There is voter apathy which I'm not denying, but the guy I quoted was giving the impression that Delta North has a far larger voter strength which is a big lie. Delta Central result from the last two elections were poor because most people are beginning to loose hope in the system. Their massive support for Ogboru in 03 & 07 yielded no success.

From the screenshot, we can see the voting numbers coming from Burutu, Bomandi and those riverine communities are fraudulent. Now, I'm beginning to believe Isoko isn't even a minority in Delta South to start with. Next year will be interesting.
I don't think we're a minority. We're not politically inclined as the others. I doubt if there's a town or city in Delta state outside ijaw and isoko areas where ijaw people outnumber the isokos. We're definitely more than the other guys.
The ijaw people have benefited massively from militancy and enriched themselves massively and in so doing pulling political clout for themselves while the itsekiris have benefited from their monopoly of warri et Al.
I hope things change but at the moment we're not even in the discuss for the Senatorial seat or deputy governorship
I hear the ijaws are seriously vying for the governorship BTW

Efewestern:
You are using last election to judge voting strength? Please be smart in your argument. Imagine believing Uvwie has only 25k voters and Udu 17k. I mean, these two are the most urbanized and most populated LGAs in Delta State.

Now, let's look at stats.

Registered Voters in Delta State in 2011 was 2,044,372 (https://guardian.ng/general-elections-2011/inec-results-live-updates-as-jega-announces-results-of-election-2015-at-press-conference/)

Meanwhile, Delta Central had over 819,118 registered voters as at that time (https://www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/ssouth-east/146332-819118-registered-voters-participate-delta-senatorial-bye-election-inec.html)

Meaning 40% of Delta's voting strength are in Delta Central. If you distribute the remaining 60% between North and south, how then are they majority?

You should stop misleading people online.
Voter apathy is very strong in Delta central tho.
They have the most populated local governments but very embarrassing turnout.
The below is from the physical registration for the on going continuous voters registration exercise. The online registration is almost 300k for Delta state which is the second highest nationally but lga by lga breakdown is not available for that

Creating an aditional seat is a gritty process which I don't see happening in the next thirty years. The whole court processes are strange to me if I'm to be sincere.
They've had the issue on going for awhile and from the video, the dude said they'll be having a second constituency next election sooo

darfay, there hasn't been any additional seat created. Both North and central has a balanced members of nine each. We also has Warri south I as additional seat.

Also, it would be near impossible for them to dominate. And how do we up their game? I thought some of you said we were too domineering?
I know about the warri south seat hence the 10, I had to do some quick Google search and I noticed they've been court cases which they've gotten a favourable judgement by the way and issues with inec for a supposed restoration for Aniocha north II. We currently 29 seats instead of a supposed standard of 30 for a state with 10 federal reps (Another area you people were short changed). You guys should have vigorously used any means necessary to converse for the extra seat which I believe is done by population.

Politics is a game of interest, urhobos having the major controlling stake in the state is to our advantage. Ibori gave us the university and poly accruing to Delta south, an Anioma/ijaw governor will never have done that.

How's Aniocha north getting a second constituency in the state house of assembly ahead of uvwie, sapele, udu? All of which has a way more superior voter strength like by far...
That would equate to the urhobo 10 reps and even make it superior to Delta central despite fewer population..
The urhobo seriously need to up their political game because this Anioma might dominate our state @efewestern,Mystiquefia

I agree that Urhobo got the advantage if we count the indigenous population of Delta alone. However, in the stats you showed on voter's registration, the areas with the population are urban centres of Warri, Sapele and Asaba. These are given and there is no one population that you can claim to have an overwhelming majority. I wouldn't count those ones.
However, I would places with an overwhelming number of indigenous population like Ethiope West for instance (for Urhobo) or Ndokwa East (Anioma).
Urban areas of warri included uvwie, udu and you're saying urhobo don't have a visible majority there?
I think you're wasting my time

Ekealterego:
If you read further, I have agreed on that point that Urhobo got more population although marginally. The statistic I provided myself proved that Urhobo are truly but just marginally more populated. The population difference is however, not very much.
A wrong or right alliance on either side can tilt victory to either side.

However, we both agreed that if Anioma sought help from the SE, they would easily level that little difference.
You obviously did not look at the pic I attached which shows voting power of each local government either that or you don't which local government belongs to each tribe. I'm aware that there outsiders in those local government but even at that they still have a superior number. Ughelli north alone has more voters than aniocha north and south combined. Urhobo areas doesn't traditionally include warri south of which they're form a visible majority. And the uthobos still have a higher birth rate than their Anioma counterpart so I don't think the pendulum is changing direction anytime soon. Even if it came to ethnic alliance it's insane to think that isoko and urhobo of which you can not tell the difference wouldn't naturally form an alliance except you play your politics really really well
I think the oshimili/Aniocha people haven't benefited much from Anioma union apart from having the capital.
But asides that, I think everybody should respect the current rotational system and shun ethnic politics. At the end of the day we should think of moving the state forward with critical emphasis on human capital and other core competencies

The political elites are the ones fuelling and sponsoring the split. The fathers and leaders of old are the complete opposite of the leaders today.
In the days of Nzeogwu, "Delta Igbos" would never lose power in Delta state.

However, because of the rotation rubbish, politicians from each LGA feel they can split themselves further. So that the rotation can even get to them more specifically.

For greedy politicians, dividing further might benefit them directly and instantly in the short run but for visionaries, banding together might benefit them in the long run.

Anioma as a group is larger than Urhobo. They just need a support from Igbos in neighbouring Onitsha and Imo or even Rivers state and maybe small alliance from one small group in Delta to seal the deal. Heaven will not fall.

How is Agbor a capital? Agbor na village. Kiree (Asaba) had better opportunities for development. Instead of Agbor, them for kukuma leave the thing for Warri.

On the other hand, why is it that Agbor people detest being called, "Ika"? Division upon division.

Again, I saw a population census and writing about Ika in 1950. Many parts of today's Ukwuani identified as Ika. it seems there is a big reshuffling between those villages.
I think you're grossly misinformed, going by voting power the urhobo areas are superior to Anioma by a margin not including warri south which is outside of Delta central but still has an urhobo majority plus if it came to ethnic politics like you're insinuating the isoko people will easily vote for our urhobo brothers. That's over 50% of the state. I just think the uthobos are bad at politics

This has been resisted, sometimes leading to violence.

So I know about it.
You're mixing it up.
Okugbe is not a place but the name of a kingdom called "okugbe Isoko" which comprises of 5 Isoko communities in Bayelsa of which all communities you mentioned are a part of.How can they wrongfully have dominion/authority over osekwenike when it is the seat of "okugbe Isoko" kingdom?
Your assertions on this thread are totally wrong. Those communities are not even remotely bilingual.
There are no ukwani communities in Bayelsa but rather Rivers state
PoliticsRe: Isoko Tribe Of Bayelsa State And Igbo Misconception by darfay:
Fejoku:
With those communities OP listed, I'll ensure to carry out real investigations on them by visiting some of them to put this matter to rest.
Now unto the Igbo(Ndokwa)/Isoko relationship, one can't understand them without understanding that history.
In the old days early 19th century, Aboh was the most powerful kingdom on the Niger up untill Idah in the Igala country. She heavily participated in slavery getting slaves from all around her area of influence and still buying from Idah. She will then sell those slaves to Brass who will either take the victims to Bonny or sell them straight to Brazilian slavers who inside the Brass rivers to evade British anti-slavery ships at that time because slave trade was abolished in 1807.
In those days ethnicity was very fluidy especially in the boundary areas. People moved around and settled wherever they get much food and less problems irrespective of the different language they encounter there. They just learn the language in some cases or muddle up the language with that of others to develop a slightly different language from both languages. If one language features more in the mixed language, it continues to share the same language classification with the predominant language around it. I can say confidently that I now understand Isokos claim of being distinct from Urhobo. Isokos might have originally been Urhobos but after the great exodus from Benin city, a lot of other edoids who fled passed through their territory and added to the mix. Such edoids are the Egenni, Epie-Atissa etc. One will notice that the Isokos have both LGAs sandwiched between Igbos of Ukwuani and the Urhobos therefore a good number of Igbos must have moved into the territory and added to the mix to create a further divergence from Urhobo. Some Isoko South communities Igbide to be specific claim Igbo origin but are today Isokos. This is how one can be able to understand the name similarities that exist between Igbo and Isoko. Some Isoko communities are found in the Ndokwa East/Isoko South fringes and the story of a mixture of people is the same. It is with this understanding that one can use to question and look at such communities like Osekwenike and Abuetor(Igbo sounding names) as Igbo communities. I'll appreciate if any Isoko can give us the meaning of those names in the Isoko language.
It is my desire that we discuss these things with the mindset of understanding one another and accepting the truth for what it is.
Another thing we must not forget is the fact that some other really tiny languages might have been swallowed by either Igbo or the edoids around that area because from my studies, I've come to see a continuum that shows clearly how connected most people around that lower Niger is. It might be very difficult to put them into exactly one language family e.g Igboid or edoid or Ijoid. Take for instance, the Igboid Ekpeyes call their king 'Eze Logbo' and here we see an Isoko claim that those communities have their king traditional title as Odiologbo.
I just saw this thread and I'll try to give an honest befitting answer devoid of ethnic sentiment

Concerning the afformentioned communities, The deductive truth is that they were originally founded by ukwale/ndokwa people but they accepted migrants from neighbouring isoko communities considering the fact that isokoland is much smaller than ndokwaland which is also sparsely populated. The isoko migrants out numbered their earlier ukwani settlers and the towns/villages/settlements moved from being billingual to being monolingual. No isoko person knows the meaning of those towns not even the ones currently occupying it or calling it their homeland and that's why communities like anibeze, osikwenike which is the headquarters of a kingdom called okugbe isoko which should loosely be translated as united isoko kingdom or unity or something like that together with abuetor and they currently unilingual communities . Other communities in ndokwa east like umuti are also entirely isoko speaking largely due to the same process. Asaba ase is the most recent of such as some of the migrations were in the 1900's but the community is billingual and shifting towards the latter. Some isoko communities like igbuku might still have a relic of ukwale heritage as a few of it's inhabitants are billingual in kwale and isoko with the isoko being by far more dominant and it's even neighbouring to Aboh and it's one of the few isoko communities to have a masquerade, something quite alien in isoko tradition and culture, ogbokiri ama should be of ijaw origin that probably went through same process. Many other purely isoko communities also exist in ndokwa east such as ibrede which is one of the largest communities in the local government, awa, onogbokor and many I can't recall. Isoko people should be anywhere from 15 to 25% in ndokwa east and possibly more as their communities are more densely populated than that of the ndokwas and with a higher birth rate plus an increasing migrant community in kwale communities like Aboh.
Unlike itsekiri and ijaw people that would have renamed the settlement into their native tongue they'll rather maintain it or butcher it's pronunciation for communities like ewho okrafor(okafor) in ndokwa east.

Concerning the uniqueness of isoko from their urhobo brothers, I don't think it was caused by migrants from outsiders. Isoko areas might have expanded into ukwale territories. The founder of ozoro which is arguably one of the largest isoko town is a bini prince named "opute". So it might not be wrong to conclude there was a migration into neighbouring territories of other ethnicity but it had very minimal effect on the language as there's hardly any serious dialectical difference between isoko communities as it should have been due to degree of influence from the other language from one community to another. Even dialects of anibeze, osikwenike, umuti which were probably founded by non isoko people are extremely uniform with anywhere else in isoko territory or even billingual communities like asaba ase. The truth is that as a stranger crossing from isoko communities in the core isoko local governments to those in bayelsa and ndokwa east you wouldn't know you already left any of the isoko local governments. The slight difference in language isn't particularly due to outsiders, for instance the Isoko word for play is Zaro while neighbouring ughelli areas should sule or something like that but it's exactly the same as that of Isoko in far away uwvie urhobo areas although Isoko and urhobo of ughelli areas/their prestige dialect I guess are more similar than urhobo of udu, sapele etc I have no idea of those of ethiope. Ethnic difference between the two ethnicity are so very blurred that communities such as evreni and uwheru were originally isoko communities but are now of urhobo ethnic nationality today. Isoko proper is older than urhobo as the oldest of the 5 languages that makes up the urhobo-isoko dialect continuum is part of isoko,According to some isoko quarters, most of their communities migrated from isoko areas.

Odionlogbo is a form of gerontocracy which is common in majority but not all of the isoko communities and ukwale areas where it is called okpala ukwu. Odion is elder while ologbo should be big and is loosely translated as the oldest person which it actually is as they believe wisdom comes with age, while a few isoko communities have Ovies which is a monarchical system as is more common with our urhobo brothers. I have no idea of what ezelogbo means but it should suggest something of a high king or something along that line

I CAN NEVER TRUST ANY LADY AGAIN IN MY LIFE

For more than a year now, I've been swallowing a lot of red pills. My awakening is all thanks to Ubunja. I stumbled upon one of his threads more than a year ago and since then, I've never looked back.

Now to why I can't trust any woman again.

This evening, I decided to improve my women-approaching skills. I'm currently serving (nysc) in one of the universities in Niger Delta area. For the first few months of my stay, I was minding my business and not interact with ladies. However, within the last one week, I have decided to step up. Within the last 1 week, I have approached one fellow corper and used Mode One approach (of Alan Currie) to woo her. I told her that I just want friendship and sex with her. I'm not interested in a committed relationship. She gave me an LJBF (let just be friends) offer, which I rejected. No be me she go use do mugu.

Today, I received more than the shock-of-my-life. I decided to walk around and outside the school this evening (6:30pm to 9pm). I got to one area that seems to be beer joints. These joints are everywhere. I saw a lot of ladies scantily dressed. I instantly knew they are prostitutes. I summoned courage to walk up to one guy there and ask him: "How much do they fuuccck these girls?"

The guy answered: "N500."

I was shocked.

You mean pussssy is this cheap?

The prostitutes I saw are what some guys would brag about as their girlfriends. I now pity guys who go into serious relationship with girls. You may never know the type of girl you're dating.

I left the beer joint area and decided to go to the female hostel area. I did that with the aim of cold approaching a lady to woo her.

On getting there, I sat down looking around and waiting for my target. I suddenly changed my mind when I saw what was going on. I saw many cars packed around the hostel.

Then, girls were coming out of the hostel and will just stand by the road.

Then, owners of the cars will just approach them and within 1 or 2 minutes, the girls will enter their cars and off they go.

I couldn't believe my eyes. Waaaooooh! These are the ladies many guys will later pay heavy bride price on.

Jesus!

My heart bleeds.

I have heard a lot of these tales before but I didn't see them in real life until today.

Guys, these ladies don't care. All they want is to enjoy themselves at their youthful age and then, when they hit the wall look for one unfortunate guy to turn to their husband.

I can never marry a lady that I don't deflower. And mind you, fake virginity now exist. My task now will be to know how to differentiate between fake and real virgin.

Overall, I can't trust any lady again in my life. Not possible.

For the remaining months I have for my nysc, I will now be frequenting the female hostel more often at night to remind myself of why I should never trust any lady again.
Someone needs to tell you that you're sick in the head

Today is Sunday...the sun god worshiping day practised by Christians....

The Christian Calendar;

Here now I wish to address the Christian calendar and its “pagan” origins. The majority of the western world follows the “solar calendar” as was implemented by the Christian Church centuries ago.

It should be noted, however, that at one time the Christians, like the Muslims and Jews, followed the “lunar calendar”. Today, Muslims and Jews still adhere to the “lunar calendar”, whereas the rest of the world, with a few exceptions, adhere to the “solar calendar”.

Before we begin though, I would like to point out that the “solar calendar” is somewhat imperfect. It is this imperfection that causes the addition of an extra day in February every four years. This is called a “Leap Year”. I will not be discussing astronomy here however, but rather the origins of the “solar calendar” and nothing more.

When civilization was still young, and before people knew any better, the most brilliant object they could see was the sun. They thought the sun was God and as such worshipped it.

This pagan idea remained with the Christians when they changed the Jewish Sabbath (Saturday) to the Christian day of rest (Sunday).

The Christians called this rest day “Sun-day”, a day dedicated to the Roman sun-god that I mentioned earlier. This pagan idea also had an influence on the names of the months.
But the so called christian is what the entire world uses including you. Even Islamic countries use it so rest

You're bloody distributor Asin an wholesaler not their bloody financial advisor! Apart from looking for customers what do you know? You're an incompetent disgrace unfit to discuss on matters that are waaay over your bald headed skull. If you have ever bought anything anything from organized department stores like ShopRite you would c vat in the receipt of manufactured items, how can you as an illiterate that you will forever be say it's manufactures that charge it alone? The only issue would be mechanism for computation of input/output, incremental vat etc for process that occurs across the country. Your ability to reason as a human being is highly questionable.
Never u as an illiterate question me again!

Positivepoint:
VAT is has already been paid buy the dealer before the product is shipped i his where house in Kano or Enugu. what happens is the transfer of that vat already paid to the consumers in Kano or Enugu.

The fear of vat decentralization is multiple taxation because Kano or Enugu will also insist on collection of same vat already paid dir by increasing the price of products and making consumers pay double.

Do ur research or simply buy anything from jummia or konga. Even though u r in Kano or Enugu the vat u paid will be remitted in Lagos.
As an accountant, I can never let your stupidity and misinformation slide just like that. vat is a consumption based tax that falls on the final consumer. Vat is charged on value addition, the manufacturer charges vat on the difference between cost of input and output (value added). So the distributor or whoever is next in line buys from them vat inclusive and sells to the consumer inclusive of vat charged for his own value addition, the final consumer buys Vat inclusive of the distributor, manufacturer etc and bears the brunt of it all. No be only HQ, that's the dumbest shit ever my Goddd!!
