In case of Intermolecular force, hydrogen shld normally av the lowest BT when I was reading, i saw this and I think it is appropriate to share it with you guys...the weakest intermolecular force is vander Waal's force...vander waal force increases as the number of electron of a species increases...hydrogen has the least electron and should have the least Intermolecular force BT somehow its helium.... I dnt also know why... A way around this is to remember that.. Helium is the most ideal gas(followed by hydrogen) the reason is because it has the least Intermolecular force....thanks guys... Am signing out finally.. |

Whenever you read abt anything..make sure you know the trend and also the exceptions..In Carbon monoxide...carbon form two covalent bond and one dative bond with oxygen ...oxygen is the electron pair donor.....Electro Affinity is the energy released when a gaseous atom accept electron to form a gaseous negative ion..it decrease down the group because as we go down the group,a shell is added and the attraction of the positive nucleus to the electron decreases..so,the more the shell, the lesser the "EA"..the trend is ok from chlorine to iodine BT the exception is BTW chlorine and fluorine..... Although fluorine has lessee shell than chlorine e,it is too small..adding electron to it will cause little repulsion which lessened is EA than chlorine... |

The answer can't be B or C..calcium oxide is ionic,it will dissolve in HCl( by reactio ) to form calcium chloride and water..answer should be A.. |

Papi112: Abeg no mind egbo oo d answer na fluorine oo Electron affinity increases across d period and decrease down group for group 7 it starts with fluorine followed by chlorine then bromine so u c d electon affinity decrease hence d highest electron affinity goes to fluorine
Affinity ...ability to attract or wanting to gain Electon.... Nagative charge particle
Put it together and form d answer Now remember dat fluorine can displace any other elements in its group from der salt... Day to show u it Hunger for electron but chlorine can only displace does lower Dan it... Bromine iodine Also it is d most electro nagative element
Don't be deceived fluorine is d answer ..Doc,what you fail to understand is that, there are alw exception...I believe that's y many ppl keep smiling after post utme thinking they have answered many question correctly BT when the result comes out, they get less than they expected...in your preparation, its good to knw abt trend( like Electron affinity decrease down the group).. The exception is btw chlorine and fluorine....chlorine has higher electron affinity that fluorine...I recently discover this, that y I asked so that all of you can know...I bliv that's how UI trap ppl( esp the brilliant minds) |

Papi112: Note rate of diffusion is inversely proportional to d relative atomic mass naw did says Dat d lower d diffusion rate d higher d molar mass of such element For a gas to have a low diffusion rate d gas must have strong intermolecular force to bind dem together and resit set independent motion of d molecules of d gases in question Whit did said Oxygen has d highest molecular mass hear so it has d lowest diffusion rate giving it d highest molecular force In contract hydrogen has low molecular mass hence it posses d lowest intermolecular force... Answer is A
Also note dat d lower d density d lower d intermolecular force Dis explains y hydrogen is used to fill balloon Helium. Is also used but Dat if hydrogen moves faster due to loosened inter force..... I rest my case ...u are wrong again sir...the answer is helium |

Now for dem to complete an octet rule each must have 8 valences abi
If carbon donates 2 electrons And oxygen 4 Electons it mins 6 Electons Is binding dem together abi forming a triple covalet bond between dem Now draw what I just said in a paper and count d number of electrons in each participating atom. Sir,this your statement shocked me to the bone marrows and sent cold shivers down my spine......I mean,it really got me thinking!.It takes unimaginable courage to set a goal as this...
The last time I wrote UI post UTME,I scored 53(though not prepared at all due to some circumstances in my life then that were beyond my control).I am not the 'marathon jacking type'... ...my own na 'slow and steady'....
Abeg no leave us go into exile ooooo.Boys like us are really learning from bosses like you,Pes13,Orezy5,condomsir,boyejo123,Afoobabs,....and many others.
I can tell you that my high score in Jamb can as well be associated to the priceless tutorials I got from bosses in this forum...
There are so many things we learn here in seconds which can take you weeks to come across in textbooks.
So please,LET US JOINTLY HELP OURSELVES GET OUR HEART DESIRES THIS YEAR(Especially UI students(Even though we are still aspirants, but we don enter be that ooo ))
Many HEADS are always better than one!!! Doc,I will be back soonest...just want to tidy some things up...m sure you and others will keep the thread buzzing..Its been fun being here..ur own way of study is slow and steady while mine is fast and furious..lol..will miss you all.. |

DrBESTJC: A is the answer. In the first place, oxygen does not exist as an atom and the question is asking you which ELEMENT or COMPOUND .....So,I think ivumar is very correct.
You can google it and confirm. ..I posted the question..it was element/compound/atom....my mistake |

ivumar: sorry to disturb bro,but how is Dolapo74's answer correct?... mind you, the question is a logical one. They were asking you of " which element/compound"... So I don't see a reason why the answer should be an atom. Also, the question asked about bacteria in general,,not just anaerobic bacteria. So if at all oxygen attacks anaerobic bacteria(Which I don't even think is possible), i don't think it will attack aerobic bacteria. So it should be a compound or an element as the question rightly asked. I think the answer is A. Or what do you think? ....when chlorine is added to water,it undergoes disproportional reaction to give HCl and HClO..HClO decomposes in solution to produce reactive oxygen atom that kill bacteria in water....eida aerobic or a anaerobic .... |
