggested that the US government could take action against media he dislikes. Last year, the White House set up a website to solicit complaints from the public about tech companies' perceived political bias, and Trump has called for an examination of NBC's television license, even though it does not have one.

Earlier this month, Trump tweeted: "The Radical Left is in total command & control of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Google," and promised, without specifics, that his administration would "remedy this illegal situation." Following that tweet, The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump has considered establishing a White House commission to study allegations of conservative bias.

Privately, officials from the Federal Trade Commission and Federal Communications Commission have expressed concerns about a prior proposal from the White House to appoint those agencies as direct regulators of political content on social media.

Meanwhile, major tech industry players remain under federal and state antitrust investigation. But antitrust probes tend to be highly technical and are usually limited to the impact of corporate conduct on competition in the marketplace.

Romance / My Choleric Sister's Action Pushed Me To Start Sleeping With Her Husband. by cyrilamx(m): 3:04am On May 27, 2020
A young Lady tweeted this piece to a Twitter Handle seeking for counselling. Enjoy reading!

I started sleeping with my sister's husband out of pity
Yes, it was out of pity at the beginning before somehow i have landed myself in a mess right now
You need to hear my story Brother Gbenga, you really need to tell my story!
My sister was a choleric, the type that rated moneyabove many other things

She had a shop, a shoe and bags outfit that she treated like her life project
I came into the family as a help at the shop, even though my sister was my older sister of the same father and mother!
She was eleven years older than I am and came to lie to my parents that she wanted to take me to Abuja to put me in school
I was in the village and I liked my life there
I was with my parents who loved me and made sure I didn't lack anything

As soon as I got to Abuja, my sister told me the academic session was half done and I would have to wait until the next term before she would put me in school
I was 15 years old and she didn't see it as unfit for her to convert me to her sales girl
Later during that period I overheard her telling her friend that she had to pick me from the village because I was her blood She said if i stole her money it wouldn't be as painful as it would be if an outsider stole it

Her friend told her it was a wise decision
By this time it was becoming obvious to me that my sister didn't plan to enroll me in school
She just wanted to use me without a care for my
future

When i called my parents to report to them what was going on, my sister denied everything!
She came home that day and beat me badly, she said I stole her money and wanted to return to the village to spend it
She called the police and I was locked up overnighthusband that bailed me out the next morning

I told her husband I didn't steal anything
he said he knew, it was my sister's style of punishment to break stubborn employees
Her husband said he had thought my sister would treat me much better than he treated the other sales girls
it was herhusband that bailed me out the next morning
I told her husband I didn't steal anything
he said he knew, it was my sister's style of punishment to break stubborn employees
Her husband said he had thought my sister would treat me much better than he treated the other sales girls that had worked with her in the past

My sister's husband was a soft-spoken gentleman who had a strong sense of responsibility
He promised that he would enroll me in school the following term and he did so despite my elder sister's protests that since I just came to Abuja from the village i cannot cope with the demands of a city school.

From the day I had the effrontery to follow her husband to the boarding school, she washed her hands off me.
She stopped talking to me and whenever i speak to her she will just turn her head away and act as if i was a ghost Her husband took full responsibility for me until i finished my secondary school. My parents didn't know this. To them my sister was spending money on me and keeping her promise. When i finished secondary school, my sister's husband ensured i gained admission into the University He spent quite a lot of money

I cannot lie to you, he treated me the way an older brother will treat his sister and he was a very responsible man
After my 100 level, i went to their house for my holidays, i noticed something had changed!
My sister had moved out of their room and was sleeping in the guest room during the night!
I didn't say anything at first but when ASUU went on strike and i noticed it didn't stop, i asked my sister's husband one day what was going on
(They have been married for eleven years without a child)

He explained that they went for some tests at the hospital and it was discovered that he was the one with the problem! he said since that day my sister moved out of the room to punish him for wasting her time for the past 11 years and was considering what her next move will be! Sir, this man is a good man I think that discussion was a mistake or perhaps it was too intimate not to have the repercussion that has brought us here. A few days after we had that discussion, he started looking at me that way, you know...
I cannot lie, I know my sister is vindictive and very wicked

That good man was suffering
The day after he gave me that look, he asked me if i would like to move to another relative's house (My Aunt lives in Kubwa). He assured me that he would still pay my fees but his thoughts towards me had suddenly become carnal. I told him I noticed that too

I packed my bags that evening
My sister returned home from her shop and walked past me to where her husband was seated in the sitting room!
She started screaming "Shameless man, paper frog, that's how you sat down and wasted my time with your dead semen, you better go and hang yourself and die!
If you die i will have something to show for twelve years of my life or do you want me to leave this house empty handed? Is that your plan? Drink sniper and die or hang yourself on that ceiling fan!"

Brother Gbenga, I am not making an excuse sir, my heart cut at that moment!
Thirty minutes later, my sister reemerged from the room fully dressed. She picked her car keys and left the house. As soon as she left, her husband got on his feet and started pacing up and down, talking to himself. I cannot tell if he wanted to commit suicide or not but i felt he was very disturbed
I went to meet him, i held his hands and hugged him
He hugged me tightly for a very long time and then he started crying
Everything that happened was natural from there
He kissed my ears and then my lips and well, our clothes said goodbye.

That was the first day
I didn't leave after then, I cannot say why. I stayed and took care of him and slept with him
I was confirmed pregnant at the start of the lockdown in April, two months pregnant!
We didn't take precautions because we knew his sperm was dead! It was a shock!

He moved me out of the house immediately, he rented a place for me at the beginning of May
Nobody in my family knows what is going on, but I am determined to keep this baby and if possible keep the man!
He is having a crisis of conscience and wondering what his friends and church people will say.

I know my sister will raise hell but I would rather she raised it in my absence. All i need now is your counsel. What do you think i should do about settling the family crisis here and how can you help?
God bless you brother Gbenga, Thank you for being you!

Crime / Re: Man Dies After Pleading With Officer Attempting To Detain Him In Minneapolis by cyrilamx(m): 1:41am On May 27, 2020
The state public safety bureau said investigators would like to speak with anyone who recorded or witnessed the incident. The bureau would be sharing its findings with the FBI and presenting the completed investigation to the Hennepin County attorney's office for review.

"What we saw was horrible, completely and utterly messed up," Mayor Jacob Frey said of the video during the news conference. "I believe what I saw, and what I saw was wrong at every level."

"This man's life matters," Frey said. "He should not have died. He was a human being, and his life mattered. ... Whatever the investigation reveals, it does not change the single truth that he should be with us this morning."

"Being black in America should not be a death sentence," Frey said. "When you hear someone calling for help, you are supposed to help, and this officer failed in the most basic human sense."

A protest was planned for Tuesday night at the scene. Frey encouraged protesters to express their anger but asked them to do so safely and while social distancing.

Jovanni Thunstrom, the owner of Conga Latin Bistro, said Floyd had worked there as a security guard for more than five years. He said Floyd was also a friend and had been a tenant of his.

He wrote on Facebook that he first saw the video and later found out the person who died was Floyd. He said he was writing the post through teary eyes.

"My employee George Floyd was murdered by a police officer that had no compassion, used his position to commit a murder of someone that was begging for his life," Thunstrom wrote.

Thunstrom asked people who remembered the "gentle giant," who worked as a security guard at the Minneapolis bar and restaurant, to "please stand with us."

"Everyone who knows him knew he loved his hugs from his regulars when working as a security guard and would be mad if you didn't stop to greet him because he honestly loved seeing everyone and watching everyone have fun," Thunstrom wrote on Facebook.

"Officers were able to get the suspect into handcuffs and noted he appeared to be suffering medical distress," the statement said. "Officers called for an ambulance. He was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center by ambulance where he died a short time later."

The four officers involved have been fired, Mayor Jacob Frey tweeted Tuesday afternoon.

"This is the right call," he said.

The Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis said in a statement that it was not the time to rush to judgment and that the officers were fully cooperating in the investigation.

"We must review all video. We must wait for the medical examiner's report," the statement said. "Officers' actions and training protocol will be carefully examined after the officers have provided their statements."

Initially, police said the department had called in the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to investigate independently. A short time later, the department announced that the FBI would also be investigating.

"We put out the information that we believed to be wholly honest and true. As we dug into it deeper, we realized that in fact it would be appropriate to have the FBI be apart of this investigation as well," said the department's director of public information, John Elder.

"The public has seen the video. To call this a 'medical incident' is an insult."

Police Chief Medaria Arradondo added during a news conference Tuesday morning: "There was additional information that I had received, quite frankly, from a community source that just provided more context than what I had preliminary, originally." That prompted him to get the FBI involved "knowing that there could be a question of civil rights."

Federal agents were on the ground, Arradondo said. Body camera video was available, but has not been made public. Police said no weapons were used by anyone involved in the incident.

He said the officers were on paid leave. Neither of the officers in the video has been identified by the police.

"The man looked already dead before the ambulance even got there. He was clearly trying to tell them he couldn't breathe, and they ignored him," Darnella Frazier, one of the people who recorded the incident, told NBC News.

NBC News does not know what happened before the video recording began.

Civil rights lawyer Benjamin Crump said in a statement that he was representing the family of the man, whom he identified as George Floyd.

"We all watched the horrific death of George Floyd on video as witnesses begged the police officer to take him into the police car and get off his neck. This abusive, excessive and inhumane use of force cost the life of a man who was being detained by police for questioning about a non-violent charge," Crump said.

"We will seek justice for the family of George Floyd, as we demand answers from the Minneapolis Police Department," Crump added. "How many 'while black' deaths will it take until the racial profiling and undervaluing of black lives by police finally ends."

Minneapolis police said in a statement early Tuesday that the officers had responded to a report of a forgery in progress and found the suspect in his car. He stepped out of the car when he was ordered to, police said, but then physically resisted officers

A man exclaiming "I can't breathe" as a Minneapolis police officer pinned him to the ground and put his knee on the man's neck for about eight minutes died Monday night, prompting the FBI and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to step in and investigate.

Video of the incident shows that a white police officer had a black man pinned to the ground next to the back tire of his patrol car with his knee on the man's neck.

"Please, please, please, I can't breathe," the man begs. "My stomach hurts. My neck hurts. Please, please. I can't breathe."

Onlookers outside the Minneapolis deli urge the officer to get off the man.

"You're stopping his breathing right now, you think that's cool?" one man says. "His nose is bleeding. Look at his nose!" says a woman.

The officer does not budge.

And then the man goes silent. More people begin to intervene and call for the officer or his partner to check for a pulse. The officer remains on the man's neck, even as he lies apparently unresponsive, for a total of about eight minutes before paramedics arrive and the man is placed on a stretcher

Crime / Obinwanne Okeke Surrenders, To Plead Guilty To Wire And Computer Fraud by cyrilamx(m): 2:51pm On May 25, 2020
Obinwanne Okeke, the Nigerian ‘businessman’ arrested in the United States last August, has capitulated after months of putting up spirited fights against the two-count charge of wire and computer fraud slammed on him by American authorities.

Mr Okeke, also known as Invictus Obi in Nigeria, has now told American authorities he is ready to enter a guilty plea, possibly in exchange for a lesser sentence.

Already, a Senior United State District Judge, Rebecca Smith, has given an order approving the plea bargain arrangement.

“The Court has been advised that the defendant wishes to enter a plea of guilty,” Judge Smith said in her Order of April 24. “A United States Magistrate Judge is hereby authorised, with the consent of the defendant, to conduct the proceedings required by the Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 11 incident to the making of the plea. See 28 U.S.C. Section (b) (1); United States v. Dees, 125 F.3d 261 (5th Cir.1997).

“The defendant may consent to the United States Magistrate Judge conducting the proceedings on a form provided by the clerk.

“If, after conducting such proceedings, the Magistrate Judge accepts the plea of guilty and the associated plea agreement, a presentence investigation shall be conducted and a report shall be prepared pursuant to Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 32, and a sentencing data shall be scheduled.

“If the plea of guilty is accepted, the District Judge will adjudicate guilt and will determine and impose a sentence.”

Magistrate Judge Robert Krask has been appointed to conduct the plea agreement hearing set for June 18 at the Norfolk Magistrate Courtroom 1.

Mr Okeke’s capitulation is a surprising turn in the case as he has since his arrest strongly denied wrongdoing.

On December 15, 2019, he filed two preliminary objections. One saying American authorities lacked jurisdiction to charge him for fraud since he did not commit the alleged offence on American soil, and that no American companies or individuals were swindled at the time of his indictment.

In the other objection, Mr Okeke accused the Federal Bureau of Investigation of obtaining evidence from him and his iPhone under duress and that the information so extracted should be discountenanced by the court.

Responding to the objection, the prosecutors said Mr Okeke travelled to the U.S. in the course of the crime and that his lawyers were wrong to argue that no American companies or individuals were defrauded by the suspect.

The FBI also insisted it obtained evidence from Mr Okeke following due process.

But just as the parties agreed to continue the trial, Mr Okeke began to signal to the prosecution that he was ready for a guilty plea agreement. The court was so informed of the development.

Mr Okeke was arrested by the FBI on August 6 in Alexandria, Virginia, as he was about to return to Nigeria.

He was later charged with two counts of computer fraud and wire fraud, which carry a maximum penalty of 10 and 20 years jail, respectively.

U.S. authorities allege Mr Okeke defrauded the United Kingdom office of Unatrac of up to $11 million in business email fraud. Unatrac’s headquarters is in the United Arab Emirates, but the company filed complaints with the FBI through Caterpillar.

10. Poena Cullei.
The Romans practiced a method of execution known as poena cullei.

This punishment was only used for the people the Romans considered to be the worst of all criminals: parricides, or those who killed parents and close family members.

The Romans valued family and tradition above almost everything else, and killing family members was the worst betrayal of this fundamental value. For the worst of criminals, the Romans had the worst of punishments.
Poena cullei involved stuffing the person into a sack and throwing them into a river.

However, the convicted criminal was not alone in the sack. Accompanying them on their river-borne journey were various animals.

The preferred combination was a rooster, a dog, a monkey, and a venomous snake.

As the sack sinks, The rooster defecates itself out of fear and now you’re covered in rooster shit. The monkey as well; monkey shit. The dog starts drooling and scratching you.

You’re covered in your own blood and dog saliva. The snake bites the dog. Now you’re covered in dog blood. The snake bites you, tearing your stomach lining apart. You’re dying a slow and painful death from internal bleeding.

Disgusting smells, terrifying sensations all over your body, living matter swarming you and overwhelming you.

This goes on for several minutes at the least and a couple hours at the most.

In any case, your death is one of sensory overload, prolonged and agonizing pain, and the greatest dishonor.

#Culled.

9. The Culinary Horrors ( Boiling and Roasting Prisoners alive).
The Ancient Greeks used to punish people by cooking them inside a huge bronze bull (a.k.a. The Brazen Bull, Bronze Bull, or Sicilian Bull).

A criminal was locked inside the device via a door on its side and a fire was then lit underneath, slowly burning the victim to death.

The bull had small metal pipes fitted into its nose. As the victim screamed in pain, their cries played through it as a low bellow.

“St. Lawrence, one of seven deacons who served under Pope Sixtus II, died on August 10, in 258 A.D. According to legend, he was “roasted” alive on a grill—but maintaining his good humor to the end, he is reputed to have said during his ordeal,‘Turn me over. I’m done on this side.

8. Impalement.

Impalement involved hammering a sharpened stick into a criminal’s body via the anus (or vagina) before then hoisting up the criminal and letting gravity pull the criminal slowly back down to the ground. The stick would eventually protrude through the victim’s head or shoulders or ...back, killing him, but not before he suffered hours of humiliating, excruciating pain as a sharpened stick tore slowly through his body via the initial point of entry through his body.

Terrible.

7. Execution by Elephant. Execution by elephant, also known as gunga rao, was a common method of capital punishment in South and Southeast Asia, where Asian elephants were used to crush, dismember or torture captives in public executions. The animals were trained and versatile, ...able to kill victims immediately or to torture them slowly over a prolonged period.

The practice was eventually suppressed by European empires that colonized the region in the 18th and 19th centuries. ...The practice was also occasionally used by Western Powers, such as Ancient Rome and Carthage, particularly to deal with mutinous soldiers.

6. Lingchi. Lingchi, also known as “death by a thousand cuts”, was a brutal method of execution used in China in which the victim would suffer a multitude of cuts before eventually dying of blood loss.

Executioners were tasked with making as many cuts as possible and removing slices of flesh without killing the victim. This practice started in the 10th century and was outlawed in 1905, ...making it one of the few execution methods for which photos of it being practiced actually exist!

5. The Breaking Wheel. The breaking wheel, also known as the Catherine wheel, was a torture method used for public execution primarily in Europe from antiquity through Middle Ages into the early modern period, by breaking the bones of a criminal and/or bludgeoning them to death. The victim was first tied down the executioner dropped, then the executioner dropped the execution wheel on the shinbones of the convicted person and then worked his way up to the arms. To increase its effect, often sharp-edged timbers were placed under the convict's joints. Although not commonplace, the executioner could be instructed to execute the convicted person at the end of the first act, by aiming for the neck or heart in a "coup de grace".

4. Scaphism . Scaphism, aka “the boats,” was an alleged ancient Persian method of execution where one died by literally being eaten alive. The victim would be placed between two wooden canoes or hollowed out tree trunks with their legs and head protruding outward. The executioners would ...then force the victim to consume a milk and honey mixture until they developed diarrhea.

Surrounded by the victim’s own feces and vomit, even more of the milk and honey mixture would be applied to sensitive areas of the body. This would attract insects who would feed on ...the body and lay eggs in the various exposed orifices. With rations of the milk and honey mixture along with water, the victim was unlikely to die of hunger or thirst. Death would be agonizingly slow and usually came from septic shock or gangrene. An account by the Greek historian Plutiarch claimed that it took victims about 17 days to finally die.

Chilling, if you ask me.

3. The Lead Sprinkler.
This device, also typically used in the Middle Ages, was filled with molten lead, tar, boiling oil, and other scalding substances. Torturers poured metals into one end to allow for the extremely hot substances to drip over the stomach and other body parts of the victim.

Execution would sometimes occur by pouring molten silver into the eyes, resulting in great pain and potential death.

2. The Judas' Cradle.

Although more widely used in Medieval Europe, the purpose of the Judas Cradle was to obtain various kinds of confessions by forcing the nude victim onto a chair with a pyramid shaped seat. The victim’s feet would often be tied together in such a way that moving one leg would...increase pain by forcing the other leg to move along with it. The torturer was able to raise and lower the victim with a rope and pulley system, which drove the penetrating part deeper into the victim. Some torturers would additionally place oil on the device, considerably increasing pain. The device was rarely or not at all washed, also increasing chances for death by infection.

In some cases, the victim would be rocked or made to repeatedly fall on the pyramid shaped seat to obtain vital information.

A #thread on the most brutal torture and execution techniques throughout history.

1. The Blood Eagle: This alleged method of execution believed to have been performed by the Vikings included initially tying the victim’s hands and legs to prevent any movement. The torturer would then stab the victim up toward their rib cage.

Every single rib would be carefullysevered from the spine with an ax or some other sharp tool. It is believed that victims would often remain alive through this part of the procedure. This left the internal organs on display and salt would sometimes be rubbed into the wounds to increase pain. Finally, the lungs would be pulled out of the body to make it appear as if the victim literally had a pair of “wings.”

Cain and Abel part 2
Crime / I Got My Brother Killed Because Dad Trusted Him More Than Me – Kidnap Suspect by cyrilamx(m): 9:30am On May 23, 2020
If someone had told Kadade Abdullahi that his blood brother would be the mastermind of his death, he wouldn’t believe.

But that was exactly what happened to him around 11.30pm on March 21 when his younger brother, Ibrahim, hired some assassins to murder him.

According to Ibrahim, who is currently cooling off his heels in police custody, the only offence Kadade ‘committed’ is that their father trusted him (Kadade) more than him (Ibrahim).

The suspect, 20, was recently arrested by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team attached to Operation Puff Adder at Kateri Annex in Kaduna State.

Ibrahim and his late brother were said to be indigenes of Amana maiKasuwa village in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

It was in the village that the police operatives, upon intelligence gathering, arrested the suspect and one Hassan Amadu, 22, with the support of local vigilantes.

Speaking with City Round during the week, Ibrahim said he belonged to a gang which specialised in armed robbery, kidnapping and cattle rustling.

He stated that he hired assassins, with the help of his gang members, to kill Kadade because their father trusted his late brother more than him.

He cited that recently when their father sold cows worth N1.7m, the money was kept in Kadade’s custody.

He said this angered him, so he approached Amadu, a native of Rinji village in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State and explained to him of his intention to kill his elder brother.

Ibrahim said Amadu helped him to hire four assassins, identified as Kiri Jumare, Auwalu, Nakaduwa and Yellow.

The suspect said after the arrangement was concluded, the assassins invaded his late brother’s residence, where they killed him.

Ibrahim said, “My brother sold some cows for my father and made N1.7m. He came back and started making a noise about it. My father was happy about it and asked him (Kadade) to keep the money. I expected him to share the money between us but he asked my brother to take it to the bank the next day.

“I was so broke that day and asked my father for money. He started insulting me and asked me to learn to be responsible like Kadade. I was bitter and immediately called Haruna (Amadu) and told him about the money in our house.

“I told them (Amadu and the hired assassins) to come that night and kill my brother. I thought that his death would make my father allow me to control some of his businesses. That night, around 12 midnight, about five of them came. They knocked on my window as a sign to let me know that they were around. They searched everywhere for my brother and when they found him, they killed him as I instructed. My father was devastated but I consoled him that it was Allah’s wish.”

The suspect narrated that when the day broke, he went to the bush to meet the gang who told him that they only found N300,000 on Kadade.

He said, “I collected N100,000 as my share of the money since I was the one who brought the job. It was later that we learnt that my brother kept part of the money in a safe in the market.

“The police came to our residence and arrested our neighbours because they all knew about the money Kadade made from selling father’s cows. They were later released and my brother was buried and I thought the matter was over.

“I was surprised when the police came back with Hassan (Amadu) and arrested me. I am terribly sorry and hope that my family will forgive me. I now regret my action.”

Further narrating why he was embittered towards Kadade, Ibrahim said among his father’s children, his late brother always got special attention.

He said, “My father is married to four wives and has many children. I don’t know what is special about Kadade. I was never sent to a regular school but Arabic school in Kaduna. It was only Kadade that attended primary and secondary schools. My father said it was not necessary for the rest of us to go to school and that he wanted all of us to become farmers. Yet he kept calling us illiterates who could not speak English.”

Also speaking with City Round, Ibrahim’s accomplice, Amadu, said his father sent him out of the house when he was 15 years old to learn how to rear cows from one Alhaji Sani because his father had many sons and unable to train them all to rear cows.

Amadu said the agreement was that at the end of each year, Sani would give him a small cow until he got enough to leave and start his life.

He said it was in the process of rearing cows in the bush that he met one Haruna who exposed him to how to make money selling his master’s cows without him knowing.

He said, “I knew Kadade well as a hard-working and generous man. I never wished him dead. We found only N300,000 in the house and my share was N40,000.”

Meanwhile, the police said they had launched a manhunt for fleeing members of the gang, adding that the suspects confessed to have committed armed robbery and kidnapping in Kaduna State.

seunmsg:
Apart from some few ASUU members that may be collecting salaries from two or more universities, the major reason the union is against IPPIS is that the platform will force them to pay their fair share of personal income tax and remove illegal allowances that are always added at the university level.

When staff of a MDA are paid for the first time by IPPIS, the major complain is about reduction in salaries. This is simply because IPPIS has been configured to pay only the correct amount and deduct the exact tax liability. The illegal allowances and reduced tax deduction that ASUU members have been enjoying for so long is why they are fighting desperately to stay away from the platform.

Yes. Oranmiyan named the land "Ile Ibinu" back then.
Infiltration of non-Yorubas over the centuries after Oranmiya era caused the alteration of the Land name Correct Pronounciation.

But the Ile Ibinu People of today would never agree as they wanna be distinct but even the Colonial Masters and Nigeria Constitution sees them as part of SOUTH WEST.
Please can you tell me where Oduduwa was from? Not the fairy tale of hd fell from the sky. We Binis have incontrovertible evidence that Oduduwa was an exiled bini prince, son of the last Ogiso(sky king) who refuge in Ile Ife. when asked what was his name by gestures, he pointed to the sky cos his father title was "Sky king" therefore he son of the sky king. This the Ife people meant he fell from the sky. To this days that is the belief of the average Yorubas. But the new Oba of Benin pointed it out to them in presence of their Ooni that Oduduwa was the long exiled Benin Prince Ekaladerhan who later changed his name to IZODUWA on finding refuge in Ife meaning I have chosen my destiny, which the Ife people corrupted to Oduduwa. if not, can the Yorubas tell us where Oduduwa came from? We need a historical facts.

Crime / Married Babysitter Who Had Sex With Boy, 13, Jailed For 30 Months by cyrilamx(m): 10:06pm On May 18, 2020
A married babysitter who had sex with a 13-year-old schoolboy and had his baby showed a total lack of remorse, a judge said

Nursery worker Leah Cordice had been out drinking for an evening before she had gone into the boy victim's room where he was playing on his Xbox.

There she seduced him by pulling his trousers down and begging for sex, the judge was told.

The now 20-year-old who had been studying childcare while working at a local nursery, had denied the sexual activity, claiming instead that she had been raped by the young boy.

Cordice was convicted by a jury of having sex with the child on at least five occasions and appeared in Reading Crown Court for sentencing this afternoon.

Judge Peter Clarke QC, said: "Cordice asserted that the truth was that she had been raped by the victim on multiple occasions.

"It has understandably been urged on the court that psychiatric examination has found Cordice to be of borderline intellectual ability with an IQ of 70 to 85. I had and have difficulty with that assessment.

"Cordice gave evidence. She was clear in chief and she was combative and agile in cross-examination.

"At one stage I had no alternative but to warn her that she was doing herself a disservice in her interaction with prosecution counsel. Suffice it to say she showed no remorse for the events.

"Indeed I heard no indication from either Cordice or the victim that she held him in any particular affection, the evidence from at least one witness was of physical obsession and self-indulgence as opposed to emotional attachment."

In a victim impact statement, the boy said he had been diagnosed with separation anxiety by a psychologist, which was a result of him having his child taken away by social services.

The boy told the court: "I cannot see my child and have not had any involvement with her recently. Seeing my daughter and then having her taken out of my life was very hard to cope with.

"It feels like I was punished for what I have been through. I hope in the future I can move on from this and have a relationship with my daughter.

During the trial, the court heard the boy's police interview, where he told how the abuse began when Leah started to hug him and kiss him, before pulling down his trousers and asking for sex.

Jurors had been told how Cordice had groomed the boy by sending him complimentary texts calling him "cute" and giving him money for fish and chips.

Defending Cordice today, Tara McCarthy revealed that the defendant still stuck by her assertion that she had not done anything wrong.

The lawyer said: "This is a desperately sad case all around. There are absolutely no winners. The age gap between the victim and Ms Cordice is relatively limited.

"She is a very immature person, she is still and she certainly was then and it makes the situation difficult.

Leah Cordice was married at the time of the offence
She does accept this has had a significant impact on the victim. It is a situation that nobody really wants to be faced with."

In March 2017, the boy she had sex with had been interviewed by police after one of Cordice's friends sent an email to the nursery where she was working to try to blow the whistle on the affair, the judge heard.

Cordice had blasted the allegation as malicious and the friend was issued with a harassment warning and a penalty notice for wasting police time, the court heard.

After the boy victim's mother later complained to the police, Leah Cordice had been arrested at her home in Windsor on July 9 2018 and she was later interviewed under caution.

She had provided a prepared statement, denying any sexual contact with the boy, and adding: "He has always had a crush on me and would always make inappropriate remarks and do inappropriate things such as grab me and annoy me."

Ex husband Daniel has spoken about his devastation over his wife's offence.

She denied that the victim was the father of her child but was forced to take a DNA test which showed, with a probability of 14 million times more likely than not, that the 13-year-old boy was the father.

Cordice had been living with her husband Mr Robbins, an apprentice mechanic who had believed he was the father and had been bringing up the little girl as if she was his own daughter.

Mr Robbins, aged 21 years, who had since separated from Cordice, said: "There was an argument straight after the DNA test. I was bawling my eyes out. Honestly, if you want to talk about being traumatised, that traumatised me.

"I had a secure job, I had a nice place, I had a good relationship. I had an amazing life.

Everything was going so well and all of a sudden everything got taken away from me: my child, my wife, home, job.

Naked 'slavery victim' begs for help
Cordice, who has since dyed her hair red, faced a two-week trial at Reading Crown Court, following which a jury convicted her of one multiple-incident count of sexual activity with a child which took place when she was 17-years-old.

For the one multiple-incident count, Judge Clarke sentenced Cordice to 30 months detention in a Young Offenders' Institution and said she would be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years and would have to sign into the Sex Offenders Register.

Politics / Buhari Meets Top Critic TY Danjuma In Aso Rock by cyrilamx(m): 5:28pm On May 18, 2020
President Muhammadu Buhari this afternoon hosted former Minister of Defence, Gen. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The reasons for the meeting remain sketchy as at press time.

In recent times, TY Danjuma, as the elder statesman is popularly called, has been one of the vocal critics of the present administration, especially in the area of security.

The Herald recalls that the former Chief of Army Staff accused the Federal Government under Buhari and the military of backing Fulani herdsmen atrocities across the nation.

He stopped just short of calling on Nigerians to defend themselves if the security agencies and the government fail to protect them against the marauding herdsmen.

While speaking at the University of Ibadan, Danjuma flayed Yoruba leaders for keeping mute while the present administration failing to arrest the nation’s descent into chaos.

He said, “In Yorubaland, everybody seems to have lost their voice, scared. And people appear not to care about what is happening. If I tell you what I know is happening in Nigeria today, you will no longer sleep.

“If you want details, I will give it to you privately.

“We are in a big hole as a nation. And people who put us in this hole have continued today. So, we’ve to wake up. Only we can save ourselves.

“The fifth columnists’ activities going on among your people are not helping matters. May Almighty God continues to bless this country, but only we can save ourselves from ourselves.”

Investment / Germany Purchases Made In Nigeria Speed Boats. by cyrilamx(m): 7:16am On May 18, 2020
By Egufe Yafugborhi
PORT HARCOURT— Germany, yesterday, boosted the Nigerian Navy with five gunboats, particularly to fight insurgency in the Lake Chad area of the North-East.
Consul-General of Germany in Nigeria, Ingo Herbert, at the handover of the boats in Onne, Rivers State, said the development was a positive vibe for Germany in deepening its partnership with Nigeria and helping build peace and development in the country.
Herbert said: “The five boats are part of the Greater Initiatives Germany to enhance peace and secu-rity in partner-countries and fight against terrorism.
“The maritime space sensitively accommodates a lot of activities and movements and therefore, prone to security breaches. These boats will not only primarily contribute in your fight in the North-East, but also fight illegal fishing, oil theft and other maritime crimes.”
Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas, in his remarks, said that Germany had earlier supported the Nigerian Navy in provision of MTU series training engines as well as training of 23 naval personnel in Germany.

Politics / Buba Galadima Defends Abacha, Says He Saved The Money For Nigeria by cyrilamx(m): 4:21pm On May 17, 2020
A principal official of the Abacha regime, Alhaji Buba Galadima has defended late Former Dictator, Sani Abacha saying the recovered money was saved by ex- military for the country with knowledge of his cabinet members.

Galadima in an interview with Nation newspapers said most opinions expressed by people concerning Abacha are based on ignorance.

He said, ” I have a completely different idea about what you called Abacha loot. I know as a fact that at that time, Abacha with knowledge of key members of his government, who knew about this money being stacked out, he was rightly advised by some of his colleague presidents around the world.

“Saddam Hussein was one of them. Muammar Gaddafi was one of them. They advised him that there was the likelihood that the US could sanction Nigeria and as such he should save money outside that could last the country, at least, six months, even Nigeria’s account was blocked by the US, there won’t be panic.

“I was a key figure in that government. I was one of the so-called Abacha boys if you must know. I was the Director General, National Maritime Authority, whereby export and import to Nigeria, including crude, were directly coming under my desk. So, am in position to talk about Abacha and the so-called loot.

“It is true that some Nigerians believe Abacha was a monster and you cannot fault their ignorance. Yes of course. It is based on ignorance.

“But the truth of the matter is that we are running a constitutional government called democracy. People can hold different opinion provided it does not encroach on another’s liberty. What I have said to you now is my own opinion based on what I knew of the government and the man at that time.”
