AnthCunny:I won Total and Binuyo Foundation scholarships. The most important thing to win scholarships is to have a good result, especially first class. That was the major reason I won the scholarships. We did a test for Total. They were simple questions for an average student. I believe they shortlisted us using our results because those of us I know that were called for the test has very strong first class result from 100L. 2 Likes |

akande115:Well, from my experience and nature of study at my faculty, what I can say is that 100 level was the easiest to get maximum points in all courses. My advice is as follow: 1. Never miss a class unless the reason is highly justified. Don't join the gangs of lazy students. 2. UI is about seriousness. If you want first class, you have to be ready to read a lot. 3. Make friends with serious students. Bad/unserious friends will influence you badly. 4. Make sure you always have your complete lecture materials. Most lecturers will give soft copies of their lecture. Ensure you print everything and read them as often as possible. Before you read textbooks, make sure you have read your lecture materials well. For lecturers that don't use or give lecture notes, they are usually the most dangerous. By dangerous, I mean if you miss their class, you may find yourself in big trouble. They will set questions from what they discuss in class AND NOT LIKELY WHAT YOU READ IN TEXTBOOKS. For such lecturers, make sure you never miss their class. Also, ensure you jot or write as many things as discussed in class while the lecture is ongoing. If you are the slow writer, ensure you note your classmates that can write fast and always copy their notes. I'm a slow writer and I copy such notes a lot. You can do photocopy too. I have seen many students fail because of such lecturers. 5. Everything counts in UI. Short quiz, unannounced quiz (a lecturer can say he will conduct a test after his lecture in class), assignments, mid-semester tests, second tests, and exams. UI will soon stop 7.0 grading totally. My set is the second to the last set they are using the 7.0 grading system for. UI is now using 4.0. CA test score total is now 40 marks while exam is 60. CA is not only about mid semester tests or second tests. CA include assignments, unannounced tests, mid semester test, second test and any other thing your lecturers deem fit. So, you see, you can't joke here. I have mentored students to first class in their 100L. A few listened to my advice and made first class while others joked about it and are still regretting it. There is nothing big about it. YOU JUST HAVE TO BE SERIOUS! |

I just checked my final year results some minutes ago and I was told I passed all my papers. I have come to the end of this great journey. My appreciation goes to everyone that helped me at the beginning of it all, especially safex101 and ifyalways. I appreciate those that wished me well and prayed for me. May God bless you all. It was a rough journey, a journey of ups and downs. I won two scholarships along the line and I also started freelancing works to support myself. That was how I was able to survive. I encourage everyone who has similar challenges to never give up. As long as there is life, there is hope.
