Someone complained of same issue today, went to the bank they couldn't do anything, ATM not working. Probably a general issue.

These were Igbo currencies before the foreigners introduced their own.

It is called "okpogho". The whiteman tagged it as "bracelet manilla"

Another Igbo word for it is "ego igwe" (iron-money)

Iron is smithened to form it. It's of different types. Each has currency discrepancy.

What do I mean? They measure the high currency base on different factors. It could be the weight, the design.

When someone is rich today people will say: "o nwere ego igwe". It is because of this currency. Or you will hear "o nwere okpogho/,okpogo" (he's wealthy)

The other one is ego ayọrọ (cowries). The Igbo migrated from okpogho to ego ayọrọ. It served as money. You exchange goods and services through this.

The word "ego" became prominent following the introduction of coin and paper money.

There is a town in Ezeagụ, Enugwu State called Okpogho. The town is known for producing Okpogho currency. They were like CBN.

The difference is not much especially with the Niger Delta states and again each state can do according to their allocation but they are not doing it, so it's not a matter of how much they have but what you do with it. You spoke about a standard and quality project carried out by senators in their constituents which invariably you are talking about infrastructure, to be sincere in terms of infrastructure Akwa Ibom is far beyond most states but infrastructure is not something one should use as a yardstick for good performance because it's the right of the citizens just that they don't know. When purpose of a thing is not known abuse and exploit is inevitable.

The true yardstick of good performance is how the citizens are enabled to be self sufficient and productive by the government providing sustainable empowerment.

I no gree o, I know a lot of them and they are faithful both men and women. On the other hand, infidelity is not tribe specific o, in fact, there is a tribe also in the south that is stereotype for this and they seem to proudly display it, nevertheless, I have seen other tribes deep in infidelity, come to my beloved Imo, Owerri to be specific .
What you are saying about Akwa Ibom and Calabar (Cross River) is probably a stereotype you have heard growing up and you held to it, I use to think that way too until I saw what other tribes are capable of doing and I changed my thoughts, it's not a tribal thing, infidelity dey everywhere for people wey no dey stay one place with one person o.

By saying poor , I don't mean completely poor, they live from hand to mouth, not fair , na only politician dey enjoy our money. I am currently doing a project in another state, a federal government project this project was facilitated by a serving Minister and the senator of that' constituency. Come and see standard project, but our senator and Minister representating us seem to be a waste to us in akwa ibom.

This is not peculiar to Akwa Ibom state na, have you been to Imo or Bayelsa or Kogi or Ekiti or any other states in Nigeria apart from Abuja, Lagos and Rivers(actually Port Harcourt) and to some extend Ibadan (not Oyo as a whole) and maybe Onitsha and Aba that are more business and trade focus, all these others states are civil servant states with mostly civil service jobs. The focus of FG on Abuja and Lagos is not helping these states and also the governors of these states are also the problem by not creating enabling environment for businesses and industries to thrive, they mostly wait for allocation from FG then not putting it to good use for the state benefit.

Even the civil service jobs, are they paying the minimum wage stipulated by FG? The poverty is a national thing not Akwa Ibom specific, go to most Northern states and see what poor looks like, little wonder Nigeria is term the poverty capital of the world. Pathetic!

This Godfatherism menace in Nigeria must stop. Why would a governor or president finish his or her tenure and impose another person on the country or state. It has been a pattern in Akwa Ibom particularly and Nigeria in general, little wonder we keep going in the same circle because of strings of previous leaders still having a say in the new tenure. Another victim of this is my beloved Lagos state.

He can't even get a decent apartment with 3 months of the salary (600k), maybe one room in the island for 700k that's turns to swimming pool during the raining season or he goes to the mainland and rent for at least 300-400k.
