Christianity EtcRe: Before You Criticise That Pastor by dbeloved12: 10:17pm On Dec 19, 2016
emmahoney:
After independence, in order to build a great
nation, each country went to work. But in Nigeria,
after independence, our people went to pray and
fast.
So, while we were praying, Malaysia came here
and took our palm seedlings and built a great
factory of it.
While we were praying, Singapore went into
investment in technology.
While we were praying, India went into ICT.
While we were praying, China went to massive
industrialisation.
While we were praying, UAE went into massive
infra structural development.
While we were binding and casting Lucifer,
Japan went into technological development.
While we were speaking in tongues, Denmark
went into education of her citizens.
While we were mounting big speakers in our
places of worship, USA was mounting man on
the moon.
After our prayers, God, being a wise God decided
to reward us according to our labour.
Since those that went into industrialisation,
technology, infra structural development, ICT,
education etc have been rewarded accordingly.
It's only wise God rewards us with our efforts in
prayers.
That's why today, Nigerian pastors are
competing in building the biggest churches.
That's why there are more prayer houses and
worship places than hospitals and schools.
That's why people rush to prayer houses for
medical and business solutions instead of
hospitals.
That's why we don't do business visibility before
jumping into it since we are going to back it up
with prayers. And when it collapses, we blame
devil.
That's why it's a sin to say anything negative
about Pastors and Imams.
That's why our Pastors don't consider the
opinion of engineers while building and blame
devil when the building collapses.
That's why faith in God replaces building pillars
and when it collapses we blame it on Lucifer.
That's why our Pastors are making sure they
plant Church branches instead of schools on
every street in Nigeria.
That's why we always wait for God to do for us
that which ability would've accomplished.
That's why we want our teachers to labour on
earth and go to heaven for their rewards.
Nigeria is a prayer loving, God fearing nation.
Religion has taken the place of technology,
infrastructure, education etc.
When travelling, we ignore all the necessary road
requirements, servicing of our vehicles and pray.
And, once we pray, we can put a half serviceable
vehicles on the road and blame our step mothers
or mothers in law if anything goes wrong.
That's why there are more people dying on our
roads than wild animals in the forest.
God bless u jare... U'v made my day...

Well, the right to talk, they say, does not include d write to be taken seriously...

Av u ever ask urself the reason why Nigeria are in dis mess... Well my dear is because of dis con men ur called pastor.

Has it occur to u dt despite been one of the most religous Nation we are almost the moat corrupt.

Despite been very religious criminal activities is at its peak

In edcation we are not among the first 1000 university.. This is why we don't av inventor.. Our youths do not av minds of their own...
We av professors that love to be described as prof (when they av no achievement)

We now av nigerian who will spend his or her whole life in church asking God to provide this n provide that, rather than looking inward..

Av u ever ask urself why we are in this mess

The works I do shall you do and greater than these shall ye do.Jesus speaking on they that believeth on him.
What does greater mean? It includes more than private jet.
If Jesus lived in our days, he would use the best, and most comfortable means of transportation. No doubt about that whether the hypocrites agree or not.
Jesus was able to command money out of a fish, so ow come HE lived a humble life if as u said 'he would use the best if Jesus lived in our days'

My dear u don't need to twist facts in order to make ur points.. Right from the time He was born to d end He live a selfless life. He live solely for humanity, He worked tirelessly to set us free from bondage.

Like I said, He had unreserved access to good things of life but He chose to be identify with the masses.

The only time He experience what look like comfort was when He decided to ride a DONKEY n that was when He was preparing to pay d supreme price for our salvation....

So ur ascertion is very wrong...

This is not about controversy.

I stated that this is up for discussion and if only Seun, lalasticlaka or mynd44 will put this on the main page then we will see broader views.

Some people kept ranting about poverty mentality and I just smh in disbelieve.

You cited oyedepo and co as having their own biz but can you just look down their history and you won't agree less that the rode on the back of church donations to attain their present status.

It's no longer news that a quarter of winners chapel members can't afford the fee of covenant university?

How many church members have their children in that school?

I remember when I was serving some years back when I approached my pastor at one redeem branch to lend me 6k to pay back in a month which was very vital to avoid being sent out of my rented apartment but he said no money and I was sent out anyways and I just wonder if my tithing and offering was worth giving to the church but I just gave to obey God.

Today there are many people in the church who need money to start a biz, for treatment and so on but do these pastors really care?

Do you know how much it costs to maintain a jet?

This thread is about Nigerian pastors cos Nigeria is a peculiar country that has countless people suffering even in the church.
Exactly my point...

It's not even right, morally, for someone to display so much wealth in nation where almost 80% of its population are in abject poverty, not to talk of pastors..

Church av d responsibilty to provide for d most vulnerables. We all like to mouth emulating Jesus but can we?

Gone are d days when Christianity in Nigeria is about charity, about service to humanity n infact it's about putting ones life in line for others
If they are not set out to extort gullible Nigeria, why do they build school with with very exorbitant fees instead mechanized farm?...

I believe every man of God should follow the steps of he who he preaches about (Christ as his role model)
There must have been things to ride on but he travelled on foot.
Service to God has never been affiliated with wealth except in recent times(and is subtly used to mock Christianity). Even Christ told the rich man who came to him to give his wealth to the poor and come follow him.
That said it's wrong for a man of God to purchase a private jet.
Note: no one is saying they should live in abject poverty.
God bless u jare....

Jesus even commanded money out of a fish, when there is a pressing need for it. Despite His enourmous power He lived an humble life. He dedicated His entire life to serve humanity.

I wonder, if the so call men of God have that kind of power... ur guess is as good as mine

Mahatma Gandhi once said 'I like ur Christ but I do not like ur Christian, becos ur Christian is so unlike ur Christ'

These people contributed, in no small measure, to the economic woes of our nation

Name the lecturers that own private jets. If the pastors are into any business please name it and let us review his annual returns. All pastors claim to own businesses that only exist in their minds. If their businesses are that lucrative they can calm our curiosity by showing us their tax receipts. There are also pastors in India and Australia. Why arent they buyingprivate jets as much? The Bible says people like you are fed with what you want to believe. Many billionaires who have strings of businesses dont own private jets. The way you pledged to vouch for Adeboye sounda funny. As if you live in his house
I totally agree with u.. Some cannot even see beyond their nose..

Really been educated does not mean one is intelligent

Religious leaders contributed, in no small measure, to the economics woes of d nation, truth be told...

Poverty mentality.

So it is okay for a millionaire, politician and a musician to have private jets but a pastor is subjected to suffering right?

Serving God doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy things because the earth is the lord's and the fullness therein

Before most of you (seun inclusive) come to nairaland to type junk maybe you should just take a minute and go through the Bible then read with your IQ (if you have any) not just rush to prove a void point
With the type of mentallity display by this write, i can only hope and pray that other with similar trait are in d minority, else we are doomed!!!
The CBN should talk of what they know. I am from Ebonyi State and live in Abakaliki. The truth is that by this time of the year, a 50kg bag of rice use to sell for N5000. So if it is N8000 now, it is nothing to celebrate.
If it is #8000, why we no go celebrate? Abeg someone from Ebonyi shd go on a fact finding mission. We really need to know the true state of things. Until then, i keep my fingers cross

I don't know why we cannot av a sustained twitter war against all these glutton that called themselves 'honourables'..

If we cannot go to Abuja to occupy NASS why can't we protest using what is easily available to all of us i.e social media

The war should not end until we achieve our aims and objective which is to reduce their pay to that of PS. They av to be transparent and accountable to the Nigeria citizen. They must also pass a law to allow issues of national importance to be subjected to referendum..
