salam.I tink the reason why our muslim sisters dont get muslim suitors is because muslim men are too shy to approach a lady. This might be due to culture, environment and also upbringing. I therefore support march making and i enjoined our muslim sisters to give it a try. |

Today, July 17, is Eid el-Fitr, a major Islamic festivity marking the end of the annual Ramadan fast, one of the five pillars of Islam. With the celebration holding today, it means the Eid prayer to be performed Friday morning is coinciding with the Jumaat prayer, another Sunnah obligatory prayer for Muslims. What does Islam say about performing Eid and Jumaat prayers on the same day? While some Islamic scholars are of the opinion that one can chose between performing either of the two, others says the two can as well be performed on the same day. Below are the three main opinions on the matter. 1. Wajib (Obligatory) to perform The Juma’at after one has observed the Eid Salah. ( Imam Malik and others). In addition, Ibn Rushd mentioned in his book that Bidayatul Mujtahid V1, Umar Ibn Aziz, Imam Shafi, Malik and Abu Hanifa recommended that: “If Juma and Eid commence on the same day, then both prayers must be performed” Why? Because one act of worship is “sunnah” whilst the other is “wajib”, therefore it is not possible to conjoin them together. 2. An Isolated Exemption: It was narrated that Othman (R) once said: “Whoever wishes to remain for Juma’at, then remain. Whoever wishes to return to their home cities, then return” (narrated by Muwatta, Authenticated by Sh.Albani , Opinion of Imam Shafi). HOWEVER, Ibn Taiymiyah (Majmoo,V12) mentioned the reason for Uthman’s decision was perhaps because he was unaware of the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) decision in this regard. Secondly, Uthmaan was of the opinion that if Eid Prayer was performed, then a congregational obligation was fulfilled. Therefore there was no need to repeat it in Juma’at. In this case, one would be required to pray Zuhr on time. Ibn Taiymiyah goes on to say: “This opinion was an exemption to certain groups who travelled from far cities to observe Eid such as (The People of Barr, The people of Awali and The People of Shawathi) and had to return to their families to enjoy the Eid Festivities.” Therefore, this opinion was an exemption to these groups and later discredited by scholars. 3. Whoever performs Eid is EXEMPTED from Jumaat. However the local Imams are still required to perform the Juma’at for those who wish to attend or those who missed Eid Prayers. Ibn Taiymiyah (Majmoo, V12) mentions opinion 3 as the most correct opinion which has been narrated by numerous individuals including The Prophet (Peace be upon Him) after an Eid sermon, stood up and said: “Whoever wishes to perform Juma, then do so because we will gather.” (meaning perform Juma)(Narrated byAbi Daood, ibn Majah), Umar, Othman, Ibn Masood, Ibn Abbas Radiyallahu Anhum and Imam Ahmed) In this hadith, The Prophet did not order the companions to perform Juma’at but rather said whoever decided to attend the Juma’at prayers was encouraged to do so. Therefore to summarize, one is encouraged to perform the Juma’at salat if he/she wishes. However, they are not obliged to do so if they prayed the Eid salah AND attended the after sermon, in which case they would simply pray Salatul Zhur. May Allah accepts our Ibadat. Ibrahim Babangida, former military
president, says he has “implicit
confidence” that President
Muhammadu Buhari will crush Boko
Haram.
In a special eid-el-fitri message on
Wednesday, Babangida said recent
activities of the insurgents have
“continued to raise our adrenaline, in
a season of apprehension and utter
suspicion, about our security
engagements and the sum total of
our collective sufferance as a
nation”.
In a rare open attack on the
insurgents, Babangida said “we have
seen the worst of human follies in
the conduct of these avoidable
carnage and bloodletting by
unscrupulous persons under the guise
of religion, doing havoc to our sense
of nationality”.
He made a series of suggestions on
how to tackle the insurgency, saying:
“I have implicit confidence in my
mind that President Muhammadu
Buhari, will put the final nail on the
coffin of Boko Haram so that Nigeria
can truly assume her greatness in the
comity of nations.” https://www.thecable.ng/ibb-confident-buhari-will-crush-boko-haram |
The Federal Government has extended Manitoba Hydro International Limited of Canada’s management contract for the Transmission Company of Nigeria by a year. The government took the decision despite the agitation by electricity workers that the contract should not be renewed as they vowed to seek all legal means to protect themselves should the deal be extended. The Federal Government also confirmed that the TCN would be unbundled into two companies, and this would be facilitated by Manitoba. The extension of Manitoba’s deal follows a three-year management contract signed in 2012 for it to manage TCN’s electrical power transmission, system operation and market operation undertakings, as well as train the transmission firm’s personnel. The initial contract, which was signed by the TCN, MHI and the Bureau of Public Enterprises, will expire on July 31, 2015. The General Manager, Public Affairs, TCN, Mrs. Seun Olagunju, noted in a statement on Tuesday that MHI would continue to assume responsibility for the management and control of TCN’s entire operations, working alongside Nigerians to transform the company into a technically and financially efficient, stable and sustainable organisation. She said working together with the transmission company’s employees, Manitoba had achieved a wheeling capacity of 5,300 megawatts of electricity and reduced system losses from over 12 per cent to approximately eight per cent. “In addition, system collapses have reduced significantly from 22 in 2013 to nine in 2014, while the duration of collapses has reduced from more than 2.5 hours to approximately 30 minutes,” Olagunju said. She noted that the fourth year of the contract would focus on further increasing TCN’s capacity to transmit power in the grid, in anticipation of rising levels of generation in the country. “Additionally, MHI will facilitate the unbundling of the TCN into two new organisations, the Transmission Service Provider and the Independent System Operator, while simultaneously building the capacity of local management to take over the leadership of these organisations at the end of its contract,” Olagunju stated. The Chairman of TCN’s Supervisory Board, Mr. Ibrahim Waziri, expressed satisfaction with Manitoba’s performance, noting that the Canadian firm would continue to play a role in TCN’s transformation and development. “Working together, we expect to build on our achievements over the past three years,” Waziri was quoted as saying. Meanwhile, for the first time in about three years, the country on Monday recorded a new peak power generation of 4,545MW that surpassed the 4,517.6MW, which had been previously recorded as the highest generated power. At 9.25pm on Monday, the new peak generation was recorded, thereby eclipsing the 4,517.6MW record set on December 23, 2012. Figures obtained by one of our correspondents from the Presidential Task Force on Power revealed that the country had achieved the new electricity generation peak of 4,545MW through its national network. Similarly, the TCN confirmed that the feat was achieved on Monday night, adding that it had the capacity to transmit the generated electricity. The TCN management had last week stated that electricity wheeling to the distribution companies had improved to over 4,000MW due to improvement in fuel supply to the plants. Energy generation on Tuesday was put at 4,049.78MW, the energy sent out was 3,958.22MW, while peak demand was 12,800MW. http://www.punchng.com/business/business-economy/tcn-fg-extends-manitobas-contract-by-12-months/ |
