Career › Re: My Mum Wants Me To Take Over Her School But I Want Something Else. by danberg: 3:01pm On Jan 18, 2018 |
CeeJay9ja: Hello,
Please I need your advice on how to make a decision that will not hurt me in the future. I am a graduate but due to the situation of the country, it was difficult for me to get a standard job so I resigned where I was managing and decided to learn trading.
During the period of "No job frustration" I was assisting my mother in her school and teaching Basic 5 & 6. That period, I attracted more students to her school and parents were giving me good Commendation.
After a year, I went out to learn trading and when I came back, I decided to start something no matter how small. I have started sale of Electrical parts, though I have not gotten much customers.
Just last night, my mum called me and said she would want me to take over her school business, that she is getting too old to continue. She said she will not be happy if I abandon the school and let it die like that. On my own part, I want to grow my business and I need more concentration on it. Now, I have a divided plan.
I don't want to abandon my business plans and at the same time, I dont want her stuggle to just die like that...
I need your advice, please. OP, It's a little more complicated than you may think or what many here advise. Just because your mum wants you to run the school doesn't mean the others (your siblings) would look the other way, if and when you turn things around and school becomes a money spinner. Even if they do, what makes you think their children will? The idea of generational businesses hasn't really worked well in this part of the world for obvious reasons (except for a few examples). Be smart! Your business is your own entirely, so build it conscientiously till you make it a success. In the meantime, get a liked-minded educated young man you can trust to handle affairs at your mum's school (you don't have the monopoly of knowledge/ability) while you act as director, coming in unannounced daily to see how things are going. Your mum may protest but let her see reason. In the future, when you have made a success of your business, you can pump money into the school and make it much bigger and more profitable but not before, you convene a family meeting to create a board and legal documents drawn up by your attorney. Cheers! |

justwise: I don't always disagree with you but in this case i have to, he applied for British passport before and was refused for some unclear reasons and now you want him to apply for visiting visa without mentioning his British citizenship status, have you forgotten that they have his record already and the reason for the previous application? You can only do that if you have never applied for British passport before and they have no record of you as British citizen. Refused due to insufficient docs Thanks |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by danberg: 2:47pm On Jan 17, 2018 |
ekpotek: Emergency travel document are only issued if your British passport is missing/stolen and you need to travel back to UK urgently. In this case you are not qualified for ET as you have never held a Adult British passport before. You're correct. Apparently the info I got wasn't accurate. I spoke to the person involved yesternight and discovered she lost her previous British passport. Thanks |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by danberg: 2:45pm On Jan 17, 2018 |
ekpotek: If you have Nigerian passport with good travel history and good financial income in Nigeria, you can apply for visit visa. Just dont disclose your British Nationality in the application. Just apply as a Nigerian born in the UK. My wife was in your shoes as she was born British by birth, but grew up in Nigeria. She got a UK visitor visa by applying as a Nigeria in 2013. However, her two subsequent application in 2014 was denied because she had a pending British passport application she submitted upon arrival in the UK in 2013. Thank God she go her British Passport issued eventually in 2015 in Nigeria. If you want to fight for your British passport contact an immigration lawyer. Thanks for your response Ekpotek. Your response is spot-on! Thanks again |

Bottom line; Don't travel out If you're not a professional (Health etc) or If you do not possess a skill set. (Digital marketing, financial trading, project management using Scrum etc).

Hello House, Happy New Year all
Great job Op and all contributors here.
Kindly advise;
I want to know if applying for a UK visa would be okay as I intend travelling to appeal my UK passport denial. (I am a UK citizen by birth but have lived in Nigeria and never had a British passport).
Passport application was refused in last stage due to Nigerian countersignatory (a pastor) referring to me as his brother back in 2000 or so. My wife travelled to London early 2017 and we plan going together by March/April.
Thank you
P.S. Someone told me of a lady who got a temporary travel document to UK from Accra (she never had a UK passport before). Would this approach work in my circumstance?
Thanks again for your prompt response. |

Scatterscatter: T.B Joshua is not a prophet but a sorcerer!
He is an outcast and a spiritual bastard as far as the Nigerian christian community is concerned.
CAN does not know him! PFN does not know him!
The Catholic church believes in tithing, The Protestants also believe in tithing.
T.B Joshua does not fall in any category, so it is ok for him to tell his members to pay their tithes in anyway they deem fit. The question is, is that scriptural?
T.B Joshua is a dundee utd! No bible sense at all.
Useless demonized pair from hell!
Judge not for by the same measure you use, same will be used against you.
Did God institute CAN or PFN? These are just mere bodies of political churchgoers who don't really care about the body of Christ but the dues that will be remitted to their coffers.
You have a right to your belief and who you choose to follow but this doesn't give you any right to insult who you don't agree with. Be careful so your tongue won't lead you to hell.

The causes of Bunion has been researched widely by several institutions and even militaries such as that of Australia, which conducted studies on their soldiers' foot deformities, its causes etc. Bunion according to research is largely hereditary but can be exacerbated by the use of uncomfortable footwear.
Bunion has also been linked to the onset of gout in some studies. It is mostly found in people with the flatfoot syndrome; a structural/mechanical foot deformity that causes the arch beneath the foot to collapse, causing the foot to rest flatly on the ground due to hypertrophied plantar foot muscles. Some cases in men have been traced to high levels of female hormones.
Bunion is not a big deal, I have it too. Mine is hereditary. It can be corrected by surgery if painful but if its not severe, you don't have to. Note that it is not a disease! |

You can decide to register with a reliable Forex trading company abroad as their IB (introducing broker) in Nigeria. I have close associates (Mtrading and Blackwell) who made tons of money from this. They get paid rebates by the foreign Forex brokerage for transactions done by their clients in Nigeria. You can easily make #1,000,000 monthly but you need to have a working knowledge of the Forex industry and insider trade secrets. I'm working on one at the moment, pm me if you're interested.
Finally, you can trade the money directly in the Forex market. The pro is you don't have overheads (rent, staffs, utility, tax, adverts, etc) that will gulp your capital. It all goes in your account. The con is the risk (the reason many are afraid of it) but we have many banks and individuals making a killing from it monthly (was a supervisory bank trader myself). It's no big deal, just ensure a competent portfolio manager does it for you. #1 million naira monthly is 15% monthly returns on your #6 million and shouldn't be hassle. You should test the waters with smaller amounts just to be sure.
Again, I can help if you're interested.
All the best! |

There are a number of businesses that can bring you profits of a million Naira monthly but whether that would be possible with a capital outlay of six million Naira is another thing altogether.
When you consider the cost of doing business in Nigeria; power, tax, staff emoluments, running costs and other utilities etc, you will agree with me that declaring pure profits of a million monthly is hardly feasible since it would mean you making between two to three times the said amount every month!
However, there are businesses you can start now, though your monthly returns may be in tens of thousands at the start, gradually you reinvest and prudently grow your business till you can earn a million naira profit monthly.
Someone mentioned e-currency business. I started that with a business partner in 2009/2010 and gradually grew it till we had monthly turnovers of #10m average but it didn't happen immediately. It took years of prudent spending and reinvestment. |
