A South African policeman and his wife have been arrested for beating up a nursing mother.

According to Dailysun.co.za, Matshidiso Motsoeneng was allegedly attacked by a cop’s wife on Sunday. .

She revealed that the cop, who works for EMPD, allegedly instructed his wife to beat her up after an argument. “He called her and said, ‘come beat this girl for me,’ ” claimed Matshidiso.

She said she was trying to park her car in the yard at her boyfriend’s place. “He stopped next to me and started yelling at me.” Matshidiso said she yelled back. .

She said she did not know the man was a traffic cop, because he was wearing casual clothes and driving an old BMW 325. .

The cop later told his wife to beat Matshidiso up. She said instead of stopping the fight, the cop allegedly threatened people who tried to intervene.

The 2019 Oscars may hold without an host after Kevin Hart stepped down from the role for homophobic comments he made in the year 2009 and 2010.

The show organisers are reportedly struggling to replace the comedian Kevin Hart, who stepped down from hosting the show, after he was asked to apologise for previous homophobic tweets of his.

According to Variety, the organisers are considering doing without a host for the ceremony, if they fail to get a replacement.

The Academy was blindsided by Hart’s announced departure Thursday night, according to two insiders. The Board of Governors will convene on Tuesday night at a previously-scheduled meeting where the matter will inevitably be discussed.

“They’re freaking out,” said a top comedy agent, speaking on the condition of anonymity. There were no contingency plans in place by the Academy or broadcaster ABC, according to another insider.

Late night hosts might seem an obvious choice, given their national profiles and history with the show (think Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Stewart and David Letterman).

Another option being tossed around is not having any host at all, but rather “a bunch of huge celebs, something ‘Saturday Night Live’ style, and buzzy people” to keep the show moving, the insiders said.

ABC and the Academy did not return requests for comment on their search for a new host.

Nigerian singer, Davido, has allegedly been declared wanted in The Gambia over an assault on a photographer identified as Kenny Egbuke, after a case of assault was reported against him at the Kololi Police station.

According to a report by Enquirermag, the singer broke the head and tore the lips of one of Gamiba’s most notable celebrity photographers who had come to cover his event, yesterday.

A young female fan had approached Davido for a selfie while he was eating. The lady was said to have taken a few pictures of him before going close to him and this, it was gathered, did not go down well with Davido, who sent her back by shouting at her.

This, according to a source, was what picked Egbuke’s interest. He then tried to talk to Davido to take it easy with the lady, since some star-struck ladies can be exuberantly aggressive, especially when they see a big star like him.

Enquirermag reports that the photographer’s advice, however, further angered the singer and the next thing he did was throw his very thick and heavy cognac glass directly at Egbuke, shattering his lips and skull. .

I was also learnt that he even attempted to break the Hennessey bottle on his head, but his bouncers saved the day. David’s was said to have left with all his entourage, moments after.

India's Manushi Chhillar, who won the Miss World pageant last year, on Saturday passed the baton to Mexico's Vanessa Ponce De Leon at a glitzy ceremony, where the first runner-up title went to Thailand's representative and Femina Miss India 2018 Anukreethy Vas failed to make it even to the top 12.

"I can't believe it, I really can't believe it... And I think all the girls deserved it. I am proud to represent all of them. I will do as much as I can in the time I have got. Thank you so much, everyone," Vanessa said backstage after winning the crown at the Sanya City Arena here.

The 26-year-old smiled away with moist eyes as she folded her hands in gratitude to gesture the traditional Indian 'Namaste' greeting when Manushi placed the elaborate crown on her head. She took a walk as the newly-crowned beauty queen, waving at the crowd and wrapped up the evening with a celebratory dance with co-contestants.

Having pursued a degree in International Business, Vanessa, is currently on the board of directors of a rehab centre for girls and volunteers for 'Migrantes en el Camino'. She is a speaker for the National Youth Institute as well as working as a model and a presenter.

An adventurous soul, she has qualified as an open water scuba diver, and also enjoys playing volleyball, painting and ultimate Frisbee, according to the official Miss World website.

Thailand's representative Nicolene Pichapa Limsnukan, 20, got the runner-up spot. Others in the top 5 included contestants from Belarus, Jamaica and Uganda.

Indians were keeping their fingers crossed for Anukreethy after Manushi broke a years-long jinx for India at the Miss World beauty pageant last year. But Anukreethy, a native of Tiruchirappalli, made it to the top 30, but failed to make the cut to the top 12 at the gala.

A total of 118 contestants participated in the contest this year.

The presidential election, which is scheduled to hold on February 16, 2019, may take five days to collate and announce its result, Saturday PUNCH has learnt.

Multiple sources within the Independent National Electoral Commission told our correspondent that they envisaged three to four days because of the large number of candidates, which now stands at 73, as well as the number of registered voters, which is about 84 million.

Checks by Saturday PUNCH showed that only two parties — the Peoples Democratic Party and the Alliance for Democracy — participated in the 1999 presidential election, which held on February 27 but its outcome was announced on March 1, two days after.

In 2003, when 20 political parties contested, the presidential election held on April 19, while the result was announced on April 22, three days after.

In 2007, when 18 parties contested, the presidential poll was conducted on April 21, while the outcome was announced on April 23, two days after.

The presidential election of 2011 saw 20 parties contesting for the highest political office in the country. It held on April 16, while the result was announced on April 18.

Fourteen candidates contested the presidential election in 2015, while the number of persons who voted was less than 30 million out of 68 million registered voters.

The 2015 presidential election, which began on March 28, continued into the afternoon of March 29, while the outcome of the poll was announced in the evening of April 1, 2015.

However, a senior INEC official told our correspondent that it might take five days to collate and announce the results from the over 120,000 polling units across the country.

He said, “In 2015, only 14 candidates contested the election in which about 30 million persons voted. Today, there are 73 to 79 persons running for President, so, obviously, it will take longer than it did in 2015.

“You know the size of this country and one thing Prof. Attahiru Jega did during his time was to make sure that he did not rely on the electronic copy of the results but waited for the Returning Officers from all the 36 states to come to Abuja and authenticate what they sent to the head office.

“This is because we must see the handwritten results and compare them with the electronic one. But I believe it should not take more than four days in all. All the Returning Officers will have to travel from their respective states to announce the results of over 73 parties one after the other in Abuja.”

The source stated that INEC would also be doing the collation manually and electronically in 2019 in order to avert the kind of political crisis that Kenya faced in 2017.

He added, “No one can say for sure if it will be four or five days because, for us, the most important thing is to deliver a credible election. Even in the United States, the governorship election in Georgia State during the last mid-term elections took 10 days before a clear winner could be announced.

“But we are planning to ensure that it doesn’t go beyond that. It could have been shorter but we cannot rely on the electronic results sent in from states.

“If you recall what happened in Kenya last year, they tried to announce results obtained electronically very quickly but they messed up and the main opposition candidate, Raila Odinga, discovered loopholes and took the matter to the Supreme Court and the whole process was annulled. This plunged Kenya into crisis.”

Incidentally, the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu, had told reporters in April that INEC would do the collation of results electronically and manually in order to ensure that the process was thorough.

He added that this was meant to prevent Nigeria from being plunged into the kind of Kenyan controversy.

According to INEC, in collating the results of presidential elections, Presiding Officers send results of polls to the Ward Collation Officers, who in turn send it to the Local Government Area Collation Officers, who shall collate results and send them to the State Collation Officer.

The State Collation Officer collates results and sends to the Chief Electoral Commissioner who is the Chairman of INEC.

The Chief Electoral Commissioner (Chief Returning Officer) collates results from the State Collation Officers, declares the result and returns the winner as President elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Also speaking with our correspondent, a former INEC National Commissioner, Prof. Lai Olurode, stated that timeliness was very important but noted that a credible election was more important.

Olurode said the fact that the results of the elections in 120,000 polling units would be sorted in 79 places could imply that the process would take longer than that of 2015.

He added, “When you look at the population of the electorate, which is about 84 million, and consider the 79 political parties and the fact that you need to do sorting, it will take some time but whether it will take longer than 2015 will be difficult to say.

“Don’t forget that some of the parties may record zero votes but, again, you need to do sorting in 79 places. Even if it is one vote that a candidate scores, you must sort it for him. You must count the votes in 79 places.

“So, definitely, it will take more time to do sorting and more time to do collation and when you look at the entire country, it is large. About 120,000 polling units and you will move from ward level to local government to state constituency before you end up in Abuja.”

When contacted on the telephone, the INEC Director of Publicity and Voter Education, Mr Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, said he could not say how many days it would take to collate and announce results.

He stated, “I don’t think the number of candidates will affect the credibility of the election but on how long it will take, I don’t know.”

A woman has been charged with sexual assault and domestic abuse after she battered her boyfriend because he refused to perform MouthAction on her.

Amy Nicole Parrino, 43, punched and hit her boyfriend with a belt on Sunday night at his home in Missouri. She also pushed him to the ground and sat naked on his face before telling him to "eat my p****", according to court documents.

Parrino hit him 20 to 25 times with an "open and closed fist" before she attacked him with a belt, cell phone and brass plate, the documents said.

Officers responding to the incident on Sunday around 9.45pm said the boyfriend had two cuts on his arms and another to the bridge of his nose as well as red marks on his chest. He told police he didn’t want to do anything sexual with Parrino and had told her to "leave him alone" but she wouldn't oblige.

The boyfriend told police he struggled to breathe and was "scared to death" at one point during the attack. He added that he felt "sick to his stomach" about the incident that he "fears for his safety all the time" because Parrino could get "very violent, very quickly:.

He added:

I don’t know what she’s going to do next.

Parrino was ordered to stay away from the victim and the Boone County home they were living in together. She was jailed on a £19,600 cash bail on Monday.
