Sports › Don’t Sign For Chelsea, Abuja Fans Tell Eaglets by dahaz(op): 7:30am On Nov 12, 2015 |
It was a great fanfare in Abuja yesterday
as hundreds of fans trooped out from the
Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium through the major
streets of Abuja to express their appreciation
to the triumphant Golden Eaglets who
defeated African Champions Mali in the
final of the just concluded FIFA U- 17
World Cup to emerge eventual champions for
a record fifth in Chile on Sunday.
A set of fans numbering about 50 started
chorusing saying “please don’t sign for
troubled Chelsea now, please sign for
Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool,
we beg you oooo”, the fans sang.
Team Captain Kelechi Nwakali brimming with
smiles told SportingLife that ‘we are very
happy with this reception. We never expected
this kind of large crowd. This will definitely
spur us to do more in the future when we
progress to the other cadre of the national
teams.
The team went on a motorcade through the
airport road where hundreds of fans lined
up the streets to cheer the victorious Eaglets
who stood throughout the smooth journey to
the Transcorp Hilton Hotels where the team
and officials would lodge singing “O se, o se
o, o se o, o se baba (meaning thank you,
thank you God).
The team fully guarded by the police, Vehicle
Inspection Office (VIO), Department of State
Security (DSS) and Federal Road Safety
Commission(FRSC) and television stations’
vehicles loaded with their staff recording the
proceedings of the day and newspapers’
cameramen too.
As the celebration continued, a minor
accident invloving three cars occured at
Lugbe road, but no life was lost.
SportingLife checks revealed that the vehicles
ran into each other, as the drivers wanted to
catch a glimpse of the players and the
trophy which was displayed through the bus’
window.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday afternoon had telephone conversations with members of Nigeria’s U-17 team ahead of their World Cup final on Sunday, TheCable can report. The Golden Eaglets, coached by Emmanuel Amuneke, will play against Mali in the final in Chile, hoping to make it a record 5th win after victories in 1985, 1993, 2007 and 2013. Buhari spoke with each member of the team, charging them to repeat the feat of 30 years when Nigeria became the first African country to win a FIFA tournament. Buhari, who was military head of state at the time, charged the team to “do it again” because it will encourage Nigerians, particularly the youths. Sani Abacha, the former head of state, started the tradition of telephone chat with the national team in 1994 ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations final in Tunisia, which Nigeria won. But Buhari’s conversation was not televised, unlike in the past. https://www.thecable.ng/just-buhari-telephone-chat-eaglets-asks-repeat-china-85-feat

BTT: Borgu is the name of an LGA in Niger State, probably the largest LG in Nigeria after Ifelodun of Kwara State.
Borgu is home to the Bussa People, sometimes referred to as the Barubas, who speak Bissan language. The Headquarters is New Bussa, an artificial location created for the aborigines of Bussa against the dangers of residing on the coast of the Niger and most importantly, the construction of the Kainji Dam.
New Bussa, whose unofficial name is Kainji, a name believed to have been erroneously documented by Mungo Park while 'discovering' the Niger. (Ka na jii: a rough Hausa phrase for 'do you understand?' was believed to be the excerpts of the conversation between Mr Park and the fishermen he encountered at the coast, who kept asking themselves if they understood him. Since Mr Park's questions bothered on the name of the location and he kept getting 'Ka na jii?' from the fishermen, he logged the name of the location as 'Kainji'
The Kainji Dam, the Kainji Reservoir, the Kainji Lake and National Park, the National Institute of Freshwater Fisheries Research, the Nigerian Airforce Air Weapon School are some of the key Federal Government establishments in the local government.
Some of my early childhood days were spent in the previous Emir's palace as my late dad and the Emir were great friends and we lived within the walls of the palace.
This LGA was moved from Kwara State by the IBB regime to Niger State, leaving her 'sister' LGs of Kaiama and Kosobosu in Kwara state.
...
I stand to be corrected.
I guess I should go put this on Wikipedia. wow very educative. Thanks for sharing |

• Says terrorists are surrendering, starved of funding
By Senator Iroegbu in Abuja
The Nigerian military has debunked pictures of the rocket-making factory being displayed by the Boko Haram terrorists as fake, saying the intention is to deceive members of the public on the insurgents’ potency.
Some photographs purported to be sites of the insurgents’ bomb-making factories in the North-east region allegedly released by Boko Haram were displayed on some online platforms last week.
However, a top military chief has dismissed the pictures as a propaganda strategy of “a desperate and defeated terrorist group”, saying that the unveiled photos of its rocket-making factory, was that of Bama in Borno State, which has long been destroyed by the military.
The source insisted that “what the Boko Haram is displaying with the images allegedly being their rocket-making factory is deceptive. What you should ask is why didn’t they put it on video as they would normally do?
“Secondly, they do not currently possess the capacity to do such a thing because they are cash-starved and have lost their safe havens. I can tell you that this is an old picture of their Bama factory, which was destroyed a long time ago. These photos are just part of their political and psychological warfare to pretend as if they have the capacity to do those kinds of things”, the source added.
The source also noted that Boko Haram terrorists are currently cash-starved, lacked the manpower and as well as territory to manufacture such rockets.
Investigations also revealed that the expected flow of cash, resources and intelligence from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has been truncated by the recent developments in the Middle East.
“The point is that right now, Boko Haram lacks such capacity to manufacture the rockets in display because the ISIS they are depending on for cash are under immense pressure from the American and Russians bombardment in Syria and Iraq. So funding right now is difficult for them,” the source said.
Also, THISDAY findings further revealed that there is massive desertion by Boko Haram fighters, who are currently testifying and identifying key members of the sect. According to intelligence sources, the recent display of 100 key Boko Haram figures, was helped by the information supplied by the surrendering terrorists.
One of the reliable sources stated: “I can tell you authoritatively that what you are seeing in terms of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and the causing of panic within the Metropolitan areas is that the enemy are being dislodged from Sambisa forest. The terrorists are in distress, and running up and down without a safe haven. They are surrendering in droves and the number of the surrendering we have been having recently made it clear that the people they conscripted have all along been looking for a way of escape.
“You know that Federal Government recently launched ‘Operation Safe Corridor’ upon which a lot of the terrorists have surrendered with more coming out to lay down their arms and we are still profiling them. The Committee that the President set up with the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) and the three state governors of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe is working towards this goal.
“The next phase now is that we are engaged in psychological operations; a lot of leaflets are being dropped from the sky over the Sambisa forest, which is giving the terrorists a lot of hope that if they surrender, they won’t be victimised. So we have given them ‘Safe Corridor’ to surrender and warning those that have failed to do so that if at the expiration of this Amnesty, they will be arrested,” the source added.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), Lt-Gen. Tukur Yusufu Buratai, in continuation of his operational visits to formations and units particularly those within the Area of Responsibility of Operation Lafiya Dole, yesterday visited troops of 21 Brigade at Bama, Borno State.
In his address to the troops, Buratai reminded them of their mandate and deadline to clear the pockets of Boko Haram terrorists within their area of responsibility before the end of December which he strongly believes is possible looking at their high spirit.
He recalled that “the gallant troops librated Bama from the criminal Boko Haram terrorists on 16 March 2015”, and urged them to always be alert.
The highlight of the visit was on the spot promotion and decoration of two soldiers of the Brigade by the COAS for their gallantry, dedication and loyalty from the rank of Lance Corporal to Corporal, an event that further lifted the morale of not only the beneficiaries but the whole Brigade. The elevated soldiers include Corporal Thomas Orim of 202 Battalion and Corporal Abubakar Usman of 150 Task Force Battalion.
Buratai also visited other locations of the Brigade at Konduga, Awulari and Kwanar Banki on the fringes of Sambisa Forest where he met troops in high spirit and enjoined them to continue to do their best in order to defeat the Boko Haram terrorists. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/military-b-haram-rocket-making-factory-photos-not-real/224333/#.VjXZ5fd3xPQ.facebook |

Ever wondered what those blinking or stagnant blips on your dashboard meant? wonder no more, here you’ll find a list of dashboard indicators and what they symbolize. Since cars don’t speak English, the only way they can communicate their health and well-being to us is through symbols and indicators on your car’s instrument cluster. Color Implication For the most part, a symbol in red indicates a potentially serious problem or safety issue. It is also used to indicate an important reminder. Yellow/orange mean something needs to be serviced or repaired soon. If the symbol is flashing, it is truly important that you contact your dealer. A green or blue symbol is for information only, telling you that a system is on or is operating. https://giditraffic./2014/11/13/dash-board-indicators-and-their-meanings/
