CrimeNigerian Army Ranked Fifth In Africa by Dannyandre(op): 7:11pm On Jun 10, 2015
Located at the shores of West Africa is the country that is home to a staggering 170 million people. With the available manpower of over 72 million people, there are more than 40 million people who are fit for service with 3.5 million people reaching the military service year every year. Nigeria has 363 tanks, 680 towed-artillery and more than 1,400 armoured fighting vehicles. Nigeria has 96 total air crafts and 36 helicopters, 51 coastal defence crafts and 2 mine warfare. The large population is kept safe with a yearly budget of over $2.3 bn.

More African countries with the highest military strength and fire power continues on the next page with more tanks, armoured fighting vehicles (AFVs), fighters and interceptors just to name a few.

It is not cheap to maintain a standing army, navy and armed forces and it is a general rule that military strength goes along with economic power. This is the reason most countries with the largest economy are also among those with the highest military strength. In Africa, it is not wrong to say that the same principle applies because these top 10 African countries with the best military also happen to be among those with significantly strong economy.

SportsMake This Great Opportunity Count - Ogenyi Onazi Tells Flying Eagles by Dannyandre(op): 6:24pm On Jun 10, 2015
'
Nigeria senior team midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has asked members of the Flying Eagles to make use of the opportunity offered by the tournament in New Zealand to earn a place in the senior national team.

Manu Garba’s team would play a Round of 16 game against Germany on Thursday after finishing second in Group F with victories over Korea DPR and Hungary despite losing their first game against Brazil.

Impressed by their form so far, the Lazio midfielder hopes that a few of the boys would become part of the Super Eagles in the nearest future.

“The Flying Eagles team that is currently playing at the U20 World Cup in New Zealand is a very strong team,” Onazi told media.

“I am a fan of Nigerian football and the national teams because I support them anywhere they go.

“Personally I speak to some of the players of the U20 national team and the ones I know are Taiwo Awoniyi, Dele Alampasu and others.

“I speak to Awoniyi, Alampasu and others just to encourage them. They are a bunch of young talents that the world needs to watch. I am sure the guys will soon come and join us in the Super Eagles. They are a very strong team.”

The 22-year-old, who won silver with the Nigeria U17 side in 2009 had an unprecedented accelerated climb to the senior side despite being dropped from the U20 team that played at the 2011 World Cup in Colombia.

His message to the boys in New Zealand was loud and clear, to make use of the opportunity to impress the world and shine for their country.

“This is a Fifa World Cup and I strongly believe that it is not going to be easy at all. I want to encourage them to put in their very best to make sure that they come out with victory in every game they play,” he said.

“Playing for the Super Eagles is all about being given the opportunity and that is why I want the current Flying Eagles to use this competition to prove a point that they can also play for the [senior] national team.

“It is all about opportunity. I never knew I would be called up to the national team at a very young age and very fast too. But it is because of the determination and zeal that I put into the game that has helped me to this stage.

“When the opportunity came I took it very serious and I never wanted to let it slip,” Onazi concluded.

The Flying Eagles face Germany on Thursday at 8:30am Nigeria time.

SportsHugo Lloris Drops Hints Of Move To Man Utd by Dannyandre(op): 6:16pm On Jun 10, 2015
The Frenchman has reiterated his stance that he wants to play Champions League football to make sure he’s ready for the European Championship

Hugo Lloris has dropped ANOTHER hint that he wants to replace David De Gea at Manchester United.

There were reports in Spain this week that De Gea has already told United he wants to sign for Real Madrid this summer, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Lloris and Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech have been linked with moves to Old Trafford to replace the 24-year-old.

Tottenham keeper Lloris suggested this week he was ‘watching’ developments at United.

He has reiterated his stance that he wants to play Champions League football.

“This is what everyone wants, and not just because it is the season of the European Championships. It is a goal and a personal ambition.

“The Champions League remains an important competition, the highest level in Europe, so obviously I want to participate and rub shoulders with the biggest European teams.

“I work towards that every day.”

SportsI Want To Stop Flying Eagles — Akpoguma, Germany’s Half-nigerian Captain by Dannyandre(op): 4:46pm On Jun 10, 2015
You can tell how happy and fulfilled Kevin Akpoguma has been in New Zealand over the past few days by the sparkle in his eyes.
Germany’s captain is enjoying the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2015 to the full and looking forward to the next challenge as the eagerly awaited knockout stage looms. Of all the teams, Nigeria are the side the Hoffenheim defender and his team-mates have been pitted against in the last 16.
Needless to say, Akpoguma is currently very much in demand in Christchurch. “I’m half-Nigerian as my father is Nigerian, and I’m glad to be able to say that,” the youngster told FIFA.com, a smile playing about his lips. “This match is already a special one for me; my parents are here and Thursday will be even more memorable for my Dad. Although he’ll have both his Germany and Nigeria flags at the ready for when the national anthems are played, in the end he’ll just be happy if his son gets to the next round.”
Memories and gratitude

Akpoguma
The 20-year-old model athlete is an engaging interviewee, a trait befitting a player who refuses to shy away from any situation on or off the pitch. Although Akpoguma has been soaking up the unique atmosphere ahead of his side’s meeting with the Flying Eagles, he seems able to remain consistently down-to-earth and realistic.
Even when he was a very small child, his father took him to the football pitch every day and helped him learn to have fun with a ball at his feet. “I’m very grateful to him,” he said, “but I also know that I’ll go into this match like I do every other. I was born and grew up in Germany so I consider myself to be German.”
Nevertheless, this powerful defender – capable of playing both as a centre-back and on the right side of a four-man defence – remains well-placed to identify with his team’s upcoming opponents. He has visited Nigeria twice and his grandparents live in Benin City, where Akpoguma fondly remembers everyone going to church on Sundays and then playing football together – something he was understandably pleased to be part of.
It is clear that the Hoffenheim youngster is proud of these experiences and has been shaped by them. “As a person I always want to get on well with everyone,” he said. “I can’t hate or envy anyone. I enjoy meeting everybody and I think that kind of mentality is typical for Nigeria.
“I always have fun and enjoy what I’m doing and the way I feel,” Akpoguma went on, pausing for a moment before grinning and adding: “As a footballer I also would say that I have my African roots to thank for my athleticism because I’m still fast despite being tall.”
The moment of truth
As Frank Wormuth’s team swept through the group stages with supreme confidence and a perfect record, Akpoguma was deployed as an attacking right-back, a role that will be key in Germany’s encounter with the technically adept yet hard-tackling Nigerians. “They rely on their attacking play and their one-on-one skills,” the 20-year-old explained. “They’re quick and have a insatiable urge to press forward. We’ve really got to watch our step as they’ve already shown that they score by putting two goals past Brazil.”
Nevertheless, Germany’s promising young defender – who counts the Flying Eagles alongside Brazil, Portugal, Serbia and his own team as title contenders – believes there is every reason to remain optimistic. “We don’t have to change much,” he told FIFA.com.
“If we can consistently remember our lines and stick to our plan, we’ll get good results. We’re getting into the business end of the tournament and we’re extremely fired up about what’s ahead. Nigeria are a great side, so now we can show what we’re really made of. We want to be in the last four and go all the way to Auckland. Having come here as European champions, that’s got to be our target.”
This ambition reveals the other side of the Germany skipper’s character – a fascinating blend of a formidable winning mentality, undoubted self-confidence and sheer willpower to leave the pitch victo

SportsMessi, The €280 Million Man by Dannyandre(op): 1:52pm On Jun 10, 2015
With the opening of a new transfer window, the Football Observatory of the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) has disclosed its exclusive top-100 ranking of the highest transfer values for big-5 league footballers.

At the head of the table is Lionel Messi with an estimated value between €255 and €281 million. For the first time, Eden Hazard ranks second. The Belgian is ahead of Christian Ronaldo. At club level, Champions League winner Barcelona outranks Chelsea and Real Madrid.

The CIES Football Observatory also presented for the first time the probabilities of fee paying transfers for big-5 league players. This was a major achievement of the research work carried out by the CIES academic team last year. Many expensive footballers are to be found in the top-100 of this ranking, such as Raheem Sterling, Alexis Sánchez, Antoine Griezmann, Harry Kane and Philippe Coutinho.

More information is available in issue number 115 of the Big-5 Weekly Post (the last before the summer break). The full data is presented in the sixth edition of the CIES Football Observatory Monthly Report. This publication also explains the unique methodology developed by our research team to estimate both transfer values and transfer probabilities of football players.

A Guy was called for an interview by Chevron based on his performance while working for Shell.
The Interviewer
Akpos asked; What is your current pay at Shell and what are you looking at with Chevron?

The Guy said; 9 Million Naira per annum plus medical and other benefits. Considering the position here in Chevron, I'd be looking at 20-22 Million Naira per annum, a status car, overseas vacation and medicals.

Akpos said; Today is your lucky day! The position comes with 35 Million Naira per annum salary, 2014 Range Rover Sport as official car, Mercedes Benz S65 AMG as status car, overseas medical treatment. A fully furnished house in Lekki, health insurance for your wife and children, 2 houses to be built for you in any town of your choice and in your village, annual overseas vacation for you and your family fully-paid first class, 2 Million Naira wardrobe allowance per annum, cook, steward and 2 drivers, country club membership, and you are entitled to keep all that the company gives you if you put in just 3 years of service. The Guy in bewildered excitement exclaimed; Haaaa! Sir, you must be joking.

CelebritiesHappy Birthday Late Joan Rivers by Dannyandre(op): 1:03pm On Jun 09, 2015
Happy Birthday, Joan Rivers.

The world continues to mourn the loss of such an iconic woman in Hollywood, but we're especially reminded of Rivers today, because it would have been the late comedienne's 82nd birthday.

Friends like Larry King and even venues like The Laugh Factory took to Twitter to remember Joan on her special day, while daughter Melissa Rivers decided to give us a gift, instead.

Melissa posted a photo on her WhoSay page of her mother's Grammy award for Best Spoken Album in 2014 as a glimpse into her exhibit Can We Talk? at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, which kicks off today and runs until September.

"Hey everyone - here's a little 'sneak peek' of @TheGRAMMYmuseum exhibit opening today. @Joan_Rivers Can We Talk? @TheGRAMMYs @EnterMissThang @LALive #TeamRivers," she wrote.

Joan Rivers passed away in September at 81.

Melissa released the following statement at the time: "It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother. She passed peacefully at 1:17 p.m. surrounded by family and close friends. My son and I would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Mount Sinai Hospital for the amazing care they provided for my mother."

It continued: "Cooper and I have found ourselves humbled by the outpouring of love, support, and prayers we have received from around the world. They have been heard and appreciated. My mother's greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon."

The tragic news came days after the Fashion Police host suffered from complications while undergoing a recent throat operation in New York City on Aug. 28.

SportsRonaldo Former Girlfriend Irina Shayk Denies Havieng Affair With Blatter by Dannyandre(op): 12:55pm On Jun 09, 2015
Irina Shayk is setting the record straight on one rumored relationship.

Just last week, fans were surprised to read in El Mundo that the supermodel "had a relationship" with disgraced FIFA President Sepp Blatter.

In fact, the publication assured readers that Shayk was one of "many lovers" the 79-year-old experienced in his life. But if you ask the supermodel's team about this supposed romance, they say the report is completely false.

"The rumors regarding an alleged romantic and or personal affair with Sepp Blatter by El Mundo newspaper in Spain is a pathetic attempt at defaming Ms. Shayk and are absolutely not true," her rep said in a statement to E! News. "We have no intentions of further acknowledging these allegations as they are wholly unfounded."

What is true is the fact that Shayk appears to be getting closer to Bradley Cooper each and every week.

In fact, a source revealed to E! News exclusively that the pair is "exclusive" and "a couple" at this point.

"They have been spending as much time as they can together and getting very close," the insider dished. "All their friends think this is a perfect match!"

As for Blatter, he recently resigned from his position as FIFA president following a corruption scandal that led to seven top officials being arrested in Switzerland. It's safe to say Blatter hasn't been on his A-game.

SportsKeshi: Kaduna Weather, pitch Good For Super Eagles by Dannyandre(op): 11:59am On Jun 09, 2015
Super Eagles gaffer Stephen Okechukwu Keshi says he is not losing sleep over Kaduna weather as Nigeria begins qualification for Gabon 2017 AFCON against Chad at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Saturday.

In an exclusive chat with CS on Monday, the former Hawks of Togo manager expressed his relief and delights with the clement weather in Kaduna, stressing that weather condition won’t be a barrier when his players go out for the kill in Saturday’s game.

Kaduna weather forecast is expected to rise to 32 degree on Saturday with 20% precipitation and 63 % humid raising fears over Super Eagles readiness to play under the heat. But Keshi has calmed frayed nerves and assure Nigerians that his players will defy every odd to beat Chad.

“Everything is going on fine here; our training has been fantastic and the players are responding well. As for the weather, here is clement, we need not worry over the weather around us because my players are looking forward to do Nigeria proud. The environment here is good and pitch is okay too, “he said.

match will be the first match by the Super Eagles on the natural turf of Ahmadu Bello Stadium since a 4-0 international friendly victory over the Stallions of Burkina Faso on September 10, 2013.

The former Les Eagles of Mali manager insists that he has since put the disappointment of missing out of 2015 AFCON but maintained that he does not want to give up his dreams of winning the AFCOn for the second time as a coach.

While admitting that much is not known of the Chadians, the Big Boss said he is working round the clock to raise a formidable team Nigeria can be proud of, adding that he will dig deeply into his technical books of tricks and come up with a tactics that will neutralize his opponent on Saturday.

“We will keep working hard to qualify for AFCON 2017. We don’t really know much about the Chadians but we are preparing hard to get the three points. Let’s Nigerians rally behind the team and we shall all celebrate after the match.
