Not fashola who was literally swimming in money when he was the governor and still didn't blow our minds but started deporting Nigerians in Nigeria. In a sane country Fashola will never hold a federal post, but anything goes in Nigeria....Its so sad.

What happened to push the GDP to the level in 2014 was as a result of re-basing of the economy by the previous government .. the other thing you need to consider is that Nigeria maintains a fixed exchange rate system controlled by the central bank unlike the flexible floating rate system you'll find in modern economies .. this fixed exchange rate somehow makes their GDP look impressive but that's not the reality on the ground .. I've shared a report on this from Reuters before .. that's​ why you find multiple exchange rates on their currency market and the more reason why the interbank rate and the parallel market rate don't converge .. the effect of this is that the bank I used while in Nigeria restricted their debit cards to $100 / month for foreign currency transactions .. those MasterCard debit cards couldn't even be used outside Nigeria .. I don't know if these restrictions have been removed but that was the reality back then .. you don't find these inconsistencies elsewhere ..

Nigeria should just cultivate a system similar to what's obtainable in Switzerland and Belgium; where there are different regions with different languages.
Switzerland has a French region, Italian region, Romansh speaking region and the bulk of the country is in the German language region.
Belgium has a Flemish (Dutch) speaking region, a French speaking (Wallonia) region and a tiny German speaking region.

In Nigeria, we could make the northern part a Hausa speaking region; southwest: Yoruba language region and southeast: Igbo language region.
The other minority groups (south-south) can choose between the two of Yoruba and Igbo.
