An ex-Commissioner for Women Affairs is among over 12,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP who dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna state on Sunday.

The decampees were received at a rally in Giwa town by the Kaduna APC gubernatorial candidate for 2023 election, Sen. Uba Sani.
Addressing the decampees, Sani noted that APC is growing stronger and had the edge over opposition parties in the state ahead of the 2023 election.

Sani, assured them of equal status and rights like every other member of the party.

“In APC, there is no discrimination; those who joined today are of the same status as those who joined when the party was formed.”

“We are one and a united family,” he said, and he advised the electorate to vote for all the APC candidates in the 2023 elections.

Tinubu in the presidential election, vote for Muhammad Sani Abdullahi as senator representing Kaduna Central, and vote for Jibrin Zubairu as member representing Giwa/Birnin Gwari Federal Constituency.”

“Vote for me during the governorship election; elect Umar Auwal Bijimi and Adamu Mohammed Shika to represent Birnin Gwari West and East at the state House of Assembly, respectively,” he said.

Meanwhile, the governorship candidate promised to be fair to all, develop all parts of Kaduna State, and consolidate the achievements of Gov. Nasir El-Rufai’s administration.

At least 41, 670 members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kaduna state have defected to the ruling All progressive Congress.

They were on Tuesday received by the Chairman of the 19 northern states Speakers and Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Yusuf Zailani.

Among the defectors s are senior PDP stalwarts such as councilors and the former chairman and secretary of Igabi local government area, Jafaru murtala.

The defectors have promised to work to the ensure the victory of the APC presidential Candidates and all other APC contestants in the state and region.

The defectors were largely made of youths and women and were received at the International Trade Fair Complex located along Kaduna-Zaria Road, government area, Jafaru Murtala.

They promised to henceforth work together with the APC to the ensure the victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim shetima together with all other APC contestants in the state and region.

The Defection of the PDP supporters will be a major boost to the chances of the All Progressives Congress in retaining Kaduna State following years of Internal rift between the State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, and some Other Stakeholders.

The alternative which was the Abuja-Kaduna Passenger Train service has also been on suspension for a few months now and is scheduled to resume operations by the end of the month.

•Ayu shuns campaign flag-off in Benue

Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State has reportedly threatened to resign as chairman of the Atiku Abubakar’s Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) if campaign funds were not released.

But the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ini Ememobong, said he was not aware of any such threat.

“The Governor is a gentleman and doesn’t issue threats, he discusses. He is a natural peace builder wherever he finds himself, so we know he is pursuing peace and reconciliation to help the party win’, he said.

In spite of the rebuttal, an impeccable state government house source revealed exclusively to Daily Sun that Udom confided in some aides in his inner circle that he was exasperated with the inability of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to release funds for campaign in the state.

The source said despite the fact that the PDP is the ruling party in the state, the presidential candidate is not a favourite among residents, hence, the need for his campaign to commence in earnest.

"At the moment, our governor has said he would not be spending a dime of the state’s funds on the presidential campaign because we don’t even have more than enough resources for our national and state Assemblies campaigns. He has even said he would rather resign than appear incompetent. He wants to campaign for Atiku but his hands are tied because of lack of funds.

“At the moment, we are waiting for the candidate to release funds so that the party can start campaigning for him here but if he doesn’t do so, then we would just focus on our National Assembly and state candidates. It is not that the governor does not support him but the fact remains that we are our governorship campaign is our priority at the moment.

“If you go to the streets of Akwa Ibom and talk to people, you would see that Atiku is not popular among the top presidential contenders. Also, the fact that most of the billboards you see in Uyo are either for our national assembly and state candidates and the presidential candidates of other parties gives you an understanding of what is at stake.

“For instance, the supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party have sponsoring billboards and pasting posters of him all over the city but that of Atiku are few because funds haven’t been released,” the source said.

Meanwhile, National Chairman of the party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, was absent as the Benue State chapter flagged off its 2023 campaigns in at the Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida square, Makurdi, yesterday.

The event witnessed by a mammoth crowd from the 23 local government areas of the state was attended by Governor Samuel Ortom, who was supported by the G-5 Governors, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Okezie Ikeazu of Abia state, Ifeanyi Ugwuany of Enugu and Seyi Makinde of Oyo state.

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State acknowledged as worthy sacrifice made by the Integrity five governors who had spent two days in Makurdi to show solidarity and make sure that PDP win all elections in the State.

Governor Ortom said PDP looks good in the state because it has been winning its election and shall win again.

He thanked Wike, especially for donating part of his campaign vehicles to support the campaigns in Benue and prayed God to bless them for their solidarity said PDP in Benue state have no problems.

In his remark, Governor Wike denied there was any subsisting problem in the party.

He maintained that if there was any problem in the PDP, he and his counterparts, now christened the ‘Integrity governors’, would not have been in Benue to participate in the PDP campaign flag-off.

Governor Wike described his Benue State counterpart as a gift to his people and encouraged them to continue to believe in him.

“We came here to support a man whom you can go to sleep comfortable with your two eyes closed. Your governor is a man who believes in his people. Your governor is a man who can die for his people. Your governor is a man who will never change for whatever it takes because he believes first that Benue must survive.”

Governor Wike stated that they know Governor Ortom to be such a reliable person hence they left the comfort of their states to show him solidarity.

“We went to commission five projects today. Look, this man (Ortom) is a gift to the people of Benue State. So, I don’t know of any problem, if there was problem, we wouldn’t have come here.”

Also speaking, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, who expressed deep worry over the continuous killing of Benue people by herdsmen militia said “the issue at stake today is about us in Benue choosing life over death and we have seen the efforts that Governor Ortom has made to cry about our plight here in Benue state. Anybody who takes us away from our farms wants to take our lives away. Therefore, I will ask and urge the people of Benue state to follow Ortom. Follow him wey know road. Don’t follow somebody wey no know road.

“I believe that Ortom is the Moses that will take Benue to the promise land. The candidates of the PDP will lead the way to take Benue out of Egypt. My prayer is that Benue people will be wise and follow Uba, all our National Assembly candidates and all others in PDP. Vote PDP all the way,” Okezie said.

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and Seyi Makinde said they were in the state to lend their support to the state’s campaign flag off adding that they were excited at the testimonies that Benue is PDP.

“My only message to you is don’t be complacent, I beg you in the name of God. Go out there, put in the hard work and deliver Benue to PDP. You have done it before and you will do it again. I wish you a successful campaign and pray that by February/March 2023, you would have delivered all your candidates to PDP,” Makinde said.

There seems to have no end in sight as the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), continues to rage.

PlatonumPost Exclusive gathered that the crisis took a new dimension as the Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed accused the Presidential Candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar is spearheading a campaign of ‘Bala Must Go’ with the aim of truncating his re-election bid in 2023.

In a letter of protest personally signed by Mr Mohammed to the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, dated 3rd November 2022 obtained by PlatinumPost from a top echelon of the party, the Governor threatened to resign as the North-East Vice Chairman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).

Mr Mohammed further stated in the letter that since he contested for the coveted seat of the President against Mr Abubakar the party Presidential candidate has been working surreptitiously in cohort with some party bigwigs in the state to ‘teach him a lesson’.

PlatinumPost had reported that some chieftains of the party led by its embattled National Chairman, Ayu on Saturday converged in Bauchi for a meeting to pacify the Governor.

The meeting was held behind closed-door at the Ramat House of the Bauchi Government House and was attended by the Director General of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
Also in attendance is former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido as well as the host, Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir and his Deputy, Senator Baba Tela.

The protest letter reads in part:” Your Excellency, this protest letter has been necessitated by the treachery targeted at my person and office, undoubtedly endorsed, directly or indirectly by the Presidential candidate of our party, His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON, Wazirin Adamawa. In this game of political mischief, he is in league with some political stakeholders from Bauchi state, who have constituted themselves into a “Bala Must Go” conspiracy.
“The arrowheads of the treacherous scheme against me include former Governors, some political elders, and other foot soldiers. Unfortunately for them, because of the goodwill, I have with the people, most of their mischievous plans get to revealed to me before they start implementing.”

Mr Mohammed listed among his grouse post-nomination snub by the candidate of the party when he visited all the aspirants that contested against him and refused to pay him a similar visit.

“Mr Chairman, it will interest you to know that faced with these adversarial conditions, I complained to both the presidential candidate and the vice presidential candidate Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state, as well as some party elders whose names I do not want to mention here. Sadly, rather than abate, the mischief and treachery have escalated, under the watchful eyes and knowledge of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who, to all intents and purposes, is the leader of the groups. The footprint of this undeserved hostility, bordering on anti-party activities, litter the political terrain, but I will mention just a few here:

"My post-nomination snub by the presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Notwithstanding that I promptly conceded defeat and congratulated him upon his nomination., he excluded me while visiting other aspirants who ran against him.
“Mr chairman short of a complete public repudiation of these incongruities within a reasonable time frame, coupled with explicit guarantees of the sincerity of purpose and public support for my re-election by the presidential candidate, I may withdraw from the PCC and feel free to create new measures and strategies that will guarantee the election or re-election of all PDP candidates in Bauchi state and myself.”

The crisis rocking the Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is far from over as a National Leader of the party, Chief James Ibori, the immediate past governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, the Senator representing Delta South, Senator James Manager and other party’s bigwigs today shunned the inauguration of Delta State PDP Campaign Management Committee.

Other notable party chieftains that snubbed the inauguration of the campaign council that held in Asaba to support the governorship aspiration of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori were the lawmaker representing Delta South Senatorial District and the only PDP senator in the upper legislative chamber, Sen. James Manager; the party’s governorship aspirant, Chief David Edevbie.

Other absentee political bigwigs include a former Secretary to the Delta State Government, SSG, Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, the party’s candidate for Delta North Senatorial District, Prince Ned Nwoko, members of the House of Representatives, commissioners, special advisers among others.

Addressing party faithfuls, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa urged aggrieved members of the party to embrace peace and support the party candidate for the sake of posterity.

“Yes, there are issues in PDP Delta state and we will settle it and PDP will come out stronger and united.

“I want to appeal to the aspirants to embrace all and do the one you can to support your brother because there is always a tomorrow. In 2006, I ran for governor but didn’t get it but I supported the person and today I’m a governor.

“Our campaign will go through 270 wards that’s where our votes will come from. My politics is based on issue and I don’t insult people in the course of my politicking.

“Those that said I have not done anything in Delta state are locked up in Abuja, he maybe from Delta but locked up himself in Abuja.” He said.

The party’s gubernatorial flag bearer, Sheriff Oborevwori, thanked Okowa for standing and believing in him. He further promised to uphold the legacy of Okowa.
