Religion / Christmas Colours by dazzle5: 9:19pm On Dec 28, 2014
Green&Red colours are known to be associated with Christmas, immediately its Christmas season you start seeing the colours on every decorations of all sorts.
This keeps me thinking why Green and Red, and what is the significant of the colour to the birth of Christ. From what I know,no colour was chosen when christ was born, there was nothing like aso ebi.

What do you think people?
Happy New year in advance!

Health / Benefits Of Eating Different Coloured Foods by dazzle5: 8:42am On Dec 23, 2014
Fruits&Vegetables generally contain little fat, cholesterol or sodium&provide complex carbohydrates, fiber&nutrients. Most are low in calories&they contain natural sugar as opposed to refined sugar which can cause abrupt fluctuations in your blood sugar level. Different colours indicate different nutrient profiles.

RED
Red fruits&Vegetables such as raspberries, tomatoes, guava, watermelon, red cabbage, kidney beans, cherries, strawberries&beets are likely to be rich in the antioxidants lycopene&anthocyanins according to the US department of Agriculture. A medium raw tomato provides 3.2 micrograms of lycopene, a carotenoid that helps your body make vitamin A.

ORANGE & YELLOW
Most orange&yellow fruits and vegetables are rich in beta-carotene,which your body converts to vitamin A, a nutrient that not only improves night vision but also helps keep your skin, teeth&bones healthy. They also contain folate, an antioxidant that prevents neural tube defects in unborn infants.

GREEN
Green vegetables are good for your eyes, bones and teeth and their Vitamin K content helps the blood to clot properly. These foods' antioxidant Vitamins particularly Vitamins C&E, may lower your risk of chronic diseases like Asthma, cardiac failure, epilepsy e.t.c

BLUE AND PURPLE
Blue&purple fruits and vegetables contain anthocyanins, natural plant pigments with powerful antioxidant properties that may reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease. They also contain flavonoids and ellagic acid, compounds that may destroy cancer cells, according to the American Institute for cancer research.

WHITE
White fruits and vegetables including apples, pears, bananas, cauliflower and cucumbers are high in dietary fiber, helping to protect you from high cholesterol and antioxidant-rich flavonoids such as quercetin which is abundant in apples and pears.
The antioxidants in fruits work hard to protect our body from aging and disease. But what you may not know is that those antioxidants work even harder when they have the company of other antioxidants.

I came across these and I thought I should share with you so, you can focus on getting a little of each colour in your diet everyday to maximise the nutritional benefits.

Sophyrocks:

What a bomb shell. This was what i said in a thread some weeks ago. You dnt have a good paying job but you go ahead to marry. To top it all, you follow the nigerian mentality of giving birth to children immediately with the belief that children will open doors of opportunities for you. If you follow the opinions of certain people, poverty will not be far from you. Its a typical nigerian mentality but its the choice of people to either harbor it or discard it. Looking at the economic trends of the country, nobody will teach you to be sensible about your choices. But since people want to marry to please parents and society, they end up with regrets in the end forgeting that once you are stuck, you are stuck and nobody will be there to help you out. Accumulation of debts up and down will not allow you to enjoy your marriage. I hope they hold on child bearing till things pick up.

That's lovely, that means we are on same page& its an issue that needs 100% attention
Family / Nigerian Mentality To Trend Of Life by dazzle5: 11:55am On Dec 22, 2014
It is the belief of Nigerians that once you finish from the University, the next agenda should be marriage. What happens to looking for a job or creating one & working real hard to earn a comfortable life for oneself, the unborn kids&family as a whole.
They seem to have this awkward belief that once you marry, things will strengthen out forgetting that you were not comfortable being single talk less of being marriage.

This is a good scenario:
A guy & a lady in a relationship graduated few years ago, last year the lady got a marketing job of #20,000 without any hope of getting a better one later & the guy still jobless. The parents of the two decided they marry especially that of the lady whose parents are Secondary school teachers.
People advised the lady's parent but they turned deaf ears. They raised money from people&co-operative to make the wedding colourful&fantastic. The wedding took place last year&i tell you,it consumed a lot of money.
Early this year, the groom got a #15,000 job& the bride lost her job cause she was meeting up to her the target given her. They both live in a house rented for them by parents pending the time their jobs will jack up. The couple are not in any comfort zones. The parents are still owing people over the wedding ceremony.

What happens to the thinking faculty of these couple, why didn't they convince the parents.
Some even go to the extent of given birth birth to children without any concrete plan for their welfare.

How can this be contained?

Food / Re: Someone Should Please Teach Me How To Prepare Ofada Rice by dazzle5: 9:38am On Dec 22, 2014
The best way to prepare Ofada Rice:

Rinse ur Ofada rice & pour in a warm water on fire,par-boil
it.
Pour it into a sieve & give it a little wash using ur sieve to
separate d rice from stones. You'll be able to separate them
properly ds way because d stones will sink while d Rice will
float because it has bn par-boiled&now lighter than d stones.

Pour ur rice into another boiling water on fire&salt it to taste.
Give it some minutes to get cooked&dry. It ready!

Prepare a delicious stew of variety(crayfish,locust beans&
ponmo) to go with it.
Romance / Re: She Broke Up When I Told Her No Sex Before Marriage by dazzle5: 8:46am On Dec 22, 2014
That u are still a Virgin at that age is a lovely one because
the world is very corrupt now, no thanks to westernisation.

I'll advice you keep ur head up to ur studies, have females
as mere friends. Do not ask them out, don't show any special
interest in any of them because girls tend to be older in mind
than boys&could initiate d unthinkable.

You still have years ahead of you b4 u can think of marriage, guys
have a lot of responsibilities to take care of in future, don't
fall in a trap.

All d best

May God help locate the kids&have them back home Alive

Parents especially mothers should take note of this; If you
cannot take care of your kids personally, don't give birth
to them.
A lot of parents have forgotten that these so called maids
have their own problems too. Haven't you even thought of
it that if they were okay&satisfied, they won't be in your house
working as maids. Height of their issues again is you having
them maltreated.
