Politics / Re: Schools, Banks, Hotels Will Be Required To Have Fire Safety Officers – FG by dacool1(m): 8:56am On Sep 22, 2023
Despite this sounding like a good idea. I think it's a terrible one. Just train one of the staff of the company on how to handle emergency, preferably the security personnel.

Is fire outbreak the most pressing issue in Nigeria. Look at the cost implications on the organization especially small business and start ups. Imagine employing a staff to do nothing other than to wait for fire emergency. How many buildings dey catch fire.

The government should as a matter of fact stop shifting their responsibilities to the masses. Just employ more fire fighters and build more stations.

What i meant is that if the batteries are charged, even if it is halfway, i can use it for the entire day, i usually turn it off at night as i dont need light for anything as i sleep, but that's usually very late, maybe 1 or 2am. It takes me from the previous day till the next day, if there is not enough sunlight on that day, it goes to around 23v and i usually turn it off that time. so in summary, if charged anywhere around 25% with Light, then it takes me around 20 hours with 4-5 hours of sunlight.

Not just the wattage but voltage should match, also once you add more panels you will exceed your charge controller max AMPs. I think you will need to get another charge controller

This is what I would recommend, get the 520watts panel with a separate charge controller. Note since your system is 24v and your panel voltage is 41 you will need a mppt charger else you will lose lots of power generated.

Even if you get two more 250w panels you will need another charge controller.

You are trying to control your wife.
She’s not a robot and has her desires.
You can only advise and encourage her not compel her to do what you want.
I strongly disagree with your opinion if you term leading controlling then good luck to you.
He understands perfectly well what his family needs and will need in the future.
As a woman if you are not ready to be a follower don't get married.
Note I didn't mean to be treated as a slave. Your input as the wife is vital but the leader takes the decision except where the leader is not capable of taking progressive decisions.
Do you think the OP is doing what he desires or what is necessary to earn enough for his family. Do you think most men love their job and work conditions.
Nobody should do what they want in the family rather what's good for the whole family.

I don't think this will work. The voltage of the panels do not match except you will be willing to buy another charge controller.

Hello house, good evening.

So I have a setup of 3 pieces of 250w panels on a 1.5kva inverter and 2 batteries, but it doesn't charge fast enough with the panels, I figured that it needed more panels and someone is offering me a brand new 520 wats panel at a good price, however, I refused buying cos I read that joining panels of different wattage together is not a good idea, however, I went ahead to ask my installer if the panels can work together and to my shock, he says they will work fine. I am sceptical about it and don't trust his judgment on this one, so I decided to ask the professionals in the house, what are the pros and cons of joining panels of different wattage with such wide margin?

Don't mind all these kids here on nairaland. Don't give up on your ideas. I just think she's having a wrong mindset thinking it's a control mechanism or she lacks indepth understanding of the subject matter or she's selfish. Forget all these independent talks from people here.

How is she independent when she will be controlled by a coy, she prefers to work for other people's organization than to work for her family. Most women have this problem.

If she doesn't understand the pros and cons of her decisions, try educating her but if you sense she's putting herself ahead of the family, you will have to appeal to her selfish nature by making her see from how it benefits her more.

It's most likely she wants to have some level of freedom to move around without getting queried. If this is the issue, just plan your retirement without her in the picture for now. When she's about 50years old she'll come around.

For those saying she needs more income, what's the income going to be used for. I hope you all read where he said all expenses are catered for by him. Plus she makes more from her current business.

Yes I don't have appliances pass TV and Light bulbs, the rest are phone chargers.

For other heavy loads, I have a big Gen to power them if I wish.

OK then
Panels 160k to 200k depending on type
Battery like 350 to 400k
Cc like 20k
Inverter 66k(sachet) because of low power consumption and 1500 watts is an overkill for just TV and lights I would recommend 500watts to 1000watts
Cables etc 50k

No wahala, na to stop providing service to those who refused to upgrade their prepaid meters when the time given lapses.

You people can go to court. Sebi una wan dey play politics with everything

Don't you think you are deliberately being foolish here. No matter how much you are paid to defend these people and policies, you don't need to sound stupid.

So you expect people to give up their prepaid meters and get hooked on estimated billings because of the said upgrades. What about simply giving them temporary prepaid meters or outrightly replacing the said meters. It's like you have no idea how much this people rob us in the name of estimated billing.

Unmetered buildings in my area gets as much as 120k per month as energy bill. The minimum estimated bill where is stay is 55k per flat. If not for prepaid I would have disconnected too

Can't they simply go to the said homes and simply upgrade those meters and reconnect them. Is it beyond upgrading, even a whole computer self will be upgraded in less than 30 mins

Good morning gurus in the house,

Pls can gurus help me with quote to install a solar/inverter system in my house with the following load of 1500W.
In addition to the house load, I will also install 4 number batteries.

1) How many solar panels would I need and their sizes
2) What size and type of inverter would be best for this setup
3) What size and type of Charge Controller would be best for this setup
4) What size and type of batteries would be best for this setup

Thanks as I await your responses

Just go with mctfoot's recommendations
But you will just do fine with 3.5 to 5kva inverter
Up your solar PV to about 13 or 15 kw
And if you insist on lead acid batteries you will need atleast 24 batteries assuming the loads will be on 24/7 and managing the batteries will be a lot of work and you will need to dedicate a whole room

It's when you go solar you will realize that there are more cloudy days than sunny days.

I noticed my battery discharge has increased astronomically.

Usually the Battery level do not drop more than 0.2v over night. But now i noticed it is dropping by 2.2v and up to 3V sometimes

Its not like the load has changed, it is the same load i use in the house.

Also, i decided to check the battery levels with a voltmeter and noticed one of the battery is 12.7V and the other was about 10V

What could be wrong and what do you advise i do?

The battery is an i-cell GEL Batteries,

try to charge them separately, see if there is an improvement but the 10v battery is likely shorted

Please, can someone help me look into this quotation.

Panels: STC,Rubbitec or Flames
Battery: Tubular (Addo or Houston)

This is to be used by a shop that runs from 8am-8pm and the total calculated load is 3.4kva

will the load be on simultaneously, if no; the panels will suffice else double the panel size

As for the economy mode the number of batteries is grossly underestimated. you will need at least 16 pcs of 220ah batteries

as for the lithium you will need atleast 17kw to 20kw battery.

you may not need that much back up if the loads wont fly simultaneously.

The number of panels will be seriously increased if you will run the loads simultaneously. To be totally off grid you would need would need a min of 32 400w panels

That's what the man ss listed for me, how true it is as its difficult to trust anyone these days again?

you want to draw 500w from 360w panel. well it wont work. you will need a minimum of 8 pieces of 180watts panel and 4 220ah batteries incase of days with unfavourable weather.

Plus most of these 180 watts panel are actually 150 watts ideally you should have about 10 to 14 panels

you will be needing a bigger charge controller too

i beg to disagree sir.

okay sir. its impossible for him to get beyond 2hrs. so far its a lead acid battery.

read about Peukert's law. plus he cant go beyond 50% DOD. 500watts out of a 220ah battery #12v no be joke. the battery voltage will sag so bad within minutes. That's over 50amps draw from one single lead acid battery

it will only work when the sun is up,t that's if panels are added

I just had to add it as a note. NL no like numbers
