The Borno State Government has assured that the 160,000 former Boko Haram members, who have repented and taken oaths with the Quran, won't return to the bush to resume fighting.

The state’s Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Zuwaira Gambo who made the disclosure emphasized that 70,000 of these individuals have been successfully resettled and reintegrated into their communities.

Addressing public concerns, she stated that the process involves a transparent oath-taking ceremony with the Holy Quran, overseen by a committee of traditional rulers, religious leaders, and government officials.

“It is completely untrue that the repentant Boko Haram fighters are reneging on their repentance and returning to the bush to continue fighting,” she said.

“Out of the over 160,000 who repented, we have already reintegrated over 70,000 in their home communities, and I can assure you that no one will be missing should we decide to gather all of them for anyone to confirm. We operate a transparent process of their repentance,”

Gambo dismissed claims of relapse, highlighting that the repentant insurgents understand the consequences of breaking their oath, as returning to the bush would result in death at the hands of their former commanders.

"We subject each of them to proper oath taking with the Holy Quran that he or she will never return to the bush to fight; and he or she swears with the Holy Quran in the presence of a committee comprising traditional rulers, religious leaders and government officials.

"No repentant Boko Haram dare renege on the oath because he or she knows what it means to swear with the Holy Quran and renege, and he or she knows that he or she dare not return to the bush because he or she knows that death awaits him on arrival; their commanders in the bush will kill him because they would not trust him.”

She noted that a significant portion of these individuals were originally farmers, forced into insurgency.

"They were not real fighters,” she said.

She, however, said the state government would study the entire charters of demand and do everything it could about them.

The charter comprises the demands of the survivors and victims from the government, security agencies, NGOs, the media, traditional and religious leaders, community members and other stakeholders for proper rehabilitation to a prosperous life.

It comes as no surprise that Stanley Nwabali, the goalkeeper of Nigeria’s national team Super Eagles, has been receiving widespread praise for his outstanding saves during the match.


While some Nigerians flooded social media platforms with his pictures and heaped praises on him for helping Nigeria secure its victory, residents of Rivers State embarked on a jubilant procession to the goalkeeper’s father’s house.

Videos circulating online capture the lively scenes: some excited residents rode motorcycles, while others jogged and sang victory songs on their way to honor his father.

Grammy award-winning Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Balogun popularly known as Wizkid met Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka in London after the game against Liverpool on Sunday, Newspremises reports.

The England winger of Nigerian descent scored as the Gunners defeated their title-chasing rivals 3-1 at the Emirates.

Wizkid was at the stadium to watch the Premier League clash while cheering on Saka and his Arsenal teammates.

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested one of the notorious kidnappers, Bello Mohammed who abducted and subsequent killed Nabeeha, the young lady abducted alongside her five sisters in Bwari, Abuja on January 2, Newspremises reports.

Nabeeha met a tragic end of her life when her family failed to meet the ransom demanded by her abductors.

According to the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, Muyiwa Adejobi who is also the Divisional Police Officer of Tafa Division, the police acted on intelligence by conducting a raid at a hotel in Tafa Area, Kaduna State.

During this operation, Bello Mohammed was arrested, and a sum of #2.25 million was seized, believed to be proceeds from ransoms collected within the region.

Adejobi revealed that, during interrogation, the suspect confessed to being part of the gang responsible for kidnapping Barrister Ariyo's family in Bwari on January 2, 2024.

The suspect admitted to his involvement in the killing of kidnapped victims, including Nabeeha, on January 13, 2024, at a kidnappers' camp in Kaduna State.

In an unexpected turn, the suspect attempted to bribe the Divisional Police Officer with #1,000,000, an offer promptly rejected as the DPO remained dedicated to his duty.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has ordered the transfer of the suspect to the DFI-IRT in Abuja for thorough investigations.

The suspect, who also disclosed the participation of five neutralized bandits in Kaduna, led by Mai Gemu (aka Godara), is cooperating with the police. Mai Gemu's deadly camp has been dismantled.

Commending DPO Tafa, SP Idris Ibrahim, for his commitment and professionalism, the IGP assured that the Police would relentlessly pursue criminal elements, ensuring a safer society for all Nigerians.

The suspect remains in custody, aiding ongoing investigations into the matter and the identification of other individuals responsible for these heinous acts.

Al-Nassr striker, Sadio Mane has continued his generosity towards his home village, Bambali in Senegal, Newspremises has gathered.

The 31-year-old officially inaugurated Stade de Bambali, a newly built stadium in his home village on Wednesday, 3rd of January 2024.

This comes one year and six months (June 2022), when he was seen playing with his friends on a mud pitch in Bambali, while on holiday.

Mane previously spent over £700,000 to build essential infrastructure like a hospital, school, post office, and petrol station, transforming the community.

The former Liverpool star recalled the absence of a hospital when his sister was born, a situation that fueled his desire to provide hope by constructing one.

He did not only invested in physical structures but also facilitated education by providing laptops and $400 to the highest-achieving students at Bambali High School.

Additionally, Mane supported each family with €70 monthly and ensures access to 4G internet.

During a visit home in June 2022, Mane played football with former Premier League stars on a muddy pitch in Bambali.

Within a year and a half, he revamped this pitch into a modern mini stadium, recently inaugurated as the Stade de Bambali, a gift to the village.

Despite his move to Al-Nassr from Bayern Munich for €30 million, where he now partners with Cristiano Ronaldo, Mane continues his impactful contributions.
