Staged or not.

That bodyguard fella may find it difficult to win an ENDURANCE BATTLE.

Guy may find it difficult to run 1 kilometre with ease

Building muscle mass is different from strength and endurance

Saw a vid on twitter where american marines with normal body (i dont wanna use skinny) lifts weights with ease, and body builders finds it difficult to lift same weight.

WWE staged or not. Mark Henry n big show finds it difficult to win Randy Orton coz guy got speed and only loses when he lets his guard down to allow bigger body wrestlers to hit him hard.

Just got this email from WorldRemit.

Seems CBN has quietly re-introduced their policy where people abroad can no longer send foriegn currency directly to folks in Nigeria. Folks in Nigeria now can only receive the naira equivalent of the money sent.

I've checked Western Union and seems to be the same as well. Moneygram still allows dollars to be sent, but can only be picked up. Can't send to a dorm account any more.

I have checked and haven't seen any news on this.

Nairaland / General / The Man Who Will Outshine Dangote As Africa's Richest by DamolaDamola: 11:24pm On Sep 02, 2023
Could He Really Outshine Dangote as Africa's Richest?

In the captivating world of African business giants, Aliko Dangote has long been hailed as the undisputed king of wealth and success. However, in recent times, it's worth taking a closer look at Mike Adenuga, the telecom titan, who is making a compelling case for himself as a strong contender for the title of Africa's richest individual.
Aliko Dangote's remarkable net worth is a testament to his extraordinary entrepreneurial journey, and he deserves every bit of recognition he receives. His recent venture into the oil sector with a refinery in Nigeria showcases his ability to seize opportunities and diversify. Adenuga might just have what it takes to surpass Dangote in the race for wealth all along.

Riding the Telecom Boom
One of the standout reasons that positions Mike Adenuga for potential supremacy in the wealth game is his solid grip on the telecommunications industry. His brainchild, Globacom, has consistently been a major player in Nigeria's telecom scene and has expanded its reach into other African nations. With the telecom sector experiencing explosive growth due to the rising adoption of mobile phones and an insatiable thirst for data, Adenuga's telecom empire is cashing in on this golden opportunity.

Focus and Market Domination
While Aliko Dangote's business empire spans across diverse sectors like cement, sugar, and salt, Adenuga's singular focus on telecommunications has allowed him to achieve remarkable dominance in a high-growth industry. This focused approach means that the lion's share of his wealth is tied to a single, immensely profitable sector.

Tapping into Emerging Markets
Adenuga's strategic move to expand into other African countries positions him to tap into markets with immense growth potential. The increasing demand for mobile services and data connectivity in these regions serves as a rocket fuel for his company's revenues, and subsequently, his net worth.

Valuation: Comparing Apples to Oranges
When we consider the valuation of their businesses, it becomes clear that Adenuga's telecom empire might be undervalued when compared to Dangote's diversified holdings. Valuing massive cement manufacturing plants, for instance, can be a more intricate task than assessing telecom assets.

Embracing Innovation
The dynamic nature of the telecommunications sector allows room for innovation and the creation of new revenue streams. Adenuga's ability to adapt to these innovations and leverage them for business growth could be a game-changer for his wealth.

Landscape of wealth in Africa is ever-evolving. The telecommunications industry, where Mike Adenuga reigns supreme, is a potent generator of wealth that shows no signs of slowing down. As we witness ongoing expansion and innovation within this sector, it's entirely possible that Mike Adenuga could one day take the throne as Africa's richest individual. The race for wealth in Africa might just have a new champion, and Mike Adenuga is a formidable contender for that title.

Feel free to air your opinions.

Politics / President Tinubu's Speech Brings Hope For Economic Transformation by DamolaDamola: 9:01pm On Jul 31, 2023
President Tinubu's Speech Brings Hope for Economic Transformation

In his recent address to the nation, President Tinubu demonstrated a clear commitment to addressing the economic challenges faced by our beloved country. His speech laid out a well-thought-out plan to combat these challenges and pave the way for a more prosperous and fairer economy.

One of the key highlights of the speech was the decision to remove the fuel subsidy, a long-overdue measure that will save the country trillions of Naira annually. By redirecting these funds towards crucial sectors such as public transportation, healthcare, education, and national security, President Tinubu aims to make a tangible impact on the lives of ordinary citizens.

Furthermore, the move to end the multiple exchange rate system is a step towards promoting a more transparent and efficient financial environment. This decision will deter currency speculation and channel resources into job creation, business development, and overall economic growth.

President Tinubu's emphasis on the importance of reducing the influence of a select few powerful individuals on the country's economy and governance is commendable. By focusing on empowering the people and ensuring that democratic principles prevail, the speech reflects a vision of a more inclusive and just society.

The President's commitment to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as the informal sector, is a promising sign for economic diversification and sustainable growth. The allocation of significant funds to empower these sectors with access to credit and other resources will drive job creation and foster a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem.

In addition to the economic reforms, President Tinubu's plan to invest in critical infrastructure across states and revamp the healthcare and educational systems showcases a comprehensive approach to addressing various pain points in our society. By prioritizing these areas, the government aims to uplift the standard of living for all citizens and create a more competitive and prosperous nation.

Overall, President Tinubu's speech instills hope in the hearts of Nigerians, as it outlines a clear roadmap for economic transformation. While acknowledging the current hardships, the President urges citizens to remain steadfast and look towards a brighter future, assuring that the measures taken will yield positive results in due time.President Tinubu's Speech Brings Hope for Economic Transformation

Politics / Tinubu's Economic Speech Shows His Disconnection From Reality by DamolaDamola: 8:47pm On Jul 31, 2023
President Tinubu's Economic Speech is a Disconnected Reality

President Tinubu's recent speech on the current economic challenges paints a rosy picture of proposed solutions, but it seems disconnected from the harsh reality facing everyday Nigerians. The speech appears to be a collection of promises and assurances without addressing the immediate impact of economic measures on the citizens.

The decision to remove the fuel subsidy has led to a surge in fuel prices, further burdening citizens already grappling with high inflation and unemployment rates. While the President promises to redirect the saved funds to critical sectors, the lack of tangible relief measures for the working class and vulnerable populations raises questions about the government's priorities.

Similarly, the plan to end the multiple exchange rate system may be a welcome move for investors, but it fails to acknowledge the potential hardships it may impose on small businesses and consumers. The lack of a clear transition plan and measures to mitigate currency shocks leaves many questioning the government's readiness for such a significant policy shift.

President Tinubu's focus on supporting the manufacturing sector and SMEs is commendable, but the speech lacks details on how these funds will be equitably distributed and monitored. Without transparency and accountability, there is a risk that the resources may disproportionately benefit select groups, further exacerbating income inequality.

The President's commitment to investing in critical infrastructure and revamping healthcare and education is overshadowed by the absence of immediate relief measures for citizens. As Nigerians struggle to make ends meet, the focus on long-term projects without addressing short-term needs seems disconnected from their reality.

President Tinubu's economic speech raises doubts about its alignment with the daily struggles of Nigerians. While the proposed measures may have potential, the lack of immediate relief and a comprehensive approach to addressing citizens' current hardships leaves many questioning the government's understanding of the ground realities. To gain the trust and support of the people, a more empathetic and holistic approach is needed.

Politics / Civilian Protests In Osun Amidst Fuel Hike And Naira Policies by DamolaDamola: 1:41pm On Jul 31, 2023
Civilian Protests in Osun Amidst Fuel Hike and Naira Policies
Osun state finds itself amidst a perplexing situation as civilian protests gain momentum, challenging the petrol subsidy and Naira policies. The unfolding events have shed light on the irony of the situation, as citizens and small businesses grapple with the repercussions of rising fuel prices.

As the protests continue to rock the region, the strain on civilians has become unbearable. The economic burden imposed by the fuel hike has left many struggling to make ends meet, revealing the real impact of national policies on grassroots communities.

Among those affected are small businesses like private schools, facing threats to their survival. This predicament exemplifies the importance of addressing the concerns of local entrepreneurs who form the backbone of the economy. Similarly, street vendors selling daily essentials have experienced a decline in sales due to reduced purchasing power among citizens.

The situation in Osun serves as a stark reminder that policy decisions can have unintended consequences. As citizens voice their frustrations, it is evident that a collaborative approach between the government, businesses, and the public is essential to finding balanced solutions that benefit all stakeholders. For instance, transport unions have voiced their grievances about the increasing fuel prices impacting their livelihoods and the overall cost of living.

The protests also highlight the power of community support, with individuals offering assistance to those in need. Such gestures underscore the significance of solidarity during challenging times. Local non-profit organizations have come forward to provide food and relief packages to families facing financial hardships during the demonstrations.

The ongoing demonstrations in Osun send a powerful message to policymakers, urging them to consider the welfare of their people and the potential ramifications of their decisions on everyday lives and local businesses. As the protests continue, citizens from different walks of life join in, including students advocating for affordable education and youth groups voicing concerns about employment opportunities.
Jobs/Vacancies / How To Leave Interviewers Impressed by DamolaDamola: 1:27pm On Jul 31, 2023
How to Leave Interviewers Impressed

In any job interview, the moment an interviewer asks, "Tell me about yourself," can be both exhilarating and nerve-wracking. Crafting a compelling self-introduction sets the tone for the entire interview and can significantly impact your chances of success. To help you confidently navigate this crucial moment, we'll explore a practical and effective framework presented by Harvard Business Review for introducing yourself in any context.

A Confident Introduction
Start your self-introduction with a present-tense statement that exudes confidence and clarity about who you are and your current role. For example, you can say, "Hi, I'm Bello, a software engineer with a focus on optimizing customer experience," or "Nice to meet you all. I'm Jude, the creative director at our Lagos office." Tailor your introduction to the specific situation and audience, and feel free to elaborate if there's an opportunity.

Establishing Credibility
Next, share relevant details about your background in the past tense to establish credibility. Highlight your education, credentials, past projects, employers, and notable accomplishments. For instance, "My background is in computer science, and before joining this team, I worked with big data to identify insights for clients in the healthcare industry," or "I've been with the firm for Four years, and most recently, I worked on the Alpha Financial account, contributing to the award-winning Webby campaign."

Demonstrating Enthusiasm
In the final part of your self-introduction, project enthusiasm for what lies ahead. Show eagerness about the job opportunity, express interest in the meeting's topic, or share your goals for a project if applicable. For example, "I'm honored to be here. This project presents a significant opportunity for all of us," or "I'm excited to work with you all to tackle our clients' biggest challenges!"

Benefits of This Approach:
Using the present, past, and future framework brings numerous benefits to your self-introduction in interviews. First, it helps you maintain focus and structure, reducing the risk of rambling or becoming tongue-tied. Second, by projecting confidence, credibility, and enthusiasm, you reinforce your desired personal brand and leave a positive impression on interviewers. Moreover, using this approach frees you from overthinking your introduction, allowing you to actively listen to others' introductions and engage better with the interview process.

Finally, mastering the art of self-introduction in job interviews is a vital skill that can elevate your chances of success. By utilizing the framework, you can confidently introduce yourself, set a positive tone for the interview, and make a lasting impression. Remember to keep it concise, be enthusiastic, tailor your introduction to the role, practice beforehand, and let your authentic self shine through. So, the next time you face the "Tell me about yourself" question, take a deep breath, think "Present, past, future," and confidently navigate your way to success!
Sports / Nigeria Advances To Knockout Stages In FIFA Women’s World Cup by DamolaDamola: 1:11pm On Jul 31, 2023
Nigeria Advances to Knockout Stages in FIFA Women’s World Cup

Nigeria's impressive run in the FIFA Women’s World Cup continues as they secure a spot in the knockout stages despite a goalless draw against the Republic of Ireland. The Nigerian team extended their unbeaten streak to seven matches, showcasing their resilience and determination on the field.

The match held significant importance for Nigeria, as they kept a close watch on the clash between Australia and Canada in Group B. A win for Nigeria would have potentially secured them the top spot in the group. However, Australia took an early lead, altering the dynamics of the standings.

Nigeria had a chance to take the lead early in the game when Asisat Oshoala made a break behind the Irish defense. Unfortunately, her attempt missed the target, allowing Ireland to keep their hopes alive for their first-ever WWC point.

The first half saw limited action near the goalmouth, but Nigeria seemed comfortable with their position in second place. They were aware of the possibilities to top the group, but the pressure seemed to ease a bit. However, a crucial block from Oluwatosin Demehin saved Nigeria from conceding an almost certain goal by Katie McCabe.

As the match approached its final stages, Nigeria needed a goal to claim the top spot, with Australia holding a significant lead against Canada. Despite their efforts, Nigeria couldn't find the back of the net, leading to a goalless draw. This result secured their second-place finish in the group, and they now eagerly await their opponent in the last-16 stage.

On the other hand, Ireland's journey in their WWC debut came to an end as they crashed out in the group stage. Despite the disappointment, they showed promise and determination throughout their matches.

Nigeria's impressive form and solid performance in the group stage make them a team to watch in the knockout stages of the Women's World Cup. With their eyes set on advancing further, they will undoubtedly give their all in the upcoming matches.
