Hey Riff Raff, love your work. I'm working on a mobile game and so far we have completed the game engine, have to say we've gotten a lot of positive feedback. However, I need some help spiffing up the looks on some of the game sprites. From what's I've seen you seem to be really good at this, would be interested in helping us out. Thanks |
Hey nairalanders, Is there anybody out there who can design sprite characters for video games? Myself and a group of people are currently working on a game concept that has loads of potential. We've gotten lots of positive feedback so far. However, we're also hearing that the graphics could use some reworking to make it a lot smoother. Ergo we need a graphics designer with some 2D sprite design skills. Interested persons should send an email to graphicsartistwantedng@yahoo.com |
Just wanted to announce to all my fellow nairalanders, Danfo, Nigeria's first mobile game has now been officially released in the UK, Europe and America. For those of you in Nigeria, sorry but you might have to wait a wee bit longer. You can get it on your mobiles, just follow the instructions here; http://web.bango.net/button/?bango=111333795118 |
Ehm, dude's instead of all this command line wahala why don't you just download netbeans free online at www.netbeans.org. ![]() |
Dude your best bet is to go with Java, it doesn't seem that .NET will ever catch up to Java on the mobile scene. C++ still has a fighting chance, but that's just in the smart phone/symbian market. U could also look into FlashLIte though (A version fo flash for mobile phones) |
have you checked www.programmersheaven.com there's lots of free javascript code there, but if you really know what you want u might have to do some hacking yourself. |
Man nice one keep it, had me cracked up for a while ![]() |
Really , ehj u have to give more info, What kind of work are we talking about, it is a contract job type of thing or is it more permanent, what kind of projects, or else you might not attract the best talent. |
I've used pdfchm.com before and they have a lot of good stuff, but recently, they stopped the free service and now you have to pay an annual fee to access the books. |
Funny I tot AWT was already extinct, true it's still included in jdk distributions but that's just for backward compatibility. Anyways, Swing is the current graphic API supported by Sun, but like the previous post said, you could try out SWT which I hear is better than Swing but it's an open source graphical package that plugs into the eclipse IDE. |
Aha you ppl r using a programming language called 'Python', Ori Iya mi oh, wonders will neva end u will now com and say they are chassing you in dreams, LOL Just kidding, I would like to learn but from afar it seems a little tricky and I wish i had the time but if it's as cool as you guys say it is just might give it a shot P.S: I'm scared of Regexs ![]() |
Firstly, I think it would be nice is webmasters of nairaland can do a little redesign so that the most recent posts come up first on any discussion thread. The reason my first post was so caustic was because I entered the discussion thread and lo and behold all I saw was postings from java-haters i was so blinded with rage dint even look at the dates on those postings I just signed up and let the venom fly. I take (some of it) back, going through the other pages i saw alot of cool replys big ups to sbucareer but pls take it easy you intimidate with your code sometimes cos i dont always have time to look through. Anyways I still strongly disagree that Java has failed, given it has it's shortcomings (SWING anyone) but that depends on the application in question and you always have work arounds (most java IDEs ie Eclipse, Netbeans etc have visual design capability). I would hardly call the only programming language that runs on all mobile phone platforms regardless of the maker a failure (nokia, motorola siemens etc), considering that that market beats the regular PC market on the basis of quantity sold per annum (we're talking billions of units a year). P.S: I think Africanboy was frustrated, trying to write code on a command prompt using DOS Edit ![]() |
Hey are there any educated people on this forum. If you are not informed about a topic please do some research before u post rather than make a fool of yourself online. If a program does not run both linux and windows it's due to bad programming practises and not the java language itself, I use java on a fairly regular basis and i know someone who has actually done a test for code portability that ran without hitches. P.S: The only reason Microsoft came out with .NET was because they were TERRIFIED of java's potential to displace plain VB |
