Frankrobbn1: It might be better for you to apply alone first to increase your chances of getting the visa and also to strengthen your home ties by showing that you'll be coming back after your studies. Once your visa is approved and you're still in Nigeria, you can then apply for your eldest daughter to travel with you to Canada. When applying for her visa during this time, you can change the story a bit and explain that she can't cope being alone back home and would really appreciate her companionship. Just make sure to provide all the necessary documentation and information to support your case. Good luck with the applications, and I hope everything works out for you and your family!
It will end in praise Thanks a lot and noted |

JMG12: She is still a minor; therefore, she does not need a separate study permit application since she will be accompanying you. Thanks. Please: 1. Do I apply for her as I apply for mine by just putting her as someone accompanying me? 2. Do I apply first then when it is out, I apply for her? 3. Do I just wait till I get there then apply for visiting visa or study permit for her? Thanks in advance. |

JMG12: If your daughter is already an adult and wants to attend college, then you have to make a different application for her; applying as your dependent might be an issue with your application. The application process for her would generally be distinct from applying as a dependent. Dependents typically refer to spouses or dependent children, and age restrictions may apply. She is 13 years old . Thanks |

shinaxurdick: Good afternoon gurus !
Pls i an urgent question.. some huge money came into my sponsor account this week and we already have plan to explain it in letter of explanation. Although is an account with regular inflow and outflow..Our plan is to print the statement of account by 28th of this month so that we can start application before jan 2024.
Pls are we good to go ? Is 3 weeks enough before we print the statement? I need urgent response pls 🙏 So long as the explanation for the lump sum is made and you can confirm the funds will be available for your use; I see nothing wrong in printing it now sef but if you can wait longer, it would have been prudent Nevertheless, let the gurus step in. |

Frankrobbn1: It will end in praise JMG12: . Good day all Gurus in the house. I have the proof of funds to cover my self and 5 other family members for two years. However, except for my eldest daughter, all my family are in the US. And I was recently denied a U.S. visa because of this. My dilemma is if I should apply for a study permit for my eldest daughter simultaneously as I am applying for my own or I should wait till mine is approved and then apply for her. I do not want to leave her behind. If I am to apply alone and fill that I am not going with her (home ties), when can I apply for her? My resumption is Sept 2024 and I plan to apply in March. Thanks in advance for your response. |

If yes, then can you explicitly say you intend to raise the living expenses for the other year by working part time during your studies? I will leave it for the gurus to respond but as far as I know and observed, if you indicate you plan to work to survive, it is a definite refusal. |

Frankrobbn1: Sorry if there was any confusion. If you're already in Canada with a valid visa and you're looking to apply for a US visa, you generally don't have to be interviewed in a nearby country outside of Canada. The US visa interview for non-immigrant visas is typically conducted at the US embassy or consulate in the country where you are currently residing. In this case, since you're already in Canada, you would likely have your interview at the US embassy or consulate in Canada. However, it's always a good idea to check the specific requirements and procedures for applying for a US visa in Canada, as they may vary depending on your circumstances. Let me know if you have any more questions!
It will end in praise Thanks a lot for the clarity. 👍👍👍 |

Ghanagyal93: Hello….please if you are granted your Canada study visa and you are in Canada right…can you apply for a US visitor visa while you are in Canada? And if so, will they allow you to do the interview in Canada. Frankrobbn1: If you're granted a Canada study visa and you're in Canada, you can apply for a US visitor visa. However, the interview for the US visitor visa typically needs to be done at a US embassy or consulate outside of Canada. You'll need to schedule an appointment at the nearest US embassy or consulate in a country where you have legal entry. Keep in mind that the requirements and procedures for obtaining a US visitor visa may vary, so it's always a good idea to check with the specific embassy or consulate for the most up-to-date information. Good luck with your visa applications! 🌟
It will end in praise Thank you for responding to @ Ghanagyal93 . However, I have interest in the bolded; are you saying that even though he has a valid visa and is already in Canada, he/she will have to be interviewed in a nearby country outside canada? |

Rapujoshua: Please I need help This is my 2rd refusal, First was on financial ground, which was a mistake on my end. When I order GCMS note it was exactly on the error in document I did.
Now I corrected everything used a good detail POF of about 85kUSD account, the account is also a running account. (Sponsored by my cousin in the US, I also proof relationship) I uploaded my admission letter Stated I have my parents and family here in Nigeria. A study leave document from my place of work, stating I will come back to them. Paid deposit on my tuition fee
What could have been the problem You need to get your GCMS notes before you apply again. How much is ur school fees and how much did u deposit? how many years course is the programme? How did you prove your relationship with your cousin? |

JMG12: Your quote might be right; failure to declare a US visa refusal can cause a Canadian visa refusal, of which I am sure you are aware. The VO might look at his outland ties to judge. It won't be logical for the VO to state that in the correspondence letter, although it is generic since the applicant didn't say he has family in Canada but in the US. A lot of things happen duration application, which is why we share experiences on this platform so everyone can learn I am glad we are aligning. I agree with your no.2 point in ur response to him. He needs to co-sponsor. His cousin and not his brother or sister is the one fully sponsoring. No landed property, gift of deed or contribution from any family member in Nigeria. So nothing to establish ties at home through finances. Or any sort of commitment from his people at home. Cousin may seem distant and may even be worse if they have different surnames. How did he establish relationships? |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by danowena: 9:54pm On Nov 21, 2023 |
JMG12: What do you think the VO met by having no significant ties outside of Canada? Canada is not US and having a Canadian visa doesn’t give you access to US.Hence why I ponder on it. Because having the visa of one doesn’t guarantee you of the other. Same reason a U.S. refusal doesn’t mean a Canadian refusal. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by danowena: 8:24pm On Nov 21, 2023 |
JMG12: From the generic correspondence letter you shared 1. This could suggest that you did not make it apparent in your information that you intended to study in Canada temporarily. 2. The account statement you submitted was that of your sponsor; try to be a co-sponsor and cover up your asset 3. The VO saw that your ties in the USA outweigh those in Nigeria, despite your attempts to convince the VO using your job and parents
You can order your GCMS note to get the precise reason for the refusal So ties in the US affect your Canada application? |

Kenny4real68: He is the CEO and owner. He provided all proof of company ownership, including letter of Board resolution stating that his directors/ share holders ( nuclear family) are fully aware!!! He doesn’t have any dependant, all his kids are grown ups and are working. This was also stated Like i was saying you need to know that the company is different from your uncle (even if it is sole proprietorship). It is either that the company sponsors you or your uncle sponsors you. And you need to provide the statement of account of the sponsor. If it is your uncle, the company's account statement is not his account statement. And also provide proof of future earnings. Request your GCMS notes before re-applying. |

Kenny4real68: APPLICATION REFUSED!!! September 12th applicant
Reason: only based on financial situation
Sponsor: Uncle and myself as co-sponsor
Uncle Paid full tuition of $18,789 cad. ( note my program is one year PGC)
I have $6,000 usd in my Dom saving acc.
I also submitted my Naira account with about 18 million. ( though I have 8 million lump sum which I explained in my sop was sent by my uncle (sponsor) for living expenses. I even included evidence of transaction. My sponsor submitted his company bank statement with closing balance of around 13 million , inflow 400 million and outflow out flow about 397 million
Now with all dis, how on earth was I refused based on financial status. Could it be the officer that handled my application was having a bad day or could it be the officer made mistake. I have seen people on this trend get refused, and they reapplied with same exact document and get approved.
My program is for January, I am thinking of reapplying, please any idea of what can be done different this time around. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated It is actually an intriguing case owing to the fact that you seemingly satisfied the financial requirements. I am not an expert so I will advise u wait for the gurus in the house. However, on a closer look I observed that ur uncle sent 38% of his company’s account balance to you. Doesn’t he have immediate family and other extended family members? Did u put the proof of your uncle’s source of income and provide any sort of comfort that he will continue to have money? Things like contracts he has executed, MOU he signed, explain the kind of work his company does. Secondly, you provided a company account. Is it the company sponsoring you or him? You need to understand that a company is regarded as an entity different from your uncle even if the company is unlimited. You cannot say your uncle is sponsoring u and you are proving the sponsorship with his company account and without his own personal account statement. Did he provide an affidavit of sponsorship. The money he sent you , did he do a deed or affidavit for it? |

Please I need to find out if a Cooperative mortgage bank is accepted to use as a bank to show as proof of funds for SELF SPONSORED Canada visa application.
Your feedback will greatly help me make the right decision.
Thank you Please save yourself unnecessary prayers by using a commercial bank. Please read previous posts and see the advice given. I understand that VO’s frown at commercial banks cos of the stays CBN gave them .It has worked in the past does not mean it will work for you. You can transfer the funds to a commercial bank and then include both statements stating that you included the merchant bank cos it is ur salary account for proof of source. |
