My first car was a cheap peugeot runaround I bought for £995 from my local dealer, it served me very well for over 4 years. I only changed it last year for a 2015 model with low mileage. Personally, I would advice that you should never use finance/loans to buy a car. Buy a good car you can afford. If you feel you are loaded and have money to throw around every month, use the money to pay off your mortgage. If you have paid off your mortgage, invest the excess money in properties for rent, trade in shares/stocks etc. I see a lot of people borrowing to buy cars when they are still living in a home they do not own.
Sometimes, the thrill is in the experience of going through something which may not be financially wise, but to the person makes perfect sense.

Hi

As I don’t seek luxury, I would like to know which option is better in terms of getting a car;
- via finance (paying tad bits per month with an agreed APR for 60months)
- buy upfront a self test driven one advertised online(on a budget)

Moreover, I have never used Azimo nor world remit before, if anyone has please let me know as I am skeptical about it. Is it reliable for transactions and how soon does it reflect in the account?

Cheers
Azimo is very good and fast. Hits my account within 5min and rates better than etransfar. I can give you a referral code and you get £10 off if you're interested

Depends on the vehicle, 100K is not necessarily too high in my opinion..........

Depends on how old the car is, if the vehicle is just under 10 years old or hit 10, expect it to have done 100K miles (averagely 10K a year)........

Would you buy a 3 year old Mercedes E class or an Audi A6 with 100K, at a bargain price?

If you see a 10 year old car with 40K miles, it would be way more expensive, than a higher mileage equivalent..... The mileage might be true to form or clocked........

Service history, MOT history check + physical inspection, should ensure you avoid buying a lemon......
as we move into modern climes and people find themselves buying more modern fairly used cars. The excitement blinds you to the sometimes glaring flaws

I understand now. So if a car has a lot of mileage, it would also have an expensive insurance premium. Nawa! All the cheap cars (under 2k5) cars that I want to buy and use to build my insurance in this country are so ugly eh! E be like say na bicycle I go buy last last cry
my old lexus, insurance was like 1,8k+, changed brake calipers 1 side....250, 4 tires....200, A/C not working....didnt bother, disposed before summer. In retrospect, i would have been better off with a VW Golf, would have saved me some money

Is there anything wrong with mileage being more than 100k? Shebi in naija we use to drive cars with 200k mileage and they would be solid?
in Nigeria, if your car breaks down, you have a roadside mechanic and you can sort it out with maybe 5k or 10k....or less. Here, if your brake pad fails, you can spend as much as £250.which is not cost effective if your car is only worth £600! Or the insurance for 1 year worth twice the value of the car. So it becomes a money pit

Adventureous bro, I no like adventure like u ó lol
I did a couple of shifts in Poole, last year and it was very quiet around the hospital where i was. Property very pricey. Few black people, Even KFC staff were mainly Brits. Which isn't bad, but the place was sort of really quiet! Like a retirement town! Went to the lake, nothing to see, High street was like they were on holidays, and low turn out. Heard the harbour is fun to go watching the rich cruising their boats

If Nigerian shops are not available, the Indian's got you covered............

White dominated is good..... I believe you did not travel to the UK to form an èbúté mẹ́tta extension............ grin

Intergration is key..... Even if you have Nigerian's around you on the same street, you might not even relate with each other...........
if you like old white people and keeping them occupied with weather monitoring

Good morning house, am a silent observer of the thread and I must say I have learnt a whole lot from the wealth of experience of the gurus in the house. I will be relocating to Poole, Dorset in a few weeks can anyone give me a review of what the place is like? I learnt it's a white dominated place are there Nigerians there by chance, African shops where I can get Nigerian foods? Thanks in anticipation.
looks like a boring expensive town... Poole abi... Very boring
