Fresh crisis hits PDP as Bauchi Gov accuse Atiku of treachery, threatens to resign from PCC.

There seems to have no end in sight as the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), continues to rage.

PlatonumPost Exclusive gathered that the crisis took a new dimension as the Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed accused the Presidential Candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar is spearheading a campaign of ‘Bala Must Go’ with the aim of truncating his re-election bid in 2023.

In a letter of protest personally signed by Mr Mohammed to the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, dated 3rd November 2022 obtained by PlatinumPost from a top echelon of the party, the Governor threatened to resign as the North-East Vice Chairman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).

Mr Mohammed further stated in the letter that since he contested for the coveted seat of the President against Mr Abubakar the party Presidential candidate has been working surreptitiously in cohort with some party bigwigs in the state to ‘teach him a lesson’.

PlatinumPost had reported that some chieftains of the party led by its embattled National Chairman, Ayu on Saturday converged in Bauchi for a meeting to pacify the Governor.

The meeting was held behind closed-door at the Ramat House of the Bauchi Government House and was attended by the Director General of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
Also in attendance is former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido as well as the host, Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir and his Deputy, Senator Baba Tela.

The protest letter reads in part:” Your Excellency, this protest letter has been necessitated by the treachery targeted at my person and office, undoubtedly endorsed, directly or indirectly by the Presidential candidate of our party, His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON, Wazirin Adamawa. In this game of political mischief, he is in league with some political stakeholders from Bauchi state, who have constituted themselves into a “Bala Must Go” conspiracy.
“The arrowheads of the treacherous scheme against me include former Governors, some political elders, and other foot soldiers. Unfortunately for them, because of the goodwill, I have with the people, most of their mischievous plans get to revealed to me before they start implementing.”

Mr Mohammed listed among his grouse post-nomination snub by the candidate of the party when he visited all the aspirants that contested against him and refused to pay him a similar visit.

“Mr Chairman, it will interest you to know that faced with these adversarial conditions, I complained to both the presidential candidate and the vice presidential candidate Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state, as well as some party elders whose names I do not want to mention here. Sadly, rather than abate, the mischief and treachery have escalated, under the watchful eyes and knowledge of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who, to all intents and purposes, is the leader of the groups. The footprint of this undeserved hostility, bordering on anti-party activities, litter the political terrain, but I will mention just a few here:

"My post-nomination snub by the presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Notwithstanding that I promptly conceded defeat and congratulated him upon his nomination., he excluded me while visiting other aspirants who ran against him.
“Mr chairman short of a complete public repudiation of these incongruities within a reasonable time frame, coupled with explicit guarantees of the sincerity of purpose and public support for my re-election by the presidential candidate, I may withdraw from the PCC and feel free to create new measures and strategies that will guarantee the election or re-election of all PDP candidates in Bauchi state and myself.”

The crisis rocking the Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is far from over as a National Leader of the party, Chief James Ibori, the immediate past governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, the Senator representing Delta South, Senator James Manager and other party’s bigwigs today shunned the inauguration of Delta State PDP Campaign Management Committee.

Other notable party chieftains that snubbed the inauguration of the campaign council that held in Asaba to support the governorship aspiration of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori were the lawmaker representing Delta South Senatorial District and the only PDP senator in the upper legislative chamber, Sen. James Manager; the party’s governorship aspirant, Chief David Edevbie.

Other absentee political bigwigs include a former Secretary to the Delta State Government, SSG, Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, the party’s candidate for Delta North Senatorial District, Prince Ned Nwoko, members of the House of Representatives, commissioners, special advisers among others.

Addressing party faithfuls, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa urged aggrieved members of the party to embrace peace and support the party candidate for the sake of posterity.

“Yes, there are issues in PDP Delta state and we will settle it and PDP will come out stronger and united.

“I want to appeal to the aspirants to embrace all and do the one you can to support your brother because there is always a tomorrow. In 2006, I ran for governor but didn’t get it but I supported the person and today I’m a governor.

“Our campaign will go through 270 wards that’s where our votes will come from. My politics is based on issue and I don’t insult people in the course of my politicking.

“Those that said I have not done anything in Delta state are locked up in Abuja, he maybe from Delta but locked up himself in Abuja.” He said.

The party’s gubernatorial flag bearer, Sheriff Oborevwori, thanked Okowa for standing and believing in him. He further promised to uphold the legacy of Okowa.

State Governors of Rivers, Imo, Edo, Anambra, Ondo, Kastina, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kebbi, Bauchi, Gombe, Benue, Nasarawa, Niger and Plateau states couldn't deliver their state to their party presidential candidate..

The only thing that can change the voting pattern of the state is if the Governor ordered the PDP structure in the state to vote for LP. The people alone won't stick out their necks for it. That can only happen the SE for now.

From my permutations Tinibu will just win the NC slightly above Peter Obi..
He has Kogi, Kwara for sure. Significant votes in the remaining 4 states +FCT might give him an edge.
Obi on the other Hand is sure winning Benue and FCT, plus significant votes in 4 other states minus Niger state.
Atiku has the chance of winning only Niger state.

A total of 29 support groups in Plateau State on Thursday vowed to deliver the state to the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu and the governorship candidate of the APC in the state, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda.

The coordinator of the groups, Dr. Muhammed Dahiru, said these in Jos on Thursday at a public function where the candidates were endorsed.

“We in the APC have the best candidates and marketing them would not be difficult. Our presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has a track record of success as well as our governorship candidate Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda. We would go to the nooks and crannies of the state to campaign and ensure victory for them as well as other candidates contesting under our platform.

“All our votes would be delivered to our candidates who have been tested and trusted, the present governor, Simon Lalong has done well in bringing peace to Plateau and Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda would bring massive development to the state if elected, we have confidence that Dr Nentawe would deliver dividends of democracy to the people of Plateau as governor come 2023

The running mate to the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Plateau Hon. Pam Botmang, described Dadin Kowa community where the event held as his home.

Botmang added that he has confidence that the community would vote massively for the party in the forthcoming general elections.

Yilwatda, in his goodwill message, thanked the people of the community for their support stressing that he would revamp the state if elected governor come 2023.

He pledged to run a quality and people focused government when elected, adding that 10% of the state’s internally generated revenue would be deployed to empower youths, women, and people living with disabilities.

As part of his objectives in achieving peace and security as well as inclusive economic development, Yilwatda further promised to accelerate youth employment, introduce integrated rural development programmes as well as community policing and inclusion of all citizens in the governance of the state .

He said, “We must empower the youths, tackle poverty and carry them along in governance. My mission is to make Plateau the preferred destination for investments, businesses, tourism and habitation.”

“Plateau youths are very creative and there is the need to empower them.”

He further stressed that his policy thrust, tagged “ACCESS” is a principle that will govern Plateau without any sentiments towards tribe or religion.

“I shall consider security as a cardinal point, security is fundamental

“A vote for me is a vote for peace, a vote for prosperity, a better Plateau. A vote for me is a vote for development, I will be a governor for all,” he added.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, appears to be in a quandary over whether or not to wield the big stick against Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, his four other colleagues and other party leaders/members for alleged anti-party activities.

Vanguard gathered in Abuja yesterday that opinion is divided among party leaders as to how best to deal with the issue because those involved include highly placed party leaders.

While some argue that Wike and co should be ignored and treated as a distraction, others are of the opinion that it is hightime the party leadership wielded the big stick.

“In the most brazen of acts after a barrage of verbal attacks on Ayu, whom he accused of corruption, Wike openly endorsed the second term bid of Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwu-Olu, the 2023 candidate of the 2023 governorship elections.

“This was at a time the PDP candidate for the same election, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (JANDOR), is seeking the mandate of the people of Lagos State.

Wike and four of his aggrieved colleagues have made good their threat of staying away from the party’s presidential campaigns until the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, resigns.

The Rivers State governor, and his counterparts, Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), have stuck to their guns in insisting that a southerner replaced Ayu since the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, the Director General of his campaign, Aminu Tambuwual, are northerners.

A member of the party’s National Executive Committee who pleaded anonymity because the matter is yet to be brought before NEC, said: “This issue is as complex as it is simple. How do you go about sanctioning a sitting governor, let alone five in the middle of a campaign?

“There is no doubt that Wike and even one of our party leaders, a former governor of Enugu State, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, have gone as far as endorsing our rival candidates for the governorship and the presidency; these are clearly anti-party activities.

Why do I say so? Section 58 (1) of our party’s Constitution provides that “Subject to the provisions of this Constitution, the party shall have power to disciple any member who says or does anything likely to bring the party into disrepute, hatred or contempt, (f) engages in anti-party activities.

“With what these two and others have done and are doing, is there any other proof one needs to call for sanctions? Actions should have consequences.

Countering, another party leader said: “Politics and political party management is more complex than just sticking to the rule book. You are dealing with human beings who have rights and freedoms which should be protected. Moral suasion is the key to resolving this matter.

“Agreeing but not conceding that Wike overstepped his bounds of decency and commitment to the party , however, how do you explain our party’s decision to set aside its time tested zoning arrangement with regards to the presidential ticket?

“We must also learn from history, we know what happened when four or five governors left us in 2013/2014.”

Earlier in an interactive session with newsmen in Abuja, National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, while responding to a question on Wike’s actions, said: “The PDP has processes and procedures.

”We deal with issues in line with our laid down procedures. One thing is certain, we are all united in the desire to rescue Nigeria from this rudderless APC administration come 2023.”
