PoliticsPeter Obi Donates 20 Million Each To Schools In Anambra State - Photos by DailyPost(op): 8:30am On Apr 25, 2016
Peter Obi Donates N20 Million To Schools Across Anambra State
The former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has donated N20 Million Naira to schools across the country.
Obi who disclosed that support to schools has become a passion for him, said that having witnessed the impact of the support he gave to schools when he was the Governor of Anambra State yielded in the performances of Anambra schools, he was encouraged to continue the gesture as part of his contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria. He said this last week as he moved from one school to the another donating 1 Million naira each to them.
Some of the schools he visited are: Holy Child Nursery and Primary School, Isiagu; Holy Spirit Secondary School, Ebenebe; St. Anthony Secondary School, Ikenga; Holy Family Secondary School, Igboukwu; St Anthony Nursery and Primary School, Ekwulobia, Immaculate Conception Secondary School, Umuchukwu; Michael Tansi Secondary School, Akpu, Ekwu Memorial Secondary School, Owerri-Ezukala, among others.
Speaking at Madonna Nursery and Primary School, Agulu, which he visited on Friday, Obi encouraged the pupils of the school to have their minds fixed on the fact that education is about their future and should not be joked with. He told them that with education, they could compete with their counterparts in any part of the world.
Obi disclosed that he has been engaging a lot of international organisations to assist Nigeria in the area of education. “A few weeks ago, I meet with the leaders of Build Africa in London over the same matter”, Obi said.
Obi took the opportunity to call on wealthy Nigerians to commit certain percentages of their profits to support worthy causes as a way of giving back to the society that made them what they are. He described as particularly painful; a situation where Nigerians spend tens of millions to celebrate vanity when 1 or 2 million Naira donated to schools would go a long way in making the society a better place.

PoliticsFire Incident At NNPC Station In Kaduna (Photos) by DailyPost(op): 12:45pm On Apr 24, 2016
Three people died Saturday and 10 vehicles burnt as a filling station belonging to the state-owned Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation caught fire in Kaduna. Witnesses said the fire started around 5:11 p.m and raged for more than three hours. Some residents of Kinkinau GRA, where the fuel station is located, opposite Ungwan Muazu, on Nnamdi Azikwe Way, said as the inferno raged, they became apprehensive that it might spread to their shops and homes.
Babangida Kinkinau, owner of a nearby shop, said the incident occurred while a fuel tanker was discharging its content.“ One of the compartments of the tanker was leaking fuel while in the process of discharge,” Mr. Kinkinau said. “I rushed to the scene with a bucket to assist as the manager of the fuel station uses rag to block the leakage.“ Unfortunately, the fire was triggered from the fuel that flowed to the main road, which engulfed eight cars and two commercial buses on queue. The tanker and the fuel station got burnt as well as a girl and two men were killed.“

I managed to remove my car from inside the fuel station.” Firefighters from the Kaduna State Fire Service and that of Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company battled hard to extinguish the fire. An official of the Kaduna State Fire Service, confirmed the death of the three people. He however said the remote cause of the fire was not immediately known, below are some photos from the Arena.

Osinbajo - Brother to OBasanjo grin grin grin grin
PoliticsOsinbajo At A Town Hall Meeting In Lagos by DailyPost(op): 8:32pm On Apr 23, 2016
Here are some of the issues he discussed. He also provided answers to some questions.

1. President Muhammadu Buhari and I are completely committed to providing competent leadership. We have no other agenda. We acknowledge that there are pains but they are just birth pains.

2. We are currently compiling the social register for the poor. As soon as the budget is passed, we will begin to pay 5000 to the poor.

3. Stealing and Corruption cuts across all ethnic groups. We must decide to become a new tribe of Nigerians.
We must disallow division
We must also disallow the use of religion or ethnicity.

4. On the fuel crisis, only the NNPC is importing refined fuel. We are in the process of a final solution to the fuel scarcity.

5. Public refineries are a problem. Private refineries run better. We are seeking private investments in co-managing the refineries.

6. On the Entertainment sector, We are working on solutions to piracy including technology options. Active advocacy and more collaboration between the Entertainment industry and the government.

7. The VP reiterates that the Lagos-Calabar project is in the budget. He says the most effective way of moving goods is by rail. So the Lagos-Calabar and Lagos-Kano rails are in the budget.

8. On Power: Nigeria recorded a peak of 5000 MW in February. We paid outstanding debts and curtailed vandalism. But the Forcados pipeline caused a drop of about 500MW.

9. We are currently working on improving the supply of gas to power plant and fixing transmission line problems.

10. We have removed fixed tariff charges. You only pay for what you use. We are also engaged with labour unions on cost reflective tariffs.

11. On the Yuan deal: The deal is we have some credit with the Chinese so doing business with the Chinese can be done without the dollar.

12. The Yuan deal will help facilitate trade with China and also help the ease of doing business.

13. We want a country where anyone who holds public office must be able to explain their wealth.

14. Nobody can enforce any type of right by violence. The use of violence to dispossess others is unacceptable.

15. We will continue with the town hall meetings across the country. You will need notified on the next one.

Mr Ballah Nasarawa, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), zone 7, on Friday said a total of 458 suspected criminals have been arrested in Kaduna State, in the last 10 days.

The AIG who relocated to Kaduna following a directive from the Inspector General of Police (IG) in the spate of the increased kidnappings and other criminal activities in the state.

Part of his mandate was to rid the state of criminals, reorganise and streamline police operation in the state.

Nasarawa said at a news briefing in Kaduna that among those arrested were 27 suspected kidnappers including those who abducted three Reverends, and a director in Dangote Group.

The police chief said one car snatcher was apprehended while attempting to sell a 4-wheel runner jeep with registration GGE 222 AM.

Nasarawa added that a suspected cattle rustler was also arrested by the police and that 71 cattle and 33 sheep were recovered from him.

The AIG said that the 548 suspects arrested in various raids across the state “are being interrogated and profiled.”

He said that the police had identified many criminal hideouts of armed bandits including “renowned car snatchers” and receivers, and promised to bring them to book.

The AIG announced that the reorganisation may be concluded by next week and that the process will see the transfer of many policemen out of the Kaduna State Police Command.
