Good afternoon all. Got Code P0172 on my wife's 2005 Honda Element. I'm thinking what could be the cause Element 2005 doesn't use MAF sensor Fuel pump pressure checked. Two sensors excellent based on readings, No exhaust leak, no misfire . Just thinking how this can be fixed |

xkunzo:May be yours or they had a doubt. My visa application was submitted on a Monday 28/9/15 and Visa was out Friday 2/10/15. Note 1/10/15 was even a public Holiday. They couldn't have confirmed my 3 bank statements in less than 2 days |
Unfortunately, it is the truth |
Nigeria bloggers are confused. This man is different from the man that works for Premiumtimes that was arrested recently, but would always link the two together |
It is so so wrong |
So how do you tell if your vehicle's catalytic converter, or "cat" as gearheads sometimes refer to it, is out of whack? And when should you count on having to replace it?So, when you buy Tokunbo, that's its over 100k miles as its often done in Nigeria, how will the converter perform? Just trying to compare used with new |

Hello my people long time Dmerciful Oga Niyi Pranil Everyone else. I want to ask a question. In one of our stations, that's 100% solar powered. We have about 2kva left as balance and a woman wants to rent a space as salon. The engineers have said we can't do above 2kva or 2000watts, which would include a low voltage AC. She sends this Hair dryer 1200watts Steamer 1200 Watts Water heater 1500watts Hand dryer 1000 Watts Flat iron 35watts Curling iron 30watts Hot comb 38 Watts Which I'm sure we can't do. Can you suggest equipment that can fall within the 2000 watts? Thanks |
Piyke:I wouldn't lie. I've been doing that for about 2 years now. My thinking is that buy new, since you don't know the mileage on the tokunbo you're buying |
luvinhubby:Baba. I no mind oo. Na you dey sell engine, I for don call Roland tire or send Mike to your shop. We thank God oo |
mayor2013:I forgot to add that part. The black smoke that came out of the exhaust was as thick as burning tires See the two converter assemblies. The first is the blocked one, the other is the replacement, which was fixed into the car now

dreaonit:Not sure. When I traveled to Tokyo in 2015, my visa came out within 10 days. Not sure they bothered with Zenith bank or Diamond bank back then. It takes about 2 weeks for such confirmation. |
What a life transforming impartation So today my #MCM goes to no other but my Boss, my Friend and my Mentor Dr. Olakunle Churchill. You have imparted skills in me that has changed my career and also the way I see and take life |
GAZZUZZ:By December, 2018 I refresh this post for you. If your prophesy fails, you owe me a launch at a nice restaurant in Wentworthville (NSW). They have a very nice club in that part of NSW. I enjoyed my 10 days stay last September ![]() If others, I'll call you a master GAZZUZZ:Yes I agree on this. It is my error allowing him to have his way despite my experience in engineering and knowledge garnered on usage of cars. Poo does happen and we make mistakes to learn |
GAZZUZZ:Thanks bro. To clear your doubt, you can bring the best Scanner in the world and pay us a visit (will send you address via PM and pay for logistics )Sometimes, we just need to pay attention to very very little details and not pulling down a whole building in an attempt to kill a rat ![]() |
mayor2013:Thanks Mayor2013. That your single response saved the day. You said return back to 02. We did and no stories. We couold have thought it was ECM, fuel pump, spark plugs, injector throttle body etc A quick update. Car is back to 100% efficiency and Performance. How did we do it? It was simple and straight forward. The panel beater pulled out a sensor and blocked the sensor inlet. 5 mins after, car started misfiring. This morning, removed the catalytic converter assembly from the manifold, started the car, rev up to 3000, inserted a different catalytic converter assembly, inserted the upstream and downstream sensor, started the car, all misfiring and 02 sensor code disappered. car has driving 15 miles from Ikeja down to Ikoyi, No single is back as at yet, and it was confortably doing 120kmph this afternoon, without hesitation. Recall. new fuel pump from Ebay/china new set of plugs from Ebay/china new set of injectors from Ebay/china new 02 sensors from Ebay/china |
luvinhubby:Not at all. Issue beyond sensor now, but praying engine not damaged. If engine goes, I'm sure you'll be happy to have us as guests ![]() But God forbid under Buhari. Babu changi |
Piyke:Lol. Afi shenzu ![]() |
mayor2013:Thanks so much. Just spoke to my mechanic, the conclusion is that the engine can't breathe property, hence the very poor idling and black soot. First tomorrow is to look for another shell, and put in back the factory exhaust, with or without the catalytic converter, for us to see the condition of the engine. If the engine idles well, then we can breathe a sigh of relief. Lesson has been learned. Honda is different from Toyota. If sensor is bad, just leave it there, rather than trying to be wise See below the image of the catalytic converter assembly. The downstream sensor is to be placed in the opening directly on the converter, whilst the upstream is the one on the long pipe to be connected to the manifold. The thread of the upstream sensor was the one damaged and the panel beater chose to seal up until we get another sensor and rethread the hole. The next was the black soot and the car was driven 14 miles after after the seal up. I just pray the engine is not damaged due to the 14 miles drive

mayor2013:Thank you very much for the straight forward response. My key question was, 'can you guys confirm if the space blocked could have been responsible' First thing first, then I'll answer the other questions NGK iridium platinum, with exact OEM number matching. Fuel pump was the universal Honda/Toyota pump. Its not the complete assembly with the fuel gauge that I changed, just the engine |
GAZZUZZ:You're right. But I was already tensed up. You know things can be most especially if you gave someone an advise and the things turns bad unfortunately. That's the feeling right now, a bit disappointed |
GAZZUZZ:GAZZUZZ You should know I've been around for a while, not a rookie. Just want ideas as we normally do here. All parts are brand new, not used. There are sites eg Amazon and hondaparts.com that allows you to select your vehicle by specification and then check fitment. That I did and this isn't the first time I'm having to do this. Its unfortunate how this turned out |
GAZZUZZ:Kamoru ke? All brand new ordered from eBay, not purchased in Nigeria. |
Hello guys Mayor2013 GAZZUZZ luvinhubby And others Let's Rob mind My aunt has a 2011 CRV Ex. It drives fine and all parts functioning efficiently and effective. Just as Honda says after 100k miles, do a tune up. Mileage 130k now So we decided to do few things on Saturday Changed spark plugs to NGK iridium Changed fuel pump Changed injectors Changed the upstream and downstream sensors. After fixing, car started fine and was sharper than it was prior. After few minutes drive, a code showed up P1157, which points to Upstream sensor. Cleared code, but it instantly pumped up again. I then suggested we return the old sensor, since nothing was wring, but women and over sabi. We tried to remove sensor 1, only to find it difficult, cos the guy that fixed it forced the sensor in and the threading got damaged on the exhaust pipe. We had to use the heat to pull out the sensor, which was obviously condemned and the thread on the exhaust pipe damaged. Since we need to buy a new sensor and possibly get another pipe that connects to the manifold, the panel beater decided to block the hole/space for the sensor fits it. After leaving the panel beater, just few minutes drive, car started misfiring. I was called. Did a scan and it shows P0300 to P0304 all cylinder misfires, along with the obvious oxygen sensor code. Car is not idling at all now. Once you start, it goes off immediately and terrible black smoke comes from the exhaust. Can you guy confirm if the oxygen sensor issue is connected with the misfire Thanks |
