If the part in bold is correct, then there are new rules about basic BODMAS I don't know.

How do you treat/group addition and subtraction before multiplication?

If you got 12 its wrong because

Multiplying 3*3 is a wrong step to solving equation above

What affects +3 must affect -3

So putting (3*3) ain't good

Which is obviously wrong
So for duded with 12 calculators and mathematical apps ain't good for you.

Thank you for that your observation, it actually requires you to be enlightened. Considering the question 3+3*3-3+3, the step You'll follow goes thus, 3*3=9+3=12 and on the other side there'll be consideration on the addition first, giving you 6.
Then, you make it 12-6 which equals 6. Always stand to be corrected.

(3+3)*(3-3)+(3)
6*0+(3)
0+3=3
no wonder 87% failed... winks!
