All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, in partnership with the Africa Union Commission, AUC, will open submission of entries for this year’s edition of the continental awards on Monday, May 18, 2015.
Music professionals of African origin including artistes, songwriters, video directors, music/entertainment journalists and music producers resident on the continent or abroad are eligible to enter in any of the 33 award categories and entry submission closes on Monday, July 20, 2015. Works to be submitted must be produced in the year under review –May 31, 2014 to July 20, 2015.
Format of submission: Detailed information about eligibility and format of submission is available on www.afrima.org. Entries should be done by completing the registration form on AFRIMA website while a URL link of the music work on YouTube, SoundCloud, MySpace and other compatible platforms must be included in the space provided on the entry registration form.
 
For hard copy entries, download the registration form and the completed copy alongside two copies of the entry must be sent to the nearest physical address provided on the AFRIMA website.
The dates for entry submission and closing were recently announced by the AFRIMA President/Executive Producer, Mr. Mike Dada during the AUC-AFRIMA Joint Conference held on April 29, 2015 at the African Union Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The conference witnessed by international media, select African music super stars, members of the international committee of AFRIMA and senior AUC officials, also served as a forum for unveiling the AFRIMA 2015 event calendar by the AUC Commissioner of Social Affairs, His Excellency, Dr. Mustapha S. Kaloko who formally declared the 2015 activities of AFRIMA open.
While explaining the series of activities and programmes lined up on the AFRIMA 2015 calendar for African music followers and lovers, Mr. Dada urged talented and eligible music professionals to optimise their chances of earning a nomination for AFRIMA in 2015.
“Last year, many artistes contacted AFRIMA Regional Directors and Country Directors complaining that they were not nominated. The reality is if an artiste does not submit his or her work during the entry submission window, then he or she misses the opportunity to have the music work considered or even nominated for its merit by the AFRIMA jury”, Dada said.
 
Earlier during his address at the cultural conference, Dr. Mustapha Kaloko who represented the AUC Chairperson, Her Excellency, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, reiterated the pivotal role of people in the African music industry in moving forward the Africa Union’s social development agenda.
“The AUC has an agenda, not for the governments of Africa alone but also for the young people. Our agenda is to move the continent forward in any way we can and people from the music industry are one of the best vehicles to move agendas forward. So, we are proud of you and your achievements in bringing the music of Africa to greater repute around the world”.
Dr. Kaloko added that: “The AU calendar for Social Affairs wants to use every opportunity available to us for social development and we have particular emphasis on youth because we believe they are the ones who will continue to push the agenda for Africa’s development in the future”.
It will be recalled that the 2014 AFRIMA held in Lagos, Nigeria on December 27 in partnership with the Africa Union Commission. The star-studded event was televised live and produced along cultural themes. Nigeria’s Dangote, an Arsenal fan worth $15.7 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, discussed buying a stake in the club five years ago before talks with the owners fell through, he said. Since then his wealth has grown more than sevenfold.
“I still hope, one day at the right price, that I’ll buy the team,” Dangote, 58, said in an interview as he traveled on a plane owned by one of his companies between the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa and the Nigerian commercial hub of Lagos on May 1.
“I might buy it, not at a ridiculous price but a price that the owners won’t want to resist. I know my strategy.”
Arsenal is one of England’s most successful clubs, having won 13 top flight league titles in the country, the most after Manchester United and Liverpool.
Arsenal Holdings Plc., the owner, trades on the ICAP Securities & Derivatives Exchange, or ISDX, and is valued at 988 million pounds ($1.49 billion).
A successful bid would make Dangote the first African owner of a club which is of global standard.

Don’t be a blabbermouth. Use discretion when telling mutual friends about your break up. Bragging or gossiping could be very hurtful to someone who may already be in a fragile emotional state. Who is God? - The Definition
Thinking correctly about God is of utmost importance because a false idea about God is idolatry. In Psalm 50:21, God reproves the wicked man with this accusation: “You thought I was altogether like you.” To start with, a good summary definition of God is “the Supreme Being; the Creator and Ruler of all that is; the Self-existent One who is perfect in power, goodness, and wisdom.”

Who is God? - His Nature
We know certain things to be true of God for one reason: in His mercy He has condescended to reveal some of His qualities to us. God is spirit, by nature intangible (John 4:24). God is One, but He exists as three Persons—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17). God is infinite (1 Timothy 1:17), incomparable (2 Samuel 7:22), and unchanging (Malachi 3:6). God exists everywhere (Psalm 139:7-12), knows everything (Psalm 147:5; Isaiah 40:28), and has all power and authority (Ephesians 1; Revelation 19:6).

Who is God? - His Character
Here are some of God’s characteristics as revealed in the Bible: God is just (Acts 17:31), loving (Ephesians 2:4-5), truthful (John 14:6), and holy (1 John 1:5). God shows compassion (2 Corinthians 1:3), mercy (Romans 9:15), and grace (Romans 5:17). God judges sin (Psalm 5:5) but also offers forgiveness (Psalm 130:4).

Who is God? - His Work
We cannot understand God apart from His works, because what God does flows from who He is. Here is an abbreviated list of God’s works, past, present, and future: God created the world (Genesis 1:1; Isaiah 42:5); He actively sustains the world (Colossians 1:17); He is executing His eternal plan (Ephesians 1:11) which involves the redemption of man from the curse of sin and death (Galatians 3:13-14); He draws people to Christ (John 6:44); He disciplines His children (Hebrews 12:6); and He will judge the world (Revelation 20:11-15).

Who is God? - A Relationship with Him
In the Person of the Son, God became incarnate (John 1:14). The Son of God became the Son of Man and is therefore the “bridge” between God and man (John 14:6; 1 Timothy 2:5). It is only through the Son that we can have forgiveness of sins (Ephesians 1:7), reconciliation with God (John 15:15; Romans 5:10), and eternal salvation (2 Timothy 2:10). In Jesus Christ “all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form” (Colossians 2:9). So, to really know who God is, all we have to do is look at Jesus.

Strange story a LIB reader sent to me. Apparently a guy
drove Hummer 2 SUV into Harmony Estate, Ifako, Gbagada,Lagos this morning to steal brain box, window controls of
cars. Story below..
From the estate security, for the past 2 years,
residents who park their cars...usually Toyotas
come back from work to discover their brain
boxes, power window controls, sometimes head
lights, gone. Though not often, maybe once in

The security guys said they notice that

So this morning around 7, you know workers in

jeep came in and the security guys started
tailing just to know where this guy normally
visits. Obviously when they saw where he
parked, they were OK only for them to see him
on another street later The guy parked on the
last street in the estate then trekked back to the
upper streets to rob. After getting a little beating,
the police was called. Our police are still
barbaric. Used gun butt on the guys head,
chained his hands tightly to the back with chain
and padlock and gave him additional beating
before driving his hummer away

A report on Daily Independent suggests that President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari will not appoint a minister to head Nigeria’s sports ministry.Sources close to the Daura-born retired general said the new government is not keen on appointing anyone to oversee the affairs of the ministry, preferring instead to allow the Director General of National Sports Commission (NSC) to relate directly with the presidency.
One of the technocrats who spoke on the condition of anonymity said experience of the last decade was not what they would want to sustain, noting that the appointment of a minister for the ministry have not added value to sports development in the country.
The source said: “When you appoint somebody who knows next to nothing, what you get is a the kind of crisis playing out now. Their interest has nothing to do with developing the sector”.
“Now we don’t know if the National Sports Festival will hold at all. We competed at the Commonwealth Games without official kits. It was that bad,” said the source.
He added that they have advised the incoming government to let the NSC be as doing so would help the Commission focus strictly on sports development instead of using limited funds to cater for needs of ministers.
Just last week, the presidency sacked Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, the director general of the NSC. Dr Tammy Danagogo, the sports minister, appointed Alhassan Yakmut, a director in the NSC, as the acting director general to replace Elegbeleye.
