Rumors coming in says that controversial crossdresser, Okuneye Idris, aka Bobrisky may not be released before the Eid-il-Fitri break.


The report claims that the crossdresser is likely going to spend the holiday in custody.


TopNaija gathered that Bobrisky was arrested on April 3 and convicted by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Friday, April 5, 2024. He pleaded guilty to the charges of naira abuse levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.


The EFCC has filed a six-count charge against Bobrisky. The first four counts pertain to the abuse of Naira, while the last two counts involve allegations of money laundering.


In a recent court hearing, the EFCC prosecutor made a request to dismiss counts five and six before proceeding with reading the charges.


Bobrisky has admitted his guilt in the case involving four counts of Naira abuse.


Bobrisky in question humbly requested for forgiveness, expressing his lack of knowledge regarding the regulations surrounding the misuse of the Naira. He also made a commitment to use his social media platform to educate his followers on this matter.


“I am a social media influencer with over five million followers. I would do a video on my page, and I would educate people about spraying money. I will not repeat it, My Lord. I regret my actions, My Lord. I am a first-time offender,” he said.


In a recent development, Justice Abimbola Awogboro has set a date for the sentencing of the individual in question. The sentencing is scheduled to take place on April 9, 2024. As part of the order, the individual will be held in EFCC custody until the sentencing date.


In a recent announcement, the Federal Government has officially declared April 9 and 10, 2024, as public holidays to commemorate the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.


In a statement released by the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Aishetu Ndayako, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, revealed this information.


According to investigation, it has been discovered that the scheduled sentencing of Bobrisky on April 9 coincides with the Eid-il-Fitri break. As a result, it is uncertain whether the court session will take place unless Justice Awogboro decides to hold the sentencing today.


The controversial crossdresser is expected to spend the upcoming holiday season behind bars.




Subsequently, Justice Abimbola Awogboro scheduled April 9, 2024, for his sentencing and ordered that he be held in EFCC custody until then.


However, on Sunday, the Federal Government declared Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9 and 10, 2024, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

Dog owners seems to have appeared on the Osun State Police radar as they are warned to cage their pests or risk arrest.

TopNaija gathered that SP Yemisi opalola, the spokesperson of the command, who stated this to the press, said that the warning had to be issued because of the increasing rate of dog attacks on the State's citizens.

In the statement, Opalola said allowing dogs to roam without leach is a violation of the Dog Act Cap 35 Law of the Federation of Nigeria. She explained that it is an offence “if any dog gets loose and bites anybody outside the compound”.

She said according to the law, dogs should be vaccinated, duly controlled and not be set loose to bite passers-by.

“The command is using this medium to draw the attention of members of the public especially those rearing or breeding dogs especially exotic ones for guard/security purposes or otherwise to the increasingly recent attacks on people by dogs. To this end, the Police Command enjoins members of the public to restrain their dogs in their houses in cages/leashes with a view to reducing attacks on people. They should further vaccinate these dogs in order to reduce the risk of contracting Rabies which can be deadly if these dogs happen to bite individuals,” Opalola said

The Lagos State Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has finally released proof of crossdresser, Bobrisky by displaying the mugshot of the crossdresser.

TopNaija gathered that the EFCC disclosed that Bobrisky was detained for Naira mutilation and will be taken to court at the end of the investigation.

The anti-theft agency brought this up after a video of him spraying and flaunting wads of new Naira notes at the premiere of a movie, Ajakaju on March 24, 2024. The movie was produced by filmmaker, Eniola Ajao, and the premiere was marked at Film One Circle Mall, Lekki, Lagos.

A statement from the commission reads;

“Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have commenced investigation of Iris Okuneye, a.k.a Bobrisky, for allegedly spraying Naira notes.

The EFCC had invited the 31-year old following a video report of spraying and flaunting wads of new Naira notes at the premiere of a movie, Ajakaju, produced by Eniola Ajao, a Nollywood actress and producer, at Film One Circle Mall, Lekki, Lagos on March 24, 2024.

Investigation also revealed that he had also committed the alleged offence at some other event centres and parties at different times.

Following the invitation by the Commission, he arrived at the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC in the morning of Wednesday, April 4, 2024 for interrogation and volunteered his statements.

He will soon be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation “.

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission approved a significant 250 per cent increase in electricity tariffs on Wednesday. Here is what Nigerians need to know about this hike.

It is worth noting that NERC has given its approval for 'Band A' electricity customers in Nigeria to be charged at a rate of N225 per Kilowatt.

In a noteworthy development, there has been a significant shift in the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry regarding electricity subsidy. This comes at a time when the country is grappling with persistent issues of epileptic power supply across the nation.

Customers Affected by Hike

According to NERC, the eleven electricity distribution companies provided a minimum of 20 hours of power supplies exclusively to Band A customers.

Only 15 percent of Nigeria's 12.12 million electricity customers are affected, as stated by Musiliu Oseni, the Vice Chairman of NERC.

In a recent statement, he clarified that the increase in tariffs would have no impact on customers with less than 20 hours of power supply, specifically those on B, C, D, and E.

Implication of New Electricity Tariff

Electricity consumers under Band A will now face a significant increase in their power supply costs, with a hike of 250 per cent.

Customers under Band A will no longer receive any electricity subsidies, according to recent developments.

A band A significant number of households in urban areas in Nigeria have experienced a decline in customers.

NERC reports that Band A customers are responsible for consuming 40 percent of the country's electricity.

Unfortunately, despite the increase, there will be no positive impact on the electricity supply for the customers in question.

Date of hike commencement

Discos have started implementing the new electricity tariff as per the recent tariff order. The implementation began on Wednesday, 3rd April 2024.

Customers in Band A are now facing a staggering 300% increase in their electricity bills.

Since January 2024, customers in Nigeria have been experiencing frequent power outages, causing significant inconvenience.

The Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, on Sunday disclosed that he received a revelation from God that President Bola Tinubu will complete his eight years in office before leaving.

Umahi stated this when he was featured as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today to discuss the extent of work done on the Third Mainland Bridge and the 700km Lagos-Calabar coastal expressway.

Ex minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu has urged the Nigerian president, Bola Tinubu, to negotiate with bandits instead of using "kinetic measure".

Adebayo Shittu, the former minister in the cabinet of former president Muhammadu Buhari, said that the Tinubu-led government should use non-kinetic approach in dealing with the menacing phenomenon of banditry in Nigeria.

He stated this while making an appearance on media outlet, Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Tuesday.

In his words;
“If I am in position, it is not too late to use non-kinetic measures in negotiating with bandits, giving them a promising future. Let us retain them. Many of them are very intelligent, many of them are able-bodied,” Shittu said, adding that the military spending on equipment far outweighed the non-kinetic approach.

The ex-minister said the millions of out-of-school children in Northen Nigeria is a “production factory for banditry” in the country.

Like Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, Shittu opined that the government should negotiate with bandits “for the purpose of resettling, rehabilitating and retraining them”.

A 24-year-old man has been remanded for allegedly having his way and raping his neighbour in Lagos State.

The rapist, identified as Ebuka Ibe, was said to have had unlawful carnal knowledge with his neighbour at his residence, 16, Eyitayo St., Ajao Estate, Lagos.

He was sent to Kirikiri Correctional Centre, on Tuesday, by a Magistrate court in Ikeja, over the criminal act.

F. D Hughes, the Magistrate, rejected Ibe's plea due to lack of jurisdiction.

The case has been adjourned until April 17 to seek legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.

According to Inspector Samuel Mishozunnu, the prosecutor, the alleged offence took place on February 18 at the defendant's residence.

According to Mishozunnu, he allegedly raped his 20-year-old neighbour while she was asleep.

Ibe reportedly entered the victim's bed during the night and committed the act of rape, while concerned neighbours urgently cried for help.

The crimes committed went against the regulations outlined in Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)

A young, adventurous lady identified as Pelumi Nubi was said to be involved in an accident amidst her quest to journey from London to Lagos with a vehicle.

TOpNaija had earlier reported how the young lady took it upon herself to make the journey.  

Sadly, the news about her accident was shared on her Instagram page on Tuesday, 26, 2024.

She also shared a picture of the now-wrecked car she had been using for the trip. As could be seen, the front section of the vehicle sustain severe damage while the windscreen appeared unrecognizable.

she said, “Taking on a career without any gender focus is already tough. As a dancer, the only place we were appreciated was when we were displaying for the National Troupe, or when were called by a governor for a national assignment.

"Dancing was not a mainstream career, neither was it commercially viable. Breaking into that door that did not exist was the main sacrifice for me, as well as the pain of losing family friends and people around me. I was practically isolated.

"There even some people who initially supported me, but withdraw their support because they did not see what I was seeing.”

speaking further, the award-winning dancer stated that women in the entertainment were often viewed as sexual objects.

She said, “As a woman, one is often asked what value one brings to the table to be considered with one’s male peers. I struggled a lot with that, because while expressing myself, I had to deal with music directors, editors and different stakeholders who felt one’s opinion was not necessary.

"But, one of the things that helped me was the fact that I am highly educated and intellectual enough to express my ideas and implement them in ways that earned me respect. I was also hands on with whatever I said.”

Kaffy also noted that in the course of her career, she got more support from men than women.

Amid the ongoing crisis rocking the Labour Party (LP) and its faceoff with the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Daniel Bwala, a former spokesman of the Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, has made a controversial claim about Peter Obi's political future.

In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, Bwala alleged that the LP presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, is planning to dump the party and join forces with former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Bwala tied this alleged defection plan to the current dispute between the LP and the NLC over calls for the removal of the party's national chairman, Julius Abure.

The Labour Party has been embroiled in internal wrangling, with the NLC pushing for Abure's ouster amid claims of his inability to properly manage the affairs of the party.

Weighing in on the crisis, Bwala suggested that as the LP intensifies efforts to remove Abure and the current national leadership, Obi is purportedly making plans to exit the party and team up with El-Rufai in the SDP.


He wrote, “BREAKING-Peter Obi @PeterObi allegedly planning to unite with El-rufai @elrufai in Social Democratic Party as Nigerian Labour Congress set to take ownership and custody of their political party, the @NgLabour . Recall that there was a judgment of court that states that Nigeria Labour Congress owns Labour Party. NLC is now prepared to take custody of that party. Twist and turns in the coming days. But all that will not give sleepless night to @officialABAT who himself has his magic wands to wield.”

Neither Peter Obi nor his camp has responded to Bwala's allegation as of the time of filing this report.

The LP has witnessed a surge in popularity, particularly among Nigerian youths, following Obi's strong performance in the 2023 presidential polls.
