Unfortunately, we'll continue to hear this kind of story if Nigeria doesn't restructure - giving birth to resources control. Frankly speaking, the amount each state gets from the FG monthly is too meagre to do anything reasonable. And for states who are still looking for ways to come with sustainable revenue generation, it's not an easy task. If you want to be a 'good' governor who never fails to pay salaries but unable to construct a single kilometre of road, people will still complain. Kogi state for an example will have been competing with the oil producing states like Rivers and Akwa Ibom if the FG allows it to own its mineral resources (Ajaokuta steel alone is worth billions of dollars, but in the hands of the FG). |
Mynd44, pls, your attention is needed here. This threat ought to be closed. |
NaoSlay:I pity your mentions today! ![]() |
Politics of who you know. Kaduna has been enjoying some very good things since Buhari came on board. I know the plan to build these dry ports predated this administration, but why should Kaduna's be the first to be completed? Why not Funtua or Ibadan or Aba? Why should the Kaduna railway also be the first to be completed if not because of Elrufai's closeness to Buhari. I know Amaechi is in charge, but these observations shouldn't be discarded just like that. I mean no harm. |
I think this was already on FP yesterday. But 20MW is too much for another small stuff I'm seeing there. Could it be 2MW or even less? |
This is one of the mistakes 'religious' people keep on making: always using 'God says' in their relationship matters to blind the other person from being able to protest. (I'm referring to the guys.) When initiating a relationship, "God say", when ending it, "God says" .I'm unable to say more than this; wish I can. |
OK |
horsepower101:OK |
horsepower101:Kanu put himself in harm's way. He should have ran out of Abia when Python Dance began. Sometimes, running away is not a sign of weakness. Remember "He who fought and run away [b] lives [b] to fight another day" ? Or you did not know that Tinubu had to escape during the military junta? And Dele Momodu? And a host of others. Because they know that the life of the leader a group is the first source of strength to that group. |
horsepower101:Yes, Jonathan's government should have arrested some people whose utterances were a threat to the security of Nigeria, but he was too cool for that, unfortunately. If I were the president, FFK would have been arrested when he threatened to form a parallel govt, and Amaechi who also said the same thing later on. And el-Rufai who was constantly accusing GEJ of sponsoring BH without any evidence. |
Lol |
horsepower101:Insulting the president is different from vowing to go back with president's head from Abuja. That was what Kanu said. There's always a limit to what you can say - riding on freedom of speech. Even in the US (from the so many news stories I've read), people have been sentenced to long jail terms for ordinary social media posts. And many people have been arrested and .... for threatening the president. Check Google. |
The killings were unfortunate, but let's stop sensational headlines. From that picture, I can see the governor also shining his teeth. It takes two people to Fulani's way of life is to attack even when you haven't provoked them - as a way of registering their fear into your heart. Benue people must show them that they're twice as tough as they, Fulanis, claim to be. It's that anti grazing bill they want the govt to repeal. I'm still surprised no south eastern/south state has had the guts to do same. Very disappointing. |
It's very clear Kanu is no longer alive. It breaks my heart that he killed himself for nothing. If he'd applied some discretion he would have continued to be a voice here in Nigeria, but he lacked tact and wisdom. He boasted he'd "bring" the president's head - and that sealed his fate. That statement alone is tantamount to attempting a coup which carries the death penalty. |
Disappointing |
babadee1:That's very bad. But a year ago or thereabouts I read about a particular one that would be completed by 2023. I think that Tinubu's own is different. |
I hope he doesn't become like Buhari who had a similar "12-years-after" experience, but has now largely squandered the popular goodwill he enjoyed from the majority. |
Ambode is a stellar 'performer', no doubt. The only thing that can top it all is for Lagos to become the first State to generate its own power independent of the FG - during his tenure. I know that plan is already in the works. |
That's fine. One of Nigerians' major problems is the like for free things. If possible, we'd rejoice if the FG announces that petrol has become free, Internet services are now being paid for by the FG, toll gate has been abolished and a host of others. But the bad news is that the monies that should have been spent on infrastructure development such as rail services, power, education, public housing, opening governmentowned industries - would go into catering for all of these personal inanities. At the end, we lose. ![]() |

AuroraB:I'll edit it right away. |
AuroraB:Aunty, you quoted him twice. Delete that one containing "~~~~~". ![]() |
anonimi:Alright, you have a point, but NASS doesn't have to wait for him. |
I don't think Buhari ever said he's against restructuring, he has always said such should be initiated by the national assembly not a team of randomly hand-picked people who came with the 2014 restructuring document. If NASS deems it fit to pass that document into law today, Buhari has no power than to either sign it or decline assent, after which it becomes a law after 30 days. Or am I missing something? |
It's very clear this guy's wife is to blame, if all that the OP said is undiluted truth. The lady is definitely a cheat. morgan844:I'd say this: Men! Men! Men! Never sponsor your fiance through school. Marry her instead before she starts schooling. Thank me later. |
reminiscing:You're wise joh. He's actually the one, not a friend. |
Let me stay by the sidelines and learn. ![]() |

189 non-existent groups. They should have just say that 189 countries have endorsed him. Or that the UN has mandated that he be elected non-opposed. |
