Chief Okoro-Emegha said he was in talk with one of the House of Representatives members which will lead to his defection to the APC in few weeks time. Emegha who refused to mention a particular federal lawmaker that will soon join the party, opined that his discussed with the House of Representatives member, has gone far which will manifest in his defection to the APC. The Chairman stated this in Abakaliki, the state capital while reacting to coalition of opposition parties against APC at the national level which he said has no effect on the party at the both state and national levels. “So far coalition of political parties is concerned, nobody should panic. APC is on course and Mr. President is trying to fix the things that have taken decades to fix and I believe very strongly that Mr. President in partnership with Governors of states are working very hard to ensure that Nigeria competes favorably with other countries of the world. “By few weeks now, you will see another National Assembly members defecting to join me in APC and that is how prepared we are, its just simple. You know that they were up to four and one house of Assembly is now remaining in opposition and he is working very close with us but something is just holding him down. “The member representing Ezza North/Ishielu federal constituency was in opposition(APGA) and he joined us in APC few weeks ago and I am still talking with the remaining two National Assembly members in opposition; PDP and LP. “So, in few weeks now, it might not be up to two weeks, you will see another House of Reps member joining APC here in Ebonyi. So, that is how prepared I am against 2027. You will be surprised what will happen in few weeks now”, he said..

The Nwabueze: Couple in love with charity ...Tilova for Africa empowering indigent Nigerians It was Mark Twain, who said: "Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see." Mother Theresa added: "It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving." For John Bunyan, "you have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you." Similarly, Mahatma Gandhi noted: "The simplest acts of kindness are by far more powerful than a thousand heads bowing in prayer." These expressions certainly ring true for Mr. Martin Nwabueze and his wife, Dr. Chisom Nwabueze. Indeed, the couple is on the same page with John Wesley, who advocated: "Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can." Over the years, they have been involved in an organization performing life-changing work in Africa, starting in Nigeria, on issues like poverty, education and HIV/AIDS, among others. Martin and Chisom, who are both pharmacists, with many years of practice experience in the United States, are the founders of Tilova for Africa, a non-profit, non-governmental charity organization. It has its headquarters in New Hampshire, USA. Martin and Chisom have a wide range of experience of years of charitable work both in USA and abroad as donors to various charitable endeavours and as volunteers helping in one way or another to bring positive change in different communities. As African migrants, the couple feels blessed for the opportunity the United States has given to them but never forgets their root and the suffering and tribulations of those in Africa that are not as lucky. Their desire to lend a helping hand to the less privileged in Africa and the unfortunate killing of a dear friend in South Africa for his sex preferences were the driving forces that ultimately led to the birth of this charity organization. Martin disclosed that as founders, the couple has worked over the years to assemble a team of more than 500 volunteers of different nationalities spread across Africa and the United States comprising of human rights activists, doctors, country experts, lawyers, journalists, donors and others who work to protect and assist the neediest in Africa such as the vulnerable minorities, the hunger stricken, the sick and homeless as well as children in need. Martin said: "At Tilova for Africa, we direct our advocacy towards governments, religious groups and businesses in Africa, pushing them to change or enforce their laws, policies and practices to protect the fundamental human rights of marginalized minorities and the downtrodden. "We also gather a coalition of kindhearted willing donors that donate to guarantee that our objectives with regards to poverty alleviation, educational empowerment, health care services and other advocacies are met. To ensure our fairness and build trust, we review all donations to ensure that they are consistent with our policies, mission, and values to ultimately guarantee that every donation is directed towards a just cause and in accordance with the wishes of donors. "Our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly in our resolve and the actions of our services and initiatives. From the moment we started, we understood that by working together, little efforts could synergize to overcome big challenges much more efficiently, which is why we plead with all people of good conscience to join us as we strive to make a positive change in all of our pursuits so that little by little, through our collective efforts we shall all play a part in making the world a better place." Maintaining that the charity arm of Tilova for Africa is the most important and active, Martin explained: "We are disbursing funds to those that need them directly through our website and on social media. We are also working with other NGOs based in Africa for more efficiency. Funding is very important to our work and currently our funding comes from our personal contributions and contributions from kind donors. As we expand we hope to get funding from the government and organizations too."

The community youths in the petition accused four individual of colluding with the foreign company to conduct unauthorized underground mining on sacred community land, including the revered ancestral shrine located in Ugwogo Forest. The petition, signed by the Youth President, Mr. Ogbuinya Livinus, alleged that the mining activities are illegal and in violation of the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act 2007, particularly Section 61. The noted that the law mandates an environmental impact assessments report, community engagement, and federal certification before any such activity can begin. According to them, nonoe of these requirements were met by the company before embarking in the alleged illegal mining. “The shrine has been our ancestral deity since centuries ago,” the petition reads. “Its desecration by this Chinese firm and their local accomplices is not only a cultural affront but also a spiritual violation. "The underground mining poses serious environmental risks including potential tunnel collapse, land subsidence, and even earthquake-like consequences.”, the said. In a disturbing twist, the petitioners alleged that the Chinese company, in collaboration with the aforementioned individuals, has begun arresting and harassing community youths who have peacefully resisted the unauthorized mining. The youths further revealed that no license was granted to the Chinese firm for underground mining on the disputed land. According to them, the original leaseholder, Royal Salt Limited, which was officially granted mining rights over the land, has distanced itself from the Chinese firm's operations. "Royal Salt has categorically denied granting any license or permission to the Chinese company to enter the land, much less mine it," the petition noted. The situation, the petitioners claimed, is further compounded by the fact that the Chinese company has gone far beyond any designated mining boundaries. They alleged that the firm is now digging dangerously close to the Royal Salt mining dump, a development they warned could have catastrophic consequences. “They are digging deeper than they were ever permitted and heading towards the Royal Salt mining dump. "This reckless activity could trigger seismic tremors, cause collapses and endanger lives. If the heavy rains persist, the village could witness a disaster of unimaginable scale,” the petition warned. The community called on Governor Nwifuru to issue an immediate executive order halting the illegal operations and to launch a full-scale investigation into the involvement of the Chinese firm and its local collaborators. “We are still holding our peace in respect of your peace initiative in Ebonyi State through your People's Charter of Needs. But we urge You to act now before it's too late.”, the petitioners concluded. Ends |

Group urges FG to prioritize Education at all levels A Non-governmental Organization under the aegis of 'One Youth Global' has urged the Federal Government to intensify advocacy on educational development across states in Nigeria. The group called on the President and State governors in Nigeria to take bold steps in tackling over twenty million children who are out of school in the country. The President of the Organization, Mr Uchechukwu Agbo made the call while addressing newsmen shortly after the grand finale of the 'Spark Nation' debate and quiz competition, held at the Osborne hotel Abakaliki. Agbo who decried the deteriorating state of primary and secondary education in the country, urged the federal and state governments to deepen development in the sector. The national debate and quiz competition was organized in partnership with Benjamin Voth, who is a professor of Rhetoric at Southern Methodist University and Member of Board of Directors and Lead Debate Instructor at One Youth Global. He noted that the selection for the participants for the debate and quiz competition involves schools across states in the country. "There are schools from Lagos, Adamawa, Enugu, Imo, Rivers states among others. "We are worried about the deteriorating state of federal and state owned primary and secondary schools in the country. "Our initiative is to support and provide a platform for students to showcase their academic abilities and build confidence," he stated. Mr Samson Amulu, Boot Camp Director of the "Spark Nation" debate and quiz competition said the initiative was aimed at fostering critical thinking, public speaking, and leadership skills among secondary school students in Ebonyi and Nigeria at large. According to Amulu, the programme has expanded to include schools across states in the country. "The state of our school children is worrisome. According to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), about 20 million children are out of school in Nigeria. "So, this has been an amazing 7-day camp programme. We started on June 15 and we visited communities in the 13 Ebonyi local government areas. The grand finale is today, June 21 in Abakaliki. "The winners for the debate and quiz competition have been given N1 million each and an opportunity to travel to California, USA," the Camp Director explained. One of the speakers in the quiz and competition program, Chinedu Ugbah said that teachers and instructors in various schools in Nigeria should be well remunerated to spur them, increase their efforts and courage to bring in their ingenuity in the training of the pupils. "We discovered that most of the students are no longer interested in education, some of them even have the slogan they say "Education is a scam" maybe because of what they are seeing. "Many of them are graduates and they didn't have any job. which shows an indictment on the side of the government, maybe because of government policies, bad economy and so many other factors. GMPC marks 12th anniversary As Elijah hits bull’s eye again For members of Glorious Mount Of Possibility Church, Ojo Alaba, Lagos, their friends and well-wishers, last Sunday was a special day, a day not to be forgotten in a hurry. That day, the church celebrated its 12th anniversary with verve, vivacity and vigour. On the special occasion, the congregation adorned resplendent attires and the hall was beautifully decorated. Of course, there was thanksgiving service and musical performances in celebration of Jesus Christ, who is the author and finisher of the faith professed. Instructively, the ceremony coincided with the manifestation of the prophecy of the general overseer of the church, Prophet David Kingleo Elijah. He had prophecied about the military confrontation between Israel and Iran, resulting in the killing of several nuclear scientists and high-ranking military leaders of Iran. Elijah, who is regarded as a major prophet, had said: “The Lord said I should pass a message to the people of Iran. They should enter into peace because a very terrible issue is about to take place in the realm of the spirit. What I am seeing is that top leaders of Iran are all eliminated. This is inevitable.” Indeed, Elijah is known for making prophecies that resonate with events just as in the days of the Bible. He makes tangible, exact and precise prophecies. The prophecy about the destruction of Iran`s Natanz nuclear facility and the killing of her top military chiefs is just one of such. Indeed, Elijah is known for making prophecies that resonate with events just as in the days of the Bible. He makes tangible, exact and precise prophecies. The prophecy about the destruction of Iran`s Natanz nuclear facility and the killing of her top military chiefs is just one of such. prophesied that Bola Ahmed Tinubu will take over from President Muhammad Buhari. He also prophesied about Donald Trump’s electoral victory in America. On the secret of his accurate prophecies, Elijah told Daily Sun: “The accurate prophecies that we give out, by the grace of God, did not start today. We’ve been doing that since God called me into ministry. I was the person that gave the prophecy about Goodluck Jonathan becoming President when he was still a deputy governor of Bayelsa State. I said that he would move from deputy governor to governor and then the President. And it came to pass. He also gave the prophecy of the outcome of the 2015 general election and it came to pass. I told the people in the Church that Muhammadu Buhari was going to be declared winner in that election. I have been giving prophecies from the beginning of the ministry. It is just that my prophecies last year and this year got more attention because of our Possibility TV that became popular and the Glorious Mount of Possibility page. With these platforms, people were able to see when the prophecies were made live. "I gave the prophecy about Barack Obama becoming the first black man to become president in America. I gave the prophecy of the victory of Donald Trump as well as the ill- fated attempt to impeach him". “I gave the prophecy about a sitting governor to be removed and replaced, which was Emeka Ihedioha. When it was time for the governorship election in Edo State, I told the world that Godwin Obaseki was going to win. “I told the people the scenarios that would play out. Even in 2019 general election, I gave prophecies for all the states and they all came to pass. I said that Rotimi Akeredolu of the APC would win the governorship election in Ondo State. These are not done in the physical. They are done in the realm of the spirit because it is God that gives gifts and the gift of God is free. It is not because of my good work that made God to put the gift in me. It is something that pleases God and He decided to use a common person like me to show his glory, to prove to the world that God is not mute. “God is still speaking even till tomorrow. So, it’s not something I do in the physical. It is the spirit of God that opens my spirit to communicate it to humanity. That is why whenever it is said, it becomes accurate prophecy and sure Word of God. Thank God that today technology has gone very far; technology has made it possible to monitor and ascertain the day anything was said, recorded and posted. People go to the Internet and watch the things I prophesied over 13 years ago. So, we give God glory for the uncommon gift.”

DUFUHS VC, Prof Uneke flags EQUI- RESP AFRICA RESEARCH PROJECT in Ebonyi By David Uka The Vice Chancellor of David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences, (DUFUHS) Uburu, Ebonyi State, Professor Jesse Uneke has flagged off "The Equity Africa Research Project" in Ebonyi aimed at improving equity in respiratory disease outcomes in Africa using data-driven tools. The VC who flaged-off the project at the Institute of Child Health (ICH) in Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki (AE-FUTHA), described respiratory diseases as the cause of acute and chronic morbidity and mortality in Africa. Uneke who is the state lead/principal investigator on improving equity in respiratory disease outcomes using data -driven tools in five African countries including, Nigeria, Kenya, Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, and South Africa, said respiratory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia in children and adults, asthma, and lung cancer were prevalent in the region. He said Ebonyi and Lagos states were the only states selected for the project in Nigeria. Uneke observed that there was limited health systems' capacity for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of the respiratory diseases and large inequities in the outcomes of the diseases. "It is well established that respiratory diseases, such as chronic obstrutive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia in children and adults, asthma, and lung cancer, are all prevalent in Nigeria as in the remaining four target African countries. "Although these respiratory diseases cause a very large burden of both acute and chronic morbidity, as well as mortality in Nigeria, there is limited health systems' capacity for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. "Furthermore, there are large inequities in the outcomes of these diseases. They are worst among the poor, who do not have access to affordable and quality healthcare", he said. He noted that project will provide some critical equipment for the use in the detection/diagnosis of some respiratory diseases and also provide free treatment to up to 1000 patients across the six target health facilities in Ebonyi State within the four-years duration of the project. "In this effort, we will harness a large body of work that has already been invested in the development, validation, implementation and training for the use of the tools such as Equitable Impact Sensitive Tool (EQUIST) and the Child Health and Nutrition Research Initiative (CHNRI) method. "We will also pilot and validate the "Pathways to Survival" (PATHS) tool, a novel tool based on decision science, that identifies key bottlenecks in intervention delivery. "The goal is to achieve demonstrable and equitable reductions in morbidity and mortality from respiratory diseases through improvements in interventions and policies derived from data-driven tools", the Vice Chancellor said. In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director of Alex-Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital (AE-FUTHA), Abakaliki, Professor Robinson Onoh said the research project focuses on improving the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and intervention strategies for respiratory diseases using evidence-based approaches. “Today, history is made because we are involved in a global, multi-country research project that will place us on the global map,” Onoh stated. He reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of the project, adding that AE-FUTHA is one of the few teaching hospitals in Nigeria actively participating in vaccine trial research. Sallah :Umahi commends Tinubu's commitment to inter religious harmony, national integration in Nigeria Minister of Works and former Governor of Ebonyi State, Senator David Umahi, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment of fostering national integration and nter religious harmony in the country . Speaking at the 2025 Sallah celebration organized for the Muslim community in Abakaliki, Umahi highlighted the administration’s religious and ethnic inclusiveness, which he said has reached an "excellent level." “The relationship between faiths in Nigeria is much better now. It surprised many Christians when the President led a Nigerian delegation to the Pope’s inauguration. That was very unique and historic,” Umahi said, describing the gesture as a symbol of genuine respect for all faiths. The Minister emphasized that the foundation of all religions is love, urging Nigerians to focus on common values rather than differences. “We all serve one God in different ways. Both Muslims and Christians preach love and the fear of God,” he stated. Addressing concerns over the initial Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket, Umahi cited religious balance in federal appointments as a significant indicator of inclusiveness. “Christians currently hold about 62% of appointments under President Tinubu, while Muslims hold about 38%. That shows national cohesion in practice,” he explained. Umahi pointed to growing interreligious collaboration in the Southeast, noting Christian participation in Muslim festivities as a sign of deepening unity. While the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) received late notice for the event, several Christian leaders—including Southeast CAN Chairman, Rev. Fr. Abraham Nwali—attended in solidarity. Shifting to infrastructure, the Minister credited Tinubu with reversing years of federal neglect in the Southeast. “Before now, many Southeast states had no federal projects. But today, the federal presence is visible across the region. That is true national integration,” Umahi said. He applauded the President for appointing Southeast natives to top positions—including himself as Minister of Works, the Chief of Naval Staff, and the Minister of Science and Technology—describing them as meaningful steps toward reintegrating the region into national governance. “We lost political ground in the past, but this government is bringing us back. It’s not yet perfect, but we are no longer left behind. We must acknowledge that and support the President,” Umahi urged. He called on the people of the Southeast to reject divisive narratives and focus instead on constructive engagement with the federal government. “The Southeast must count one before counting two. We need reintegration, not isolation. President Tinubu has started this process—we must not waste the opportunity,” he said. Reaffirming his loyalty to President Tinubu, Umahi commended the President’s unwavering support for the Ministry of Works, calling it a reflection of sincere national leadership. “If you betray such a man, you betray God and Nigeria. I serve both God and the President with the fear of God,” he declared. Muslim community leaders in Ebonyi, including Sariki Danjuma Gambo and Salis Mohammed, echoed Umahi’s sentiments, commending the peaceful coexistence on display and pledging their full support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid in the 2027 elections.
