Best way to write this letter is by putting yourself in the position of that immigration officer who have absolutely no prior knowledge of you or your circumstances. but also have 100’s of other applications to go through at the same time as yours. This letter should not be bulky if u really want your case officer to read it. 3-4 pages max is enough

Despite the great importance of a cover letter in any visa application, there’s no known template or format for it. Which means it doesn’t matter how It’s written as long as the message is delivered.

Cover letters are unique to each individual and visa types. BUT all cover letter must contains most of the following information.


Your cover letter must be able to;

1. Introduce you to the immigration officer (Name, passport number and Nationality), what you do and your socio-economy status.
2. Link together every other evidences or documents you’ve supplied
3. Your plans, duration and purpose for visit
4. Values or benefits the traveling will add to your personal life or business if granted visa.


Also, I usually recommend that people include a “Table Of Content” to their application especially if it’s a paper application. It’s the best way to tell the case officer what documents you’ve included in the application. So even if they miss anything the first time, the table of contents will remind them.

Lastly, Emotions is the only one thing that’s the same all over the world. So despite colour, race or status we all have emotions. Show a little bit of emotion/vulnerability towards the end of your letter. I mean just a “little bit” to show what the visa actually means to you but not in a desperate way and how u will “Never” break the conditions of your visa if it’s granted. This has worked for me many times.

Why would anybody apply for a visa without a cover letter explaining their circumstances even if it wasn’t asked for.

Please i need advise from pension experts. I was working with a private contract-based firm until March 2019 when the company became redundant (the company went out of business as it's sole contract with a client firm was terminated). Now the issue is that my former company deducted about 10 months pension contributions from our salaries but failed to remit it to our PFAs. Before the redundancy, we asked severally about the deductions and they promised to pay. Out of fear of job loss, i and my colleagues didn't write pencom.

Now, the company is out of business, and our pension deductions were not paid as they promised. I s there something that Pencom can still do to make them pay? Or should we forget the money? It's painful how employers are exploiting employees at any given chance because there are little jobs out there.

Funny enough, the owners of the company secured another contract with another client firm in a different region of the country and registered a new company to undertake the operations of the new contract. Isn't that corporate yahoo yahoo?

Can something still be done to get our money?

No it’s never deliberate to deny anyone a visa.
This is how it works ....Each immigration officer is trained to use their discretion to judge each application. However there’s a list of eligibility criteria that needs to be ticked on paper by the case officer before any visa is granted. This eligibility criteria is further checked by a supervisor or senior staff to make sure every case officer do not miss any information and have made the right decision on each application.

The burden of proof is on the applicant to make sure the case officer is provided with every necessary document and information. The list of this eligibility criteria is not confidential. You can easily find them on the immigration site if u search enough. It’s a very open process.

If you’re applying for a temporary entry visa ( visitor, tourist, work etc), the immigration officer is “ not obligated” to ask u for any missing piece or pieces in ur application. They have every right to deny it first time. And u cannot appeal or demand any further explanation.

However if it’s a permanent visa category like a resident visa application, the immigration officer is “obligated” to inform the applicant through a letter called “Potentially prejudicial information” PPI Letter, before making the final decision on the application. This letter allows u to clarify whatever doubt they have or provide any missing piece. Even if this category of visa is denied and u think it has been done in error or unjustly, u can appeal the results or even petition the immigration minister.

If a case officer have concerns but you’ve provided enough documents for him to tick all the boxes on their paper and make s/he job easy, you will still probably get the visa in most cases.
If your motive and intentions are genuine and crystal clear to the case officer but unfortunately s/he can’t tick all the eligibility criteria boxes on the paper, the visa will be declined.
Except the case officer is in a very good mood or maybe just a very nice and patient person and s/he is willing to help then they can communicate the missing piece/s.

nawa oh, not good at all... this is not in there nature to turn down application without asking for what is not included in the application. unless they have changed. 2015 when i visited Auckland, the person handling my visa application called me when ever she needs clarifications, she also send mail afterwords. Just re-apply my brother.
