Please clarify the amount you were charged, and how much is the phone you bought?, cause I'm expecting a xiaomi redmin note 5 by next week

Please, I have 2 questions : (1) Did you use GTB naira or domiciliary account for the payment? (2) If you used naira account for the payment, how much did GTB sell the $163 for you (exchange rate) (3) How long before your order arrives Nigeria?

1. I used my naira GTB mastercard.
2. 361 naira. It depends on the Naira equivalence to dollar at the moment. Search Naira to dollar on google for that.
3. 2-4 weeks max

Morning again guys, i decided to open this thread cause i know its going to be useful for many of us. I started a thread yesterday morning about how I am facing difficulty paying for a xiaomi phone (Redmin note 5 64gb 4gb Ram) of about $163 with my Naira MasterCard (GTbank). Now, to solve this problem if it arises during your transactions, just don't use the app to pay for it, find a browser and log in your account there because the bank want to subject you to receive OTP because of the amount involved i guess, cause i have "NEVER" received OTP throughout all my transactions on Ali Express. The Ali Express app will only redirect you to a browser-like page displaying a link related to the bank card you are using, and also with reasons why the transaction didn't go through i.e data connection, blah blah bleh. Simply log in to a browser, and try paying through that. There, its going to bring your bank OTP page to continue with the transaction, and your "BIG" issue is solved.

I faced similar problems with aliexpress till appeal reason my matter. You will scan your atm card(cover with cello tape the 8 middle numbers) , your valid ID and bank statement to security@aliexpress.com stating your problems in the mail. You can as well chat their CC on their app. They are very helpful though my issue got resolved 6 days later after pestering their CC due to voluminous appeal they get daily. That's the best shot for you on aliexpress. They tend to protect customers from card theft etc.

3. Can I be lucky enough to order for a phone and escape the custom fee?

It only depends on the weight, and not the price of the product. Most sellers don't disclose the real price of the product, some even tag it as gifts all because they don't want custom to bill you. For a typical phone, you might only end up paying like 1k (at most) for the custom clearance. Trust me, i have bought a lot of things on Ali Express, so i obviously know what I'm talking about, and the most have paid on an order is 500 naira

I even thought maybe there is a restriction on my card, but i doubt that because i have done several transactions on it before, but not worth like $163. Pleaee, to those that have bought phones on Ali Express before, tell me how to go by this problem. Thanks.

I have received a lot of deliveries through post office, and i don't think the post office of any state have the right to open the package except when it comes through the airport, and gets cleared by Nigerian Custom, and custom always seals back any package they checked. Also, if you are to pay any price on your package, it's going to be written on it.

P.S: we don't collect receipt for that kind of money though
