Politics2023: North Will Pay You Back – Governor Badaru Tells Tinubu by Dannyset(op): 7:45pm On Oct 23, 2022
Jigawa State Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar said the Northern part of the country will pay back the presidential candidate of the All Progressive congress APC Bola Ahmad Tinubu in the coming 2023 general election.

Governor Badaru stated this when he received Tinubu in Kano on Sunday.

DAILY POST reported that The All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, visited Kano State to open his campaign offices.

Tinubu was welcomed on Saturday by the Governors of Kano, Jigawa and Zamfara States at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport alongside thousands of supporters.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, Governor Muhammad Badaru said Tinibu is the only person who supported five Northern presidential candidates.

” Tinubu is the only friend to the north, he supported five different northern presidential candidates including Shehu Shagari, Umar Musa Yar’adua, Atiku Abubakar, Nuhu Ribado and President Muhammadu Buhari”

“So it is payback time and we are ready, we are honest people, we respect keeping to our promise and we are ready to compensate you for what you have done for the North”

Governor Badaru, however, urged Northerners to come out and massively vote for the All Progressives Congress APC presidential candidate in the 2023 General elections.

PoliticsDeleting Of Deborah Samuel Tweet: Express Your Anger At The Polls - Daniel Bwala by Dannyset(op): 12:31pm On Oct 18, 2022
Daniel Bwala, the spokesman of Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign has told Nigerians to express their feelings over the former Vice president’s deleting of the tweet he posted to condemn the cruel murder of a Christian girl, Deborah Samuel.

Bwala, a Special Adviser to the Deputy Senate President on Legal and Constitutional Matters at the National Assembly of Nigeria, said this when he appeared on Arise Television’s The Morning Show.

Atiku had posted a tweet hours after Deborah Samuel was killed for alleged blasphemy in her school. But he later deleted the tweet.

Atiku has started his campaigns and Nigerians are wondering what will become of Nigeria if he becomes the next President of the country.

To add to the controversy, DAILY POST reports that Atiku on Saturday, during an interactive session with the Arewa Joint Committee held in Kaduna State, claimed that Northerners do not need Igbo or Yoruba candidates in the forthcoming election.

Asked why the former Vice president deleted his tweet, Bwala said, “If Nigerians are not satisfied [with Atiku’s explanations on why he deleted his tweet on the killing of Deborah Samuel] they will express that at the polls.”

PoliticsBMO To Atiku: Mambilla Is PDP’s Mess Buhari Is Cleaning Up by Dannyset(op): 3:51pm On Oct 09, 2022
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar cannot absolve himself and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of the blame for the problem besetting the Mambila hydro-electric power project, contrary to the impression he recently created on the campaign trail.

According to the Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) in a statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Madueke, as former Vice President in 2003, Atiku was central to legal issues over the project that the Buhari administration has been battling to resolve.

“After a previous misstep of pledging to implement what President Muhammadu Buhari is already doing with the private sector, we were surprised to hear the PDP Presidential candidate making another monumental gaffe.

“This time, he claimed at a rally in Bauchi that no government has summoned the needed courage to execute the Mambila Power Project in the last 50 years, in a manner that we consider an insult to the sensibilities of the average Nigerian.

“And like many people have pointed out,
Atiku’s claim is yet another proof that he is cut off from reality as a result of his intermittent sojourn in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), so he does not have a clue about what the Buhari administration had been doing to extricate the country from the various legal disputes the PDP plunged her into with its poor handling of the project almost 20 years ago.

[b]“For the avoidance of doubt, the former Vice President was part of the administration that, in 2003, awarded a 6billion dollars to build, operate and transfer (BOT) contract for a 3050mw plant to Sunrise Power and Transmission Company Limited (SPTCL), a local content partner with no requisite background, which later sought an arbitration award of 2.3billion dollars after the deal was called off, ” the group said.

BMO added that the Buhari administration had since 2017 been engaged in a two-prong approach to get the Mambila plant off the ground.

“It is on record that soon after assuming office, President Buhari entered into a government-to-government arrangement with China to finance the project after signing a 5.8billion dollars engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with a consortium of three Chinese firms.

“At the same time, the administration was pushing to extricate Nigeria from a legal wrangle with Sunrise which caused the China Export-Import (EXIM) Bank to put on hold the 85 per cent funding it was to commit to the Mambila plant until the dispute was resolved.

“Now the government is on the verge of making a pay off to the firm for the termination of the earlier contract to build the plant to finally get the project going.

“So it is uncharitable for the former Vice-President to in one breath, claim that the project had been on the drawing board for over 50 years, and in another breath say no government had summoned the courage to execute it. This, against the backdrop of the hole his administration dug Nigeria into with its shoddy handling of what could have been a straight-forward deal without a middle man,” it said.

The group urged Nigerians to be “wary of more of such political antics from politicians out to pull the wool over their eyes as the 2023 Presidential election inches closer”.

PoliticsOrtom: PDP Leadership Has Failed, National Chairman, Ayu Should Resign by Dannyset(op): 10:02am On Oct 09, 2022
PDP Crisis Lingers As Governor Ortom Says Party Leadership Has Failed, National Chairman, Ayu Should Resign.

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has explained that the insistence on the resignation of the embattled national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, by the governors was based on the commitment the chairman made to the party and Nigerians earlier.

Recall that the five PDP governors including Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state and some other members of the party, especially from the Southern Nigeria had insisted that Ayu must resign.

The crisis which started after the emergence of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in May has lingered as Ayu refused to resign.

Insisting that Ayu must resign on the basis of the principle of zoning, Governor Ortom who spoke in Makurdi during the weekend explained that the National Chairman had given his words to the party and Nigerians in general that he would step aside if a presidential candidate of northern extraction emerged from the national convention of the party.

According to a Vanguard report, Ortom said it was necessary for the National Chairman to keep his word and by so doing maintain his integrity and by extension respect the zoning arrangement of the party.

Speaking further Ortom advised that in the alternative, Ayu should appeal to members to allow him carry on rather than sounding adamant over the matter.

Ortom said, “When a child defecates on your lap, you do not cut off the leg, you clean it up or wash it off and move on. The issue is that the PDP leadership has failed. But for me, I have not called for the removal of the National Chairman because he comes from where I come from. But I have said that the leadership including the National Chairman had failed in solving the problem and I have advised them adequately.

“When members of the Board of Trustees came to me, I told them what they needed to do and I also told the National Chairman what he needed to do. I cannot go to the extreme level of calling for his removal but I call on him to do the right thing, to do the needful which has not been done, which is wrong.

“That is why I keep saying that the party has not been able to deploy its internal conflict resolution mechanism to solve this problem. If they do it we can all flow and work together, but sidelining people and thinking that you are there and nothing can stop you, is what is creating problems.

“So for me, there is still time, the party can work it out. I am in the G‐5 but because the Chairman is from my state I decided to keep quiet, I have advised him on what to do. He should be happy that I am in the G-5 which Governor Wike is the leader of. He should be happy that I get information from there and give it to him.

“If he takes my advice fine, but if he doesn’t; that’s fine too; the right thing has to be done to give all comfort because whatever is the demand of Wike today; nobody can blame him. The Chairman himself promised that he would resign if a Northern presidential candidate emerged; has a northern candidate not emerged?

“So why is he not coming out? And I have offered two things, it’s either you resign or plead and beg the people why you should continue as National Chairman because you said it yourself, nobody compelled you.

“The National Chairman told the whole world that he would resign if a northern candidate emerged and today a northern candidate has emerged. So the question I am asking is where is your integrity if you don’t resign?

“But there are many ways of doing it, if you plead, if you beg, if you seek for the understanding of the people to accept you the way you are so that we run towards election it is still okay. But the onus is on you to convince them and not to say that you have a four-year tenure. Who compelled you to say that you will resign if the presidential candidate comes from the north? I chose to keep quiet but that does not mean I am against what my colleagues are saying.”

ganisucks:
You dont understand politics. Let me explain what transpired yesterday. To know Ngige, one only needs to know his track record. Ngige never pitches his rent with losers. In 2014, one week after he found out that APC would become the ruling party he immediately switched camps and dumped the PDP. Now, he has realized that Obi will win, he is slowly withdrawing from APC. Ngige is not like FFK who relishes milking the desperation of losing candidates. If you check FFK's track record you will notice that he always pitches his rent with losing candidates. That is the difference between FFK and Ngige. These are the things people should notice not bicycles or fake rallies.
I am trying to figure how big the tank that would contain you people's tears after that election.

PoliticsAPC To PDP: Rescue Yourself First Before Thinking Of Saving Nigeria by Dannyset(op): 6:09pm On Oct 08, 2022
The All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday lashed out at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for saying the ruling party was not ready to govern Nigeria.

Spokesperson for the PDP presidential campaign management committee, Mr. Dino Melaye, had in a statement said it was “becoming increasingly apparent that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is neither ready for election nor structured to govern, though its members are desperate to retain power. Sadly, the undiscerning is oblivious of the usual media hypnotism that the APC engages to confuse and mesmerise the unwary.”

He added: “I once had a cause to describe the APC as an NGO and not a political party. Even now that it has managed to have a contrivance called Party Executive it remains formless, unstructured, uncoordinated and unorganised.

“It’s not surprising since, as you may recall, the coronation of the Chairman of the party was a mere formalisation of the appointment approved by President Muhammadu Buhari, who is the life wire, navigator and camp commandant of the APC.”

However, the Director of Public Affairs and Chief Spokesperson, Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo (SAN), in a swift reaction, said the opposition party was hallucinating.

Describing the PDP statement as outlandish, Keyamo asked the PDP to first concentrate on rescuing itself from the multitude of crises facing it before thinking of saving Nigeria.

“This most outlandish statement, coming from the PDP at a time it has become the theatre of the most absurd in this country, is most ironic and unfortunate. It reminds us of the Yoruba parable of the audacious thief summoning the effrontery to accuse the farm owner of illegal trespass before the farm owner could raise the alarm,” the APC presidential campaign spokesman said.

Continuing, he said: “In the past few weeks, the PDP has entertained Nigerians with scandalous issues that show the party remains a clear and present danger or threat to Nigeria’s treasury and equity.

“In the last few days, the public space has been inundated with allegations made by no less a person than a prominent governor of the PDP accusing its National Chairman of being patently corrupt and of collecting a bribe of N1 billion from one of its candidates.

“The Governor even threatened to reveal if there was a denial. The Party Chairman, Ayu, is yet to deny or debunk this allegation for fear of being stripped bare in public. Is this the party that claims it is ready for governance and that Nigerians can trust; a party without any iota of shame?

“Instead of hiding his head in shame, the same Ayu went on a bribing spree, crediting the accounts of members of the NWC in a desperate and laughable attempt to hang on to office. Is this the party Nigerians can trust? Is this the party ready to govern Nigeria?

“Some Governors within the PDP have openly expressed reservation as to the capacity of the party leadership to deliver on its often touted promise to restructure and unite Nigeria when it is getting increasingly clear they are incapable of restructuring and unifying their party to start with.

“This is because their party has a Northern Presidential candidate and a Northern Party Chairman and also ignored the principle of zoning because its perennial presidential hopeful cannot cede the opportunity to others in the spirit of national inclusion and cohesion, having consistently put his interest above national interest.

“These concerns were expressed by some PDP Governors themselves. It is like hearing from the horse’s mouth. Need we say more? These frank and honest Governors are doing the Lord’s work for us.

“Every week, we are treated to a new revelation about the PDP crises and its profligate and thieving nature. A leopard can hardly change its spot, which means that the PDP is not repentant of its old ways. Certainly, Nigerians are not ready to be deceived again by these comic characters.

“We can all vividly recall the famous Dasukigate where the money allocated for national security was shared among party chieftains whilst Boko Haram was ravaging the country. We are yet to recover from that trauma and the PDP is showing us that their patented technology for sharing sleazy funds is alive.

“It appears all their pipelines for siphoning and redistributing public funds are still very much intact and are steaming to return to full operation.”

Keyamo said not only is the APC ready to govern Nigeria, it is prepared to be fair and just to all regions, as against PDP’s flagrant breaching of its constitution.

His words: ”On our part, our party has shown its commitment to be fair to all regions in the country. Whilst the PDP was breaching its own Constitution on power rotation and fairness, the APC Governors rose above primordial sentiments and rejected a move to Zone the APC Presidential ticket to the North, insisting that power must shift to the South after President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure. This is a party that believes in fairness and equity and all Nigerians can attest to that.

“Our party, being the largest party in Africa, has to consult far and wide with every critical stakeholder on campaign plans. We have put together a very strong women’s campaign team because we understand what it means to be inclusive and diverse and we are fully committed to the empowerment of women in the scheme of things. As a result, women must have their say as to how campaigns should be run.

“On 31st May 2018, President Buhari, who is the leader of our party, signed the Not-Too-Young-To-Run Bill into law. The APC also has a very extensive and broad youth campaign team. This is a party ready for Nigeria; it is a party ready to address squarely the real issues affecting Nigerians.

“Our Presidential candidate has a track record. He has held executive office; he has pioneered transformational changes. As of today, the IGR in Lagos has grown by 7400% from 1999 to 2021. This is one of the relevant issues that should animate public conversation at this moment; not the cacophony of sounds and fury from the PDP that signifies nothing.

“We advise the PDP to desist from its hallucinations and concentrate on rescuing itself before even thinking of ‘rescuing’ Nigeria.”
