Your modem which is owned by your ISP is locked to their network. They wouldn't give you the unlock code because they don't wana loose subscribers.
You'll have to figure out a way to unlock it yourself. Do some research, GOOGLE is your friend.

Technically you own the modem since you bought it.
it isn't loaned or rented but that's a matter for another day....
As for unlocking, technically the modem isnt locked, if it was a Huawei or ZTE, it's a simple matter.
All they did is put in a password on the interface where you'll need to change the APN

I have 2 of the small USB Modems(Dongles) that Spectranet sold when they opened.I have since bought a MiFi because they advised it.
However I currently want to use one of the smaller dongles to try out the Ntel Network in my area.
it's the C160 and i think it's made by some Asian Telco (http://www.asiatelco.com/en/product.asp?ClassId=64&Path=0%7C4%7C36%7C64%7C)
The modems are technically unlocked since they can see other networks but the part of the interface where the APN can be changed has a username and password.

The manual says the Service Provider would have the password, yet they keep evading

Isn't this hardware i paid for? Why should I not be able to use it?

Ideal candidate should be self-motivated and be able to speak convincingly to vendors and brides too.

there ARE game developers in Nigeria. Though most focus on mobile and no one has really found mainstream success..
Game development is tough, There is zero funding and you are literally competing in the same market as multi-million dollar cooperations

I don't know if I will be expanding the game anymore though.. Before google took it off, it had gathered just about 400 downloads (not too big a number) and about 10 reviews which are important for rankings. Since they did and made me miss the Christmas season, all it has gotten is like 5 downloads.
They also disabled advertising completely within the app using Admob. meaning even after changing the name, it isn't making any money thereby lowering my motivation to work further on it since time is really limited these days

As for Game Engine, for this particular project, It was gamemaker for sheer speed

Nice discussion guys.
I typically don't enjoy answering questions tagged "what is the best....?
ultimately it depends on your needs and which you are comfortable with, and what results you can produce.
In the early days when I started 3D, there was a constant arguement on which software was best for 3d... 3DS Max, Maya, etc etc .
In the end, the only thing people bother about is what you produce with it. SO do your research and ask and gather thoughts from a bunch of people, then make ur decision , but be adaptable.
Back to the matter

If your target is Android Apps and you want to learn Programming/Development indepth , there's tons of material online, free and paid...
Like Fulman said, get the android SDK, get android studio, and a reasonable amount of data so you can get video tutorials. If they are hosted on youtube, download to your computer/device using a site like clip converter or several apps that can do that,so you can watch them later offline and practice
Learn and build and improve gradually....

If games are your focus, there are tons of tools to make it easier and faster and feel free to use them..
Decide if you want to make 2D games in which case Construct2, GameSalad and GameMaker are applications you should look at...
If 3D, and you are going alone.. definitely Unity3D, Unreal Engine is great and does really awesome stuffbut will take a longer time to learn

So besides work at www.sonbimgames.com and our focusing on our upcoming release Major Mynor,
I was a bit free this week and decided to get in the groove of Christmas in my own way. And push myself to do something basic and nice on a small scale.

So I came up with basic ideas and decided to create one game and one app in time for Christmas.
First was the app Mistletoe Kiss who is just very simple and plays on the (oyinbo) culture of kissing anybody under the mistletoe, so basically you can take it with you , raise your phone above your head and kiss whoever you want
Started this on Tuesday last week and submitted to the stores on Thursday, So took about 2 days.

Just simple fun gameplay. I was tempted to start putting in a variety of enemies, levels, weapons and achievements but had to stop myself, if not... I no for fit release am before Xmas

This one I started on Friday afternoon and released last Night, so like 4 days from scratch (art,code,store submission and all, though I used some old code snippets to save time)

My wife was at the Lagos Airport as well this morning and had to just stay. Fortunately, her flight wasn't cancelled but the return flight back to Lagos from Abuja for today that we had already booked with Aero Contractors was cancelled. Does anyone know what i can do about the situation? They gave a number to call but you know, its all these numbers that can sometimes take long before you get anyone to answer you. Is there any way we can reschedule the flight to tomorrow Friday, should it be their responsibility or ours? If they say available flights for tomorrow are costlier, must we be the one to pay the addition?

If she hadn't left the airport, they would refund or reschedule at no extra cost...

I rescheduled my flight with First Nation and my return with Aero to Monday after 9 hours at the Airport.
My First nation flight finally left at about 3:30pm (an 8:40am flight).
I couldn't go again since I had already missed my 12pm appointment.

We waited in our plane for 2 hours before being asked to go back to the departure lounge...

No where to sit...

The pilot just spoke that at least control tower just gave him info that we are number 6 in the order. This was like 15 minutes ago.


But they didn't tell him the space between numbers. He even said this is better, cause the first time he radioed, they said we can't takeoff till 7pm .
This is for an 8:40am flight.
We are still waiting

We are still grounded.
Since the first 2 aero flights moved. No other flights have. I am in First nation and a medview flight loaded too and has been beside us since.
It's been an hour and 30 minutes.
The worst bit is I am supposed to return today by 6. Only God knows if that flight will still happen at this rate

We have been in the plane for almost an hour.
The pilot said he just heard of the strike and the control tower put us on 'delay'.
He can't give us a definite take off time. That he just heard else he would have preferred we wait in the lobby

I don't even know if this means the strike is back on.. nobody is talking to us

First 2 flights just took off... like an hour late
Thank God though.
But the delay will spill over all through today

Update: They just called the 2 flights to board again.
Hopefully the people were just flexing muscle.

I am currently at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport in Abuja.
Two flights just offloaded passengers who had boarded. They say FAAN workers just started a strike.
Can anyone confirm this at different locations?
Update:: They just announced arrival of a Medview Flight... but they say that one took off before they started so it will land and stop
This is bad o. I have a 12pm appointment in Lag.
My flight is for 8:40 so we are all waiting for updates..

UPDATE ----TUESDAY 20th January
And we made it!!! It's now TOP 100
at number 93...
