NuCypher: For me, it was during an interview. I was interviewing for a role in the company before a panel of like 4 people. One of the persons was a little too aggressive with me. At some point, I went over time in answering a particular technical question, but quickly cut myself off once I realized it. That was towards the end of the interview. As we were saying our goodbyes, the aggressive lady made a very weird face and dropped off the call in the middle of my talking. Omo, it was at that point I realized this is not a place I want to work. At least this one person cannot even try to be professional in the discharge of their interview role and needed to bully a prospective employee. I knew right at that instant that I wasn't interested in the role anymore and wouldn't pursue it. Fortunately or unfortunately, they never reached out for a follow-up. Me sef, I was like, that's even better. Save me the stress. Months later, they sent me an email to say the role has opened up again and asked if I was interested in applying. I didn't even respond to their email. From the outside it looked like a nice place to work, but with my experience during that interview, it's not the place for me. I have kind of experience this kind thing...nice edifice building but bad character of people working there |

Exousiang01: Like I said earlier, the oro festival is an ancient festival, the festival which is annual has been there lonf before those business came, if you are not comfortable with the festival you shouldn't have sitted your business there.
Like I said earlier, every part of this country has its own, why should the Ikorodu people give up their culture just because their community is developed, why should should I give up my culture because an easterner came to town or a northerner came to town.
I think you seems not understand my intake on this issues.
Like I said earlier, I'm not against the oro festival..
My major concern is doing the oro in the afternoon where business transactions should be going on .
Traditionally, oro festival is very sacred dat why it's been done at night when people are already fast asleep .
Doing oro in the afternoon not only jeopardize people productivity time, but to me it is not sacred any more because they are some people who will be tempted to peep from their windows if the stuff is going on.
My last take is that oro festival should be done at night not in the afternoon when Nigerian should doing their business.
In my place if you disregard my customes i will be among to youths to deal with you. If you were in your place how would you feel of some folks say they will disregard Oro festival be it day or night.
I still maintain that everyone should respect the customs and culture of their host, we all have similar customes in each of our villages, we wont find its funny if some stranger comes to disrespect the ways of our ancestors |
Culture › Re: Oro Festival: Ikorodu Warns Females To Stay Indoors On May 16 by Daviestunech(m): 12:54am On May 16, 2024 |
Exousiang01: They have a right to practice that within their jurisdiction.
We have a similar thing in my place, I wont be happy if you come to my place and disrespect the ways of my ancestors in the name of civilisation. I wont advice anyone to disrespect another mans way of life.
If you no like their tradition comot from their land.... Simple
We are Africans, we were Africans before the white man came. No matter how you try to adapt the white mans ways of life, the white man will still identify you as an African, you will never be called a European, if you think I am lying ask the African-Americans, notice that the word "African" came first.....
Being an African with a white mans culture is like a lion who barks. You lost your identity, you lost your whole point of being. A man without identity is a man who does not exist Oga but this people wahala are getting too much. I'm a core Yoruba man from osun state. At least from my experience oro is done in the midnight where everyone is already at their respective homes . Why doing oro in the afternoon when every good Nigerian citizens should be productive or selling their markets. How do I come about this? They are currently doing this oro of a stuff at my area now which will last for 9days both in afternoon (11-1)And night My major concern is by disturbing people business by conducting oro in the afternoon instead of in the midnight when everyone is already at home. |

Rubyjade: Let me share mine;
I went as far as even giving testimony in church not knowing it was one chance I entered. Out over 134 candidates I was amongst the two applicants that got the job.
First day, introduction to the team and the office. Few minutes later 😉 staff meeting, the AC wan freeze me, all staff with smiling face not knowing it was part of their responsibility to make the new staff think it all rosey. 🤔
Secondary day, I didn't clock in, a mail was sent that it would be deducted from my pay, ah! Without no notifications ❌ 😔
Third day, I saw the boss shouting with careless abandon towards a staff, kini eleyi bayi?
Fourth day, there was a sent forth for a staff, I 🤔
Fifth day, I heard a loud slap, I had to ask the receptionist and she told me. It was a slap by the boss to someone
Day six, it was already passed the closing time and you expect me to say at least for a minutes behind, yet I cannot come in late irrespective of the circumstances
Day 7, I was on my way home this is 23 minutes past five, that I should submit a report before 6:00pm same day 🥺
I believe that as a person working in a place, the employer should have empathy on an employee But alas, that's not what I got, in sickness I worked, the insults, like no tomorrow all for peanuts. I just stylishly left the place. Nobody stay there for more than 3 months. |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: What's Your Experience Like In The Labor Market? by Daviestunech(m): 6:06pm On Mar 05, 2024 |
Well I graduated 2019 went for service 2021 after COVID then finished 2022. I set up my CV and I started applying, luckily I got an offer and my salary was 65k. Though you are entitled to some targeted bonuses which I was paid all even when I left. It was a retail company into sanitary wears . And mind you I was the only Yoruba guy amongst them because it was company owned by an igbo business man. I worked there for 9 months and left because no career prospects and no time for myself. Not up to a month I got another job on the island(Osborne) as a logistics analyst which my salary was 110k and I got promoted barely 4 months I started to 130k. This was my best job offer I was delighted I got it. Because the work was very flexible I only go to work 3days in a week my director is a Yankee guy. The work was so flexible And I love it because I can literally work anywhere. I also made some some cash outside my salary despite it's a cooperate organization. Some of the cash I made then was used to repair my car hoping I won't b jumping from bus to bus again I go just dey drive my car to work since it's just 3days in a week. Unfortunately my job got terminated last month... which I felt really bad because I was thinking will I ever get a job like this again What happened?....well it's was my line manager,I don't know what got into her, though we had an issue, went to report me to our director that I wasn't doing my work well.. Although she didn't know our director will take that harsh decision of sacking me. I apologize to my director , omo this man no gree (ondo people and stubborness sha) Before u know it I got terminated ooo after working for this company for 6months. Mind you when I started, I was told I will b promoted after 6 months, and it's was this my line manager that even asked our director to increased my salary barely 4 months I started. I left February 12.... I started applying again before ending last month I got another offer again as an inventory executive..my salary was 170k at lekki. I was told my resumption time will be 8am- 5pm Monday - Saturday no public holiday I accepted the offer I resumed last week Friday. I got to their branch at ikoyi I already did some of my documentation with them. The hr now told me some policy the company has about issues of lateness ND all that my resumption time is 8am ND if I'm not at the office by that time, 3k will be deducted from my salary ND so on. And I already planned to stay on the island with someone already which didn't work out. I had to go to the hr office ND discuss with her about my new challenges concerning the person I wanted to stay with which didn't work out again. Although I didn't meet her but her assistant was there and I had to tell her ..but if the company can provide accomodation even though I will be paying I won't mind. Because my proximity to lekki from ijegun, I can't make it exactly 8am. Naso I left last week Friday till today I didn't hear anything from them again. Anyway I'm back to my online course till another opportunities comes by again. |

Jewessgratitud3: Hmmm... The working condition is so harsh. How can they say theyll remove 3k for lateness knowing it impossible to meet up considering your location? That's wickedness.
It means You have to be waking up by 4:30. am hmmm.. Seriously!! I already told them I can't make it without accomodation |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: There's Is Life Outside Work by Daviestunech(m): 2:10pm On Mar 02, 2024 |
Jewessgratitud3: This was exactly the same reason I stopped working on the island.
I'll get to office by latest 8am from mainland to island everyday and close late because as a secretary now you no fit go when chairman still dey office. Even with staff bus, we'll sit in third mainland traffic jam till all my legs and feet are swollen. You'll get home exhausted and useless to yourself.
I couldn't even meet up for weekly church activities. I told God see o it's the nature of my job that is affecting my service to you and started praying for a change of career that will give me time to serve God and give me time for myself.
God led me into teaching line and from there I did a partime program on phonetics and diction courses (, I originally studied office management/ secretarial studies) . After I completed the programme, I left full time teaching and took up partime jobs. Now before 12pm I'm done. I resume 9 am and Latest 1pm Ive closed for the day. Rest well and go for my weekly activities because I'm a chorister so I have to be in church to take praise and worship before sermon commences.
There's Life after work and all employers should know this and give their staff time to rest and recoup energy for the next days work. Stress and exhaustion from work kills.
Body no be firewood Quite unfortunate. Infact I just got a job on the island lekki to be precise . I was told I will resume 8am ND close 5pm though I might work beyond that time in some cases. Though the salary is better I discussed with my friend if I can stay with him on the island and he gave me assurance . I resumed yesterday at their branch at Glover road ikoyi The hr explain somethings to me about lateness that 3k will b deducted if I come late ND so on. Unfortunately my friend texted me that I can't stay again at his place because it was his company that provided the lodge and they won't allow another person to stay with him. And mind you I stay on the mainland which I can't make it to lekki exactly 8am but 9am is still ok. Moreover,I already packed my belongings inside my brother's car which I drove to ikoyi yesterday thinking after closing I will just drive down to my friend's place and return my brother's car on Sunday. Immediately I got the update I went to the hr office yesterday and wanted to tell her the new challenges I'm having but she wasn't around I had to tell her assistant. And if possible the organization has accomodation they can provide they should let me know. Naso I left yesterday ooo. Till now I haven't heard anything from them and no pressure about it. Even though I have done all my documentation with them yesterday. I can't kill myself 8am to 5pm Monday till Saturday No public holiday |

How Nigeria made South African keeper so ordinary . Common sense shows that the keeper is good when ball is placed on thst direction ...when placed on the middle he misses it . They would ve used there common sense . Common sense is the reason why Nigeria is in the finals Bro...if really follow the pk the players actually got the logic...but is that captain that just didn't follow the way others have been playing it. |
