This is what a GREAT coach does with young players not the Sham called ASSene wenGAY

Ajax were built on more egalitarian grounds. Rather than recruiting the biggest and the best, they instead sought to focus on a youth scheme that was the envy of clubs around Europe. Such was the admiration for the work of the Dutch side, Football Association technical director Don Howe even circulated a memo to English managers recommending that they follow the model established in the Dutch capital - a model that was informed by the great success of Total Football in the early 1970s as another talented clutch of local players, led by the incomparable Cruyff, enjoyed European Cup success in 1971, 1972 and 1973.

The Total Football team, constructed by Rinus Michels, drew on a pool of talent that included six players born within a few miles of club headquarters. Indeed, Cruyff's own mother worked as a cleaner at the club, such was his umbilical link with Ajax. It was this local focus that the Ajax vintage of 1995 sought to emulate. As president Michael van Praag explained: "Our objective is a senior team, 70% of which is made up of home-bred players."

Of the team that started the 1995 final, only Nigerian winger Finidi George, Finnish forward Jari Litmanen and the Dutch pair of Danny Blind and Marc Overmars were not Ajax born and bred. Kluivert, the teenager who would decide the outcome of the final after appearing as a substitute, was also an Amsterdam native.

A retrospective look at the roll call of players involved at the Ernst Happel Stadion on May 24, 1995, reads like a veritable Who's Who of European football in the 1990s. For Ajax: Van der Sar, Blind, Rijkaard, both De Boers, Seedorf, Davids, Litmanen, Overmars, Kanu and Kluivert. For AC Milan: Panucci, Maldini, Costacurta, Baresi, Albertini, Desailly, Donadoni, Boban, Lentini and Simone. The two managers - Louis van Gaal for Ajax and Fabio Capello for Milan - are also ranked amongst the modern greats.

See there many grey areas when doing this kind thing. Some players a bit unfortunate not to win enough titles in their name in there nlife time but that does necesarily mean that the players that won more titles are necessarily better than players that did not win many titles.it can be a matter of club choices in their career.

It is like saying Bebeto was a better striker that Careca because Bebeto won a world cup and copa america and Careca did not
So I ask for the umpteenth time, What makes Okocha better than the above listed players
Politics › Re: Nigiria At 50 Awards: Jonathan Excludes Murtala, Buhari, Ibb, Abacha by dayokanu(m): 8:10pm On Sep 30, 2010
A quality player should have achievements to his name, They dont necesarily have to be equal to other players.

Can you list any club honour or individual honour Okocha won as a player for almost 20yrs football career

jumobi1:
In France, Zizu is the man. Basically i think Okocha should be on the list with Kanu
Becham vs Rooney? Beckham vs Gascoigne? Point is being more popular doesnt translate to being better

jumobi1:
Okocha is Nigeria's most popular athlete. Kanu is more international but Okocha is Nationally loved. Coming from a guy who hasn't lived in 9ja since 98. lol.
You know Beckham too is much more popular than Zidane. .  .  . . .

asha 2:
I am actually looking at talent wise anyway.Though titles are good (and actually a bechmark in most occasions)it is not really safe to use it everywhere otherwise people might say Frank lampard is a better player than Paul gascoigne.
How do you measure talents? Ability to do leg over? Would you say Denilson of Real Betis is better than Zidane because he appears to be more skillful or would you say Robinho is better than Kaka, because these players would rather dribble just to make fans shout when a simple pass would suffice

Going by talents, Etim Esin should also be nominated for awards as he was probably Nigerias most talented player ever
Politics › Re: Nigiria At 50 Awards: Jonathan Excludes Murtala, Buhari, Ibb, Abacha by dayokanu(m): 7:48pm On Sep 30, 2010
^^ You know some strikers have played at several world cups and not scored a single goal.

Tell us Okochas achievements that makes him better than all the aforementioned people
Politics › Re: Nigiria At 50 Awards: Jonathan Excludes Murtala, Buhari, Ibb, Abacha by dayokanu(m): 7:37pm On Sep 30, 2010
Yekini is still the first Nigerian footballer to score a World cup goal, 3rd highest goal scorer at African nations Cup, and one of the few Nigerian Striker to emerge top scorer in a mid-top rated European league

Pls bring out facts and tell us what makes Okocha better than these players apart from telling us that he can raise the ball for 2 hours non-stop

Apart fro finidi here why would others rank higher.
All of them are better footballers and achieved more in their footballing career than Okocha

When did awards become the criteria for receiving an award. I'm not saying that Kanu does not deserve this award but they should have included Okocha too. They are the two most popular Nigerian footballer ever.
Why should Okocha be nominated? Among Nigerian footballer would he even make top 5?

Oliseh, Finidi, Yekini, Amokachi and Taribo would rank higher
Politics › Re: Nigiria At 50 Awards: Jonathan Excludes Murtala, Buhari, Ibb, Abacha by dayokanu(m): 6:41pm On Sep 30, 2010
Kanu would make the list 50 times before Okocha makes it once.

Have they changed the name of the Country according to the topic. NIGIRIA

Ask yourself - is that the aim of THIS club? To be in the 'top whatever'? huh Or to win? huh There is a distinct lack of ambition beyond 'financially stable' and making it into the CL and that is unacceptable.

We might as well be excited that we are in the top 20 in England since there are hundreds of clubs in lower leagues.
I am so amazed when people mouth off on Top whatever, Whats anyones business with who is top anything if you dont win.

Everton too would say they are always in top 10. Hull in top 20

Great, that will only come after the DKometer which measures the tendency to continually repeat half truths that have already been debunked many times over is patented.  tongue
Instead of throwing conjectures why not point to the half truths that have been debunked.

Is it that Bayern is one of the best Managed clubs or that our Front Office have a track record of success on and off the field or that Wenger epitomises Failure?

Or that we have backed our own empire with one of the richest trophy cabinets in Europe

Arsenal earns 44m, while Barca and Real earn 96m and 119m respectively. . . .even Bayern makes 120m+ from commercial deals and that is the clearest distinction between the clubs.
When you have people like Beckenbauer, Rummenigge and Hoeness running affairs, These are guys with a track record of consistent success on and off the field Not failures like Arsene Wenger who has failed at every endeavour

FYI, Ulli became Bayerns GM at age 27!!! after a career ending injury and turned the Club into a Global brand which minnows like Arsenal can only in their drunken dreams hope to be like even in half a century.
