all well said and done. where are the vibes in software technology? where are programmers who have the passion in information technology? where are those who can be bold enough to present issues about code optimization? who are those who see software above the coding level and wonder what implication can be found in a code after a given time? such are what we need to make Nigeria giant of the world in terms of software technology and not in terms of football. we need hands who have ideas and ready to code it out. Nigeria is about to rule. some one bet me. watch out there are world class projects that are eminent from this country. Nairalanders stay connected and watch out for the explosion. i have been busy in the african open source forum: www.afrobyters.com

hi guys it seems we have a lot of open source guys in Nigeria but the question is how many of them can sit down and compose a bug free c code? what is the perspective of open source philosophy to the african nations. To me i see it as a challenge for the africans to embrace free and open source codes in order to move foward technologically. Enough of that how many guys are ready to work with me? Lets make ourselves available when my mirror site is ready i want to see contributions from my country men this time around. Pls lets move to the challenge, lets speak to the computer to move our country forward. well i think we will soon migrate from nairaland for our open source forum in a week. so guys i will post the site to you soon.

ProgrammingRe: How can I Insert What I Desinged In Corel-draw Into Vb6.0 Through Image Control by dasersoft: 11:17am On Nov 13, 2007
what you have to do is that when you make your image in corel draw export the image and save it with jpeg file format. Next you now go back to visual basic and change the strech property of the image control to true (this allows the control to adjust its size to the size of the picture. now go to the picture property of the image control and a dialog box will be given to you search for the picture and click on Ok button of the dialog box.

ProgrammingAt Last The Open Source Guys In University Of Jos Are Emerging With A Technology by dasersoft(op): 6:09pm On Nov 02, 2007
The 2007 september 15 software freedom day witness a hit in the university of jos that one may wonder a gigantic project that mere guys from this institution can come up with. they called this "UJNUX" a linux campus distribution for their institution. This witness the advent of three people (students) who are the future Richard Stallman, Linus torvalds and Eric Raymond of africa.
This guys who said they have been hacking the linux kernel for long said they have a hope of bringing the silicon valley of africa to Nigeria. These guys are open source phylosopher who are doing fine in various fields on discipline. you can see this on:

http://geeks.unijos.edu.ng

Well we are moving forward in Nigeria gradually.
bet me. Jos will launch the silicon valley of this country.sure bet. all sort of programmers are housed in this town.
any question should be forwarded and comments. bye. well the UJNUX is still in progress yet to be finished but has been lunched. Do we have nigerians that can help with there c codes on this project. lets know in order to create a mirror for this project.

ProgrammingRe: Where Is Nigeria In Software Technology? by dasersoft(op): 8:55am On Nov 01, 2007
well as a software developer i am facing the problems you guys have discussed so far but i dont think there is any need for relentness. we can collaborate(i mean the nigerian programmers) to embark on collaborative projects which will move the country forward. any programmer out there willing for such effort can spring up something. where are we and where is the way forward? everyone is after the money and all nigerian programmers have gone to the web eventhough it is the fact that we are in the web era but what happens to securities, game industries, service oriented applications, operating system design, compiler design, data mining, complex algorithms. we seems to be satisfied with the change(money) we get from developing sites and nothing more, we seems to leave reading for medical people not knowing that programming requires more of that, since change is the only constant in the programming world we need to move with change. i must tell you many classical visual basic programmers have found it difficult to migrate to vb.net  reason they dont want to change. lets have a change of mind and orientation. the writter is a KERNEL HACKER, an OPEN SOURCE PHILOSOPHER, a CODE POET, a GAME DEVELOPER with the directx technology, a SERVER/CLIENT developer base in the city of JOS. my best operating system is the DEBIAN LINUX DISTRO and best programming language is the native C language. we can do more than that and lets do just that. Nigeria will lead in IT. sure bet.

ProgrammingRe: Can IT Certifications Get Me a Profitable Job With My Third Class Degree by dasersoft: 1:07pm On Oct 18, 2007
AhmedGuru, you have really impress me with your response to this future programmer. Class or no Class we are more interesting in your script. the better guys are classless people. Third class is good for certificate but you must make first class in your personality. Programming is an art, it makes you create your own world. be ready to read more than you did in industrial chemistry. i hope ahmedguru has convinced you a lot?

ProgrammingRe: Visual Basic Expert Please Save A Soul by dasersoft: 11:19am On Oct 15, 2007
hey,
visual basic is a RAD(Rapid Application Development) application. it requires a very good understanding of basic as a programming language. since visual basic is an event driven application it can not be discussed on this forum since it implies a whole project. however you can start the project then programmers can help you on some modules(procedures). this is of course the way to do it. however if you insist getting a complete project that computes the cummulative grade point. then you can reach me on daseronline@yahoo.com.sg. but this is not important you can do it yourself.

ProgrammingRe: Help In Game Design And Analysis Needed by dasersoft: 6:50pm On Oct 12, 2007
if you are going into gaming, there are some technologies i will advice you to go into. you need the DirectX SDK which is found in www.microsoft.com/directx. this technology is great since most people use microsoft windows. on the other hand if you want a general platform games you will need to use OpenGl which runs on both linux and windows.
The knowledge of the following will give you an edge in designing a powerful game.
Artificial intelligence dont you ever use Deterministic algorithm
aritifical neural networks
spritting and tilling
virtual reality
and lots more.

wonder shall never end. you need skillfull programmer and you want certification and must be a graduate. maybe you should consider because the best guys out there do not posses your requirement. Or you want to be like e-transact that will require the age of 33 and above?
ProgrammingRe: Young Programmer Who Needs Advice! by dasersoft: 6:30pm On Oct 12, 2007
HEY MEN FELLOW NIGERIANS. I think you can change nigeria even by not getting the compiler yourself maybe tru another means, politics or business. My friend if you are serious about what you want to do, then you must learn to do stuff yourself most especially from the base. remember "knowledge is like a pyramid, to build you need a solid foundation.

Bioye is fine, and i hope he will go places but is there any need "reinventing the wheel"? i think something else should be thought of, not google and facebook. i mean a new concept in this case
