Work begins ... Our site is a 8 units 4 bedroom bedroom + attached bq at ikate - elegushi , lekki, Lagos state, built by yours truly

Various segment of the biodegradable system are:

1. The inspection chamber /inlet
2. Digester
3. Hydraulic pit
4. Septic tank/slurry pic

How it works

When organic material (including human feces, animal waste, and plants) is digested by microorganisms in the absence of oxygen (anaerobic digestion) a gas is released consisting of 60% methane and 40% carbon dioxide. This gas is typically called biogas and because it can be ignited, it may be used as a cooking and heating agent.

The methods that would be employed in this process isn't new or recent , it's actually well in use in Ghana, Kenya and some areas in Cameroon, but it's just making its way to the Nigerian market ..

Ps.: I'm not a pro in the construction process yet, but just sharing my experience and little knowledge acquired in working with these guys

Waste management, disposal and treatment has always been a major and reoccurring problem in the building and construction industry, especially in most areas in Lagos that's are always flooded or where the water table is very high. Septic tanks and soak-away pits tends to get filled up easily, which leads to frequent evacuation, thereby making it uneconomical..

The construction of biodegradable septic tank system is aimed at eliminating totally then need to evacuate waste (both solids and liquids)

I did TWO plots for #350K in Lagos recently and they initially asked for #200K per plot.

Some actually do it for as low as #150K per plot.
Just say that YOU cant do it for that amount, not that others cant do it for that amount or even less.
I know your association upped the price about a year or two ago but that does not means some members who are reasonable and flexible will stick to that exorbitant directive.

And this is a Registered Surveyor that l had known for over two decades when survey was #50K/plot so the issue of "wrong hands" is a red herring.

Firstly , I'm not a surveyor,

Secondly , I posted a document that clearly shows what it cost to get a registered survey done in various areas in Lagos state. And I don't believe fees paid to government agencies are negotiable..

So how you where able to get a registered survey for the stated amount is beyond me, or maybe you did a back dated survey.

These are summary of schedule of survey fees from the office of the surveyor general for Lagos state, can't post a complete PDF files here, so would try and screenshot the entire document and post , so you can see clearly what it entails/cost to get a registered survey done in Lagos state .

Pls if you spend the sum of 600k to do a survey on a haif plot of land within lagis pls how much was the cost of the land i think this is too much to survey just for half plot of land abba

If you have ever tried doing a building approval or any other payments with regards to either buildings and lands you would be shocked as well... That's just the Lagos state government for you , doing things the right way, through the right channel especially with Lagos state government, doesn't come cheap..

Just for those doubting ... There's no way you can do a survey in Lagos for 200k.. don't be fooled or decieved

I've heard people asking for close to 400k sometimes to do a survey in Lagos. I believe its pure extortion.

Meanwhile, to our supply experts. Are 8ft security doors available in the market? And I discovered wooden-finish internal doors are making big waves these days. Are they also available in 8ft height?

It not extortion, I recently did a survey for a half plot for 600k... There's no way you can get a survey in Lagos for 200k, that's how people fall into wrong hands
