I'd rather go for Rice.... Me wey dry pass Harmattan... |
What would you rather gave as Christmas gift?
A can of
fifty litters petrol or a bag of rice or both. The fuel queues has just refused to go away making petrol the most prized item in Nigeria today It is just not funny again. No petrol, rice is expensive. To make matters worse, long queues that began more than a month ago have refused to go away. Every day, Nigerians are going about their different cities in search of fuel to power their cars and generators. Petrol is so essential that one cannot just imagine life without it. An average Nigerian will give an arm for a can of petrol. But the more Nigerians demand for petrol to power their lives, the more it becomes the commodity becomes harder to get. Petrol scarcity or not, a bag of rice will be appreciated by an Nigerian average family Now it seems our entire lives is being defined by the all important petrol. We need it to provide light, to move about and to do our businesses. The more we want to consume the more it difficult it gets to procure a commodity we produce in large quantity as a supposedly petrol producing country. Is any coincidence that petrol scarcity comes every yuletide season? Are jinxed in this country that we should always lack what we are supposed to have in abundance? Rubbers filled with petrol can be a gift item this season Now the Christmas season is upon us and we are still searching for fuel. Instead od sharing the rice and hampers, we will be more grateful if we can lay our hands on a few cans of fuel. This has prompted me to ask: Which item has become more essential? A bag of rice or a can of petrol. This may be funny but let’s us know what you think by participating in the poll below. |
The top ten things you didn't know about Christmas 1. The earliest known reference to Christ’s birthday being on December 25 was in a Roman calendar compiled in AD354. 2. Why the date of December 25 was chosen is a bit of a mystery. Some say it was simply a continuation of the Roman feast of Saturnalia celebrating the winter solstice on that date... 3. Others say it was simply nine months after the date given for Christ’s conception on March 25. Cole’s first Christmas card was designed by the painter John Callcott Horsley.. 4. The word Christmas comes from the Old English Christes Maesse (Christ’s Mass) which was first recorded in 1123. 5. The custom of sending Christmas cards was started in 1843 by Sir Henry Cole… 6.Cole’s first Christmas card was designed by the painter John Callcott Horsley. 7. It was not until 1883 that such cards were referred to as Christmas cards... The earliest reference to a Christmas tree was in 1835 and the Christmas pudding in 1858. 8. ...and the earliest reference to a Christmas tree was in 1835 and the Christmas pudding in 1858. 9. Love’s Labour’s Lost and The Taming Of The Shrew are the only Shakespeare plays that mention Christmas. 10. The first song broadcast from space was Jingle Bells on December 16, 1965. Jingle Bells was originally written in 1857 for Thanksgiving.. Wishing You All Merry Christmas... |
Nigerian commercial banks have been directed to freeze the accounts of some suspects involved in the alleged N31billion Office of National Security Adviser (ONSA) scandal. The Nation reports that some companies, House of Representatives members as well as Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chiefs are affected. It was reported that the Former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki and others had perfected their bail conditions as at yesterday December 23. Justice Peter Affen of a Federal High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) also banned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from re-arresting Dasuki, ex-Minister Bashir Yuguda, ex- ONSA Director of Finance, Shuaibu Salisu, Sagir Attahiru and ex-Governor Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa. It was reported that the banks accounts where the slush funds were paid into has been asked to Post No Bill (PNB). All the banks, where the accounts of those affected are domiciled, have been asked to Post No Bill (PNB). According to a reliable source in the EFCC the PNB is limited to accounts where the slush funds were deposited and other traceable accounts. He said: “We decided to place restriction as part of our ongoing investigation into the scandal. We have informed all relevant banks that we are probing some transactions relating to such accounts. “Those affected are the accused persons and all those named as having benefited from the disbursement of funds. The list is longer than you have been reading about. On the list are companies, individuals serving as fronts, accused persons, PDP stalwarts, and some serving or former members of the House of Representatives. “We want to be at an advantage where we can recover looted funds as may be determined by the court,” the source added. Responding to a question, the source added that the restriction is in line with Section 34(1) (2) of the EFCC Act. The statement reads: “Notwithstanding anything contained in any other enactment or law, the chairman of the commission or any officer authorized by him may, if satisfied that the money in the account of a person is made through the commission of an offence under this Act or any enactments specified under Section 6(2) (a)-(f) of this Act , apply to the Court for ex-parte power to issue or instruct a bank examiner or such other appropriate regulatory agency to issue an order as specified in Form B of the Schedule to this Act, addressed to the manager of the bank or any person in control of the financial institution where the account is or believed by him to be or the head office of the bank or other financial institution to freeze the account. “The Chairman of the commission or any officer authorised by him may by an order issued under sub- section (1) of this section or by any subsequent order, direct the bank or other financial institution to supply any information and produce books and documents relating to the account and to stop all outward payments, operations or transactions (including any bill of exchange) in respect of the account of the arrested person. “The manager or any other person in control of the financial institution shall take necessary steps to comply with the requirements of the order made pursuant to sub-section(2) of this section.” However, some of the affected suspects confirmed the restriction placed on their accounts. One of the defence counsel said: “Our clients have been informed about the restriction of access to their accounts. I think the EFCC did so because it is still investigating some transactions. “The commission also does not want them to withdraw what is left in those accounts.” Also, a House of Representatives member who pleaded anonymity said: A member of the House of Representatives said: “I don’t have access to my account in which my salaries and allowances are being paid into. “I did not benefit from any campaign funds. The N50million allegedly traced to my account was no slush fund at all; it was payment for a consultancy job, which was awarded through due process after the consideration of the feasibility study. “The money for the service was paid after the election. I did not benefit from any campaign fund. I don’t engage in dirty deals. I have a good reputation.” Source: https://www.naij.com/676989-dasukigate-court-orders-banks-freeze-accounts-suspects.html |
A lot of people complain about their job and how unhappy it makes them. They bemoan the stress, their colleagues, their bosses, and their job specification. But seeing as you spend a large percentage of your time at work, you need to find ways to make things more tolerable. These tips below will help. 1. Find a sounding board: One tip to feeling ‘at home’ at work is having a work friend. Having someone you can talk to and vent to could make things a lot better. Only someone working where you work can understand your struggles, so your outside friends will not be able to provide the comfort you need. 2. Take breaks: It is tempting for you to show your dedication by working through your breaks. But you need to realize that your brain/body gets tired. You need to take a step back, even if it is for 10 minutes, to re-energize and de-stress. 3. Relax: Do not overthink everything and try not to be too tense. You should understand that things change and you will only be adding to your stress if you do not learn to let go. Just because you had a bad day does not mean you should expect the next day to go badly too. Avoid expecting the worst out of every day or everything because you already assume your job sucks. Things might turn around. 4. Move: Get off you seat and take a walk. This will not only help blood circulate better, but it can also help your brain reboot if you are having difficulties. 5. Be grateful: When you approach situations with a feeling of gratefulness, it becomes more difficult to be depressed. Appreciate the opportunity you have. Appreciate how far you have come. Stop being so hard on yourself and remember that, people will give anything to be in the position you are. https://www.naij.com/676461-5-ways-make-happier-job.html cc:lalasticlala...Ishilove |
A group, Faleke Solidarity Movement (FSM) has issued a stern warning that if James Faleke is not declared the governor-elect of Kogi state before January 10, 2016, it would ground activities in the state. Faleke group vowed to ensure that Bello is not inaugurated This warning is coming as a new government will be inaugurated on January` 27, 2016. The group issued the ultimatum in a communiqué immediately after its end-of-the-year meeting in Kabba. The FSM noted that the declaration of Yahaya Bello as the governor-elect is a miscarriage of justice, Vanguard reports. It insisted that Faleke was the right person to replace the late Prince Abubakar Audu since he contested the election on the same ticket. TheFSM’s communiqué reads: “ It is unfortunate that INEC took the path of illegality by declaring Yahaya Bello as the Governor-Elect of the state. Faleke was on the same ticket with the late Prince Abubakar Audu and they had won the election before Audu’s death. “As a group, we cannot be intimidated by the threat of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress who have shown its bias against the emergence of Faleke. A party that promises change shouldn’t be seen to be defiling the constitution with impunity. “We give INEC till January 10, 2016 to declare Faleke as Governor-Elect or we will mobilize our members across the state to occupy Lokoja until the needful is done. INEC should be prevailed upon not to plunge this nation into unimaginable crisi s.” In swift reaction, another group, Bello Support Organisation, who is loyal to governor-elect, Bello, has called on the people of the state to support Bello’s incoming administration saying that he will improve the welfare of the Kogi people. It also called on the youth of the state to resist the temptation of being used by politicians to disrupt the peace of the state. The group assured that the APC remains united front for the development of the state. “We are aware of efforts at reconciling aggrieved parties in the governorship poll in the state. These efforts must be given a chance to succeed instead of overheating the polity. The Deputy Governor-Elect is a gentleman who will not want to throw the state into crisis. We hereby call on his supporters to ensure APC remains one indivisible entity in Kogi State ,” the Bello support group said. Meanwhile, there are strong indications that the All Progressives Congress had turned its searchlight on the Igalas for a deputy governor , following the refusal of Faleke, the late Prince Abubakar Audu’s running mate in the November 21 Kogi state governorship election, to act as the deputy to governor-elec Bello. Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company commenced production on Saturday December 19, months after production was suspended at the refinery. Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue, managing director, Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) said the refinery was reopened to meet up with the December deadline for the four refineries to return to full production. The PPMC boss disclosed to Premium Times that the refinery is expected to commence trucking of petrol by the end of next week. ”Kaduna refinery came back on stream on Saturday as scheduled and is running. PMS (Premium Motor spirit, also called petrol) should be available for trucking by the end of the week. The refinery is expected to produce an average of about 1.6 million litres of PMS daily once in full operation,” she said Nnamdi-Ogbue said resumption of production in other refineries would start before the end of the year. According to her, production will start first at the 210,000 bpd-capacity Port Harcourt refinery which was shut-down in October while the 125,000 bpd-capacity Warri refinery would be the last to come back on stream. As the refinery resumes for production, there are hopes that it will cushion the effect of the ongoing fuel scarcity in the country. The fact that PPMC is currently saddled with the responsibility of importing and supplying 100 per cent of the average 40 million litres daily national fuel consumption capacity compounds the model of distribution of the products across the country. PPMC and the other oil marketers used to share the responsibility of importing fuel at the ratio of 52:48 but the major and independent oil marketers involved in the fuel importation programme in the country had opted out due the backlog of unpaid fuel subsidy and accumulated foreign exchange differential. According to NNPC monthly operational report for October, the Kaduna refinery was temporarily shut down when its utilisation capacity dropped to about 2.6 per cent and 10.5 per cent respectively. The Kaduna plant which is currently undergoing a test run of its production lines has the capacity to refine 110,000 barrels of crude oil a day. The group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Ibe Kachikwu, had earlier issued a 90-day ultimatum to the managements of the four refineries shortly after his appointment last August. Mustafa Yahaya on a Facebook page of Loud Mouthed Nigerian shares his views on why there are no differences between Buhari’s regime and Goodluck Jonathan’s. President Muhammadu Buhari Is it because it is Buhari? I marvel at the way and manner we think in this country, worst of it the way we think in the north. It is just a few months ago that we all continually lambasted President Jonathan’s cluelessness, I referred to him as the “drunken master of Otuoke”, and nobody harassed me, and now because they fear the power of the media that brought them to power they want to castrate the social media, with Buhari firing the first shot in an interview with Sahara reporters’ Adeola in New York, why, is it because it is Buhari? Buhari wants us to swallow the same pill We demonstrated against pump price increment for petrol, government of President Buhari wants us to swallow the same pill we rejected a few months ago, yet some of my northern compatriots see nothing wrong with that, is it because it is Buhari? When three sons of Sheik Zakzaky were murdered during the Jonathan administration, El-Rufai called it genocide by the Jonathanian army, now under Buhari more than 200 are killed, their mosque and houses destroyed under El-Rufai’s nose as Governor of the same state, he has not called it genocide by the Buharian army, is it because it is Buhari? Under the Jonathan administration subsidy payments were termed as fraud, and there were hues and cries to crucify oil marketers, Buhari even called it a fraud himself, we also thought so. Six months later the same Buhari is paying for subsidy yet nobody is calling it a fraud, why, is it because it is Buhari? We criticized Jonathan for keeping a large fleet in the presidential fleet and wasting monies on maintenance, only recently President Buhari’s spokesman admitted 2 billion Naira was spent on their maintenance, when other presidents are even doing away with their jets, yet we sit down and watch helplessly, is it because it Buhari? Fuel scarcity is biting harder, value of the Naira is going rock bottom, inflation is now on auto pilot, while profits are dropping, purchasing powers are becoming weaker, yet we are asked not to query them, is it because it is Buhari? Nigeria matters and not whether Jonathan is a Southerner or Buhari is a Northerner. If we criticized Jonathan for cluelessness, we will also criticize Buhari for helplessness. While tribal and regional jingoist sees nothing because it is Buhari, what I see first is Nigeria and not whether Jonathan is a Southerner or Buhari is a Northerner. We cannot continue to be trapped in the closet of tribalism, regionalism and religious bigotry yet expect our country to remain one and grow. Yes! We might be of different orientation and background but what is good is good anywhere any time and what is bad is bad, I cannot be suffering and keep smiling because “my brother” is the president. Reports from Bayelsa state indicate that the commissioner for local government, Serefina Otazi, has been kidnapped. NAN reports that she was abducted on Sunday, December 20, in Otuoke, the hometown of former President Goodluck Jonathan. The nephew to the commissioner, who gave his name as Patrick Oba, told newsmen that Otazi, was abducted at Ewoi community in Ogbia local government area of the state on her way to a funeral ceremony. It was gathered that the abductors sneaked her away from the company of two other ladies. She had previously served as commissioner for women affairs and acting chairman of Ogbia council. Another family member of the commissioner, identified as Endurance Frank, said the family had already reported the abduction at the police station. He prayed that she should be released unhurt. Meanwhile, the commissioner’s abduction came after Nancy Dickson, the younger sister to the state governor, Seriake Dickson, was also kidnapped last week. Reports have it that the governor’s younger sister was whisked away from her shop along Okaka road in Yenagoa, the state capital . Recall that Governor Dickson’s younger sister kidnap was treated with political undertone as the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Sylva- Igiri Campaign Organisation described the accusation allegedly made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state as the most stupid statement ever issued by anybody. In a related development Prince Eke was abducted on Owerri-Port Harcourt road as he was returning from a movie location in Delta state on Saturday, December 5. His abductors, on Thursday, December 9, demanded for N15 million ransom or he will be buried alive. Muhammadu Buhari’s special adviser Femi Adesina in a Saturday chat with The Punch disclosed the government’s plans regarding the fight against Boko Haram. Responding to the question whether the presidency plans to seek external military help to end insurgency, Adesina stated categorically that foreign mercenaries would not be hired. He reiterated Buhari’s position concerning the national army which in his his view has enough capacity to crush terrorism in the country. The official added, however, that Buhari appreciated the foreign military cooperation. Adesina was quoted as saying: “The position of the president has always been that he believes the military has the capacity to fight terrorism. President Buhari has always made it clear that Nigeria will appreciate support in terms of equipment, training and intelligence. The support the president is seeking is definitely not in terms of manpower or what you will call mercenaries.” The comments come ahead of the deadline previously set by President Buhari to the service chiefs: to eliminate insurgency by the end of this year. Meanwhile, suspected Boko Haram terrorists on November 18 launched a bloody suicide attack in Kano, having killed at least 20 people. Critics doubt that the president would be able to deliver his promise by December. https://www.naij.com/645097-boko-haram-will-buhari-hire-mercenaries-adesina-responds.htmln cc:lalasticlala |
Cardinal John Onaiyekan, the catholic Archbishop of Abuja, has revealed what President Muhammadu Buhari should do to stop the deadly Boko Haram insurgency. The prominent cleric has advised the incumbent Nigerian leader to involve the sect in negotiations. Onaiyekan, who is the ex- president of the Christian Association of Nigeria spoke in Abuja at the 2015 Catholic Television of Nigeria dinner. The cleric said: “ What happened in Mali can happen here. We do not need people to cause this kind of great calamity. “The question is how do you create a situation where such things don’t happen? “It is not easy but you can do all you can to put security apparatus around but you cannot do it in such a way that no bad people will move around. “As a spiritual leader, the solution is first we should pray because God can do everything. “Secondly, we should look into our religious messages, because many of these terrorists are also calling the name of some religion, calling the name of God. “But we must find a way of letting them (Boko Haram members) know that this is not what God wants. “I personally do not know how to achieve this but I believe that a lot still needs to be done. “When you (government) reply fire for fire I am afraid it does not solve the problem. “So, apart from military tactics there is need for more effort as political discussion, reaching out to people. “Even the terrorists are human beings born of a woman with feelings. I am sure somebody somewhere can talk to them.” During the presidential campaign Buhari pledged not to hold talks with the terrorists if chosen as president. Meanwhile, in a BBC interview several months ago the president has welcomed talks with Boko Haram insurgents. The last ceasefire agreement between the militants and Nigerian government in October 2014 has failed when the Boko Haram sect rejected that they had agreed to a ceasefire with Goodluck Jonathan’s government. Negotiations with the insurgents in recent years have failed to achieve a peace deal, partly because it has several rival factions. For the sake of our marriages, relationships or just spiritual well-being, we need to be able to find the answer. You are in a battle against sexual lust. Here is how you win: 1. Consistent prayer. Prayer is the act of communicating your thoughts, worries, hopes and dreams to God. Lift up the desires you are feeling and ask for help. God made you and knows you and can deliver you time and time again. 2. Avoid pornography. Besides the obvious reason—that avoiding porn will help guard against lust—there are psychological reasons as well. Porn creates unrealistic expectations and desensitizes our minds toward our spouses. They can’t possibly live up to what is viewed, and would we even want them to? This pushes the focus of your sexual desires outside of the home and can only lead to paths of destruction. 3. Use social media with caution. The benefits of the age of social networks are many. The pitfalls are equally as great. We are reunited with people from our past and introduced to those who are new. Old sparks can be renewed or new ones can be lit. For a married man, this can be extremely perilous. Always remain alert to true intentions when using social media. 4. Consider the consequences. Fear is a great protector. While pondering the object of your desire, also ponder the consequences of action. Do you want to wind up in couples therapy? Could your lust lead to an STD or even an addiction? If you think of these things while your desires are at their peak, you will find them quickly receding to normal levels. 5. Question your intent. Most times when our minds wander sexually, we aren’t really seeking pure sex. We are seeking to replace something missing in our lives and our relationships. For each man, these things will be specific to his experiences. Figure out the root issue and work to correct it. 6. Practice sexual intimacy. Do you remember falling in love and the feeling that nobody in the world existed except the person you loved? The reason for that is the high level of intimacy that was shared while you were getting to know each other. While there is no reset button to start the marital relationship over, there are certainly plenty of ways to regain that level of intimacy. Improving communication, date nights, passionate kissing and thoughtful gestures are just a few examples. When our minds and hearts are occupied in the right place, sexual lust has little room to operate. 7. Avoid tempting situations. The last thing you want to do is find yourself alone with the object of your lustful desires. If contact with that person is a must, then make sure it is always in a public space and others are around. Do not paint yourself into a corner where further action is possible. 8. Choose your friends wisely. When battling lust, there are plenty of people we can find who will enable that to grow even more powerful. As men, we all have friends who are single and living that lifestyle, who are married but cheating, or who are just drawn to trouble. You can still be their friend, but by all means avoid joining them in their choices. 9. Keep high standards. To be a gentleman is a choice— a very good choice, and this world today needs a great many more. Despite the vast amount of temptations life throws our way, we should hold ourselves to the highest of moral standards. Self-discipline in all areas of life leads to positive results. 10. Harness your passion. In most cases, overwhelming sexual lust is really just a desire to release the deep passion inside of you that has nothing to do with sex. Instead, direct that passion in positive directions. Volunteer at a homeless shelter. Coach a youth sports team. Mentor troubled individuals. The satisfaction that comes from building and creating will defeat the destruction that comes from succumbing to the path of sexual lust and desire. |
1. There is almost no evidence whatsoever that the early church had their “services” on a Sunday. They gathered together ‘from house to house’ virtually every day! People did not dress up and “go to church.” There were no denominations or separate groups with different ‘labels.’ They lived their lives together – And the apostles in Jerusalem preached everyday at a huge open-air gathering, not “hidden away” inside four walls. Church buildings do not exist in the Bible. They were invented around 200-300 AD, when the church was in serious decline. Church buildings are anti-New Testament, and they bring with them a host of problems and traditions. It was when the church fell into the hands of Rome that this concept of the “cathedral” took over. And today, we are still spending millions building these beautiful monuments while the worshippers are starving. 2. The words “prosper” or ‘prosperity’ were NEVER used by Jesus at all – and only mentioned a few times in the entire New Testament. Yet our greedy pastors have built kingdoms upon them. The words – “sell what you have and give to the poor” and “deceitfulness of riches” and “you cannot serve God and mammon” and “woe to you that are rich” were DEFINITELY used by Jesus and the apostles, but you don’t hear them preached by your pastors, do you? 3. Tithing is not a New Testament practice at all. And it is being shamefully abused by today’s preachers. In the Old Testament, tithing was only applicable to Jews and to the land of Israel and that was at a time when a great number of them lived in Babylon, Ammon, Moab, Egypt and Syria. As a result of that, the land they occupied became tithe-able lands. Tithes were not acceptable from Gentiles’ lands. So my brothers and sisters, you need to ask your pastor why he is collecting tithes here in Nigeria. Also, the only people authorised to receive tithes were the Levites – (Hebrews 7:5). If your pastor is collecting tithe from you, ask him if he’s from the tribe of Levi. Even Jesus who was a Jew couldn’t collect tithes because he wasn’t from the tribe of Levi but from that of Judah. And if your pastor insists that being a worker in the lord’s vineyard qualifies him as a Levite, please remind him that Levites had no land and did not own properties. 4. The Jesus of today’s church is a “Father Christmas,” a Jesus who exists mainly for our own “happiness;” a Father Christmas who wants to rain down continual blessings upon us; a Jesus of grace and mercy without judgement, righteousness or truth. Our gross misrepresentation of who Jesus really is, is one of the most serious offences of today’s church. We worship a “plastic” Jesus – one that we have painted in our own image. What an offence to God. 5. What we have today are churches that are so loose that they excuse any sin or misconduct, including homosexuality and adultery. Aren’t we supposed to accept only the truth of God’s word? But instead, we have opted for a modern church that is socially based, smooth and sophisticated, and presented like a Nollywood movie with men and women of ogboni fraternity dressed in their occultic regalia occupying special seats during services. Something is wrong! 6. What happened to the strong calls for repentance that brought thousands down to the altar to repent and ask Jesus Christ to save their souls? This is the litmus test for Christianity; it is the essence of the Cross; it is the great commission that Jesus commanded us with. If your church is not winning souls, then it is like a barren woman, and it is a shame. Something is wrong! 7. What happened to the outpouring of the Holy Ghost? Do we even know what it means anymore to feel the presence of the Spirit of God descend on a service and fill up the room with holiness? Or we just love that party atmosphere and excitement when the choir plays a boogie-down song? Or we love to scream “ride on pastor” in the excitement we get when some charismatic preacher works the crowd? It’s been so long we’ve felt the presence of the Holy Spirit that we don’t know what it is anymore. Something is definitely wrong! 8. Lots of pastors are aware that there is something very wrong with the church today. They know there is little ‘fear of the Lord.’ They know there is no deep repentance or deep moving of the Holy Spirit. They know that it is just the same old “game” being played every week. A lot of them are very aware of this, but they will not do anything about it. They will not rock the boat. And they will destroy anyone who comes along trying to do something. They do not want any reforms. There is too much to lose. They have their careers and their “kingdoms” at stake. This is the truth of the matter. Most of you are worshippers of your pastors and not God. Many of you are hell bound. So pray my brothers and sisters. Pray for your souls. Let me stop here and leave room for you to call me names. But do remember that the church is leading you to hell – not me! |

repentance and believing in Jesus
Christ alone for salvation. You are
saved only by faith in Christ and
what he did for you on that cross.

believer in Christ should desire to
attend a biblical church and have
regular fellowship with other
believers. It is essential in your
walk of faith and will help you as
God makes you into the image of
Christ. On Sunday mornings you
can either make a bad habit of
being lazy and doing things that
have nothing to do with God. Or
you can make a good habit of
waking up and participating in a
godly church in your area.
Christians don’t obey Scripture or
go to church because we think it
saves us. We do it because we
desire Christ and are so thankful
for what he did for us. You can
never have enough of hearing the
Gospel of Jesus Christ. Do not
neglect meeting together. Make
regular church attendance your
priority. You know what God wants
you to do so do it. You will have
more zeal for Christ and you will
not be disappointed. Don’t go to
church for the wrong reasons, but
for the right ones. 1. Jesus Christ died for the church Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. 2. We must be imitators of Christ and his apostles Luke 4:16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, Mark 1:21 Jesus and his companions went to the town of Capernaum. When the Sabbath day came, he went into the synagogue and began to teach. Luke 6:6 And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered. Acts 11:26 and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch. 1 Corinthians 11:1 Be ye followers of me , even as I also am of Christ. 3. You learn and better understand Scripture. It increases your growth in your walk of faith. Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom , singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 2 Timothy 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. Proverbs 1:5 Let the wise hear and increase in learning , and the one who understands obtain guidance. 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 4. There is more guidance Proverbs 11:14 Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety. Proverbs 24:6 for by wise guidance you can wage your war, and in abundance of counselors there is victory. 5. To have fellowship with your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ 1 John 1:3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. Matthew 18:20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Matthew 28:20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” 6. It is important to have fellowship with other believers. Share, encourage, teach, love, help, etc. Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another –and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. Acts 2:42-47 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. 7. To worship God John 4:23-24 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” Psalms 150:6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD ! Praise the LORD! 1 Corinthians 10:31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. Romans 12:1-2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. 8. Christians make up the body of Christ. We belong to each other and we are to use what God has equipped us with for good. Romans 12:4-5 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. Romans 12:6-8 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. Ephesians 4:11-12 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:26-27 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it . Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 9. To be a good example 1 Timothy 4:12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. Ephesians 5:1-2 Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. 10. It is important for spiritual growth and spiritual strength Colossians 1:9-10 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. 1 Peter 2:2-5 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. As you come to him, the living Stone —rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Ephesians 6:10-18 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people 11. To put God first. Instead of doing other things on Sunday go to church Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness , and all these things will be given to you as well. 12. It is never good to isolate yourself from other believers. In your time of need how can someone help you? In someone else’s time of need how can you help them? Your spiritual growth will be hindered. Proverbs 18:1 Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment. Going to church regularly is doing God’s will. As a reminder just because there are many people in a building doesn’t mean that is a church. Don’t go to a worldly church, but actually get up, stop making stupid excuses, and find a biblical place of worship today!! (Ephesians 5:17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.) |
