Nothing has ever confuse me this year more than this Russia vs Ukraine war.
Ukraine is both wining and loosing the war at the same time, coutesy of Western Media.
In the morning they will tell us that Ukraine has killed top Russian General.
In the afternoon, they will tell us that Ukraine has capturered dozens of Russian soldiers with hundred of their weapones destroyed.
In the evening they will turn around and tell us that Kiev has been surrounded by Russian soldiers with other two cities captures by Russia soldiers.
At night tell will tell us that Russia has bombed Ukraine national media house.

The greatest enemy of Ukraine is just Western Media propaganda

US is the biggest economy..yes most world trade happens in US dollars but to make the sanctions effective it need to threaten to sanction third parties...

So for US sanctions to be effective unless US has monopoly on something they will threaten to sanctions not only the country.. but also companies trading with that country...So for example if US sanction Nigeria and BMW export cars there US will sanction BMW and refuse to import from BMW or export anything to that company. Since US is a huge market and most companies of some value have some connection to US this makes the sanctions effective.

For sanctions on Iran big oil companies are reluctant to invest in the oil business in Iran because it can hurt more than they will earn...

Without these third party sanctions, US sanctions wouldn't be effective and companies outside US would get a competitive edges in that region...

US has tapped out of sanctions, and they do not have any more leverage left over Russia. At least not when China's got Russia's back.

After all, why will they join an association that is set-up to fight them?

Russia is just re-echoing the sentiments of the Eastern Ukrainians, promising - like in the case of Crimea and South Ossetians to honour their request, and probably defend their (Donbass) sovereignty.

Therefore, it'd be utter lunacy for Ukraine to think that they can join NATO, and at the same time prevent ethnic Russians in Ukraine from Joining their motherhland. It's just plain stupid!

If Ukraine wants to Join NATO, they are welcome to do that, as long as they do not stand in the way of the Eastern Ukrainians quest to rejoin Russia. But if they think they can eat their cake and have it, then they should get ready for carpet bombing. Which even the combined power of NATO won't save them!
