Politics / Prospect For The Eleme Axis Of The East West Road - Pictures by DBISHOP1(m): 9:44pm On Oct 07, 2022
More Prospect for East-West Road as Chief Ollor Engage Fashola, RCC and Others..

- Work to Commence Soon..

The lingering uncertainties surrounding the commencement of work on the Eleme Axis of the East-West road will soon be a foregone issue following a recent engagement between the Executive Chairman of Eleme LGA Council Chief Hon Obarilomate Ollor, the Honourable Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Raji Fashola and the
Managing Director/CEO of Reynolds Construction Company Nigeria Limited R.C.C Engr. Nader Yusuf in Abuja.

Chief Ollor who expressed disappointment over the negligence on the part of the Federal government and the lingering uncertainties surrounding the commencement of work on the dilapidated section of the East
-West road insisted on the immediate deployment of the contractor to site to ease the suffering of road users.

Chief Ollor questioned why a significant project of that magnitude is still been delayed after been transferred from Niger Delta ministry to ministry of works and also the recent directive by President Muhammadu Buhari assigning the funding of the project to NNPC.

In his response, The Honourable Minister of Works Babatunde Fashola called for calm noting that there are more prospects for the East-West despite the delay. He assured the Chairman of Federal Government's commitment to a lasting solution as further reviews have been done to include 15 kilometers drainage on both sides of the road and the addition of more lanes.

Fashola expressed hope that Federal Executive Council in a short while will make necessary approvals for the commencement of work.
This according to him is to avoid a repeat of what transpired previously were the contractor was mobilized to site but later pulled out.

According to him, the necessary paperwork are ready and will be presented to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for approval so the contractor can move to site for both palliative and full-scale work to commence respectively.

He stated that the idea behind the palliative work is to make the road passable, ease the suffering of road users and reduce the influx of vehicles through the communities while full-scale work will be ongoing.

Chief Ollor also extended his engagement to the head office of Reynolds Construction Company Nigeria Limited R.C.C in Abuja and was received by the Managing Director/CEO Engr. Nader Yusuf.

Engr. Nader Yusuf assured the Chairman of his readiness to mobilize his team to site as soon as he gets the needed attention from the federal government through the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.

Those present at the meeting include: The Hon. Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Raji Fashola. Hon.Minister of State Umar I. El-Yakub.

Crime / Angry Host Community Youths Barricades Entrance To Notore Chemical Industries by DBISHOP1(m): 11:30pm On Feb 08, 2020
In 2005 the federal government of Nigeria privatized the national fertilizer company of Nigeria, NAFCON in a controversial purchase estimated to have cost about 20.5 billion Naira($152million)
NOTORE was chiefly (major shareholder) purchased by James Ibori a former delta state Governor through an engineering and oil servicing company named o'seul Nigeria limited which was handed over to NOTORE on May 9th 2006 in a brief ceremony at hotel presidential port Harcourt.
The entire purchase was done without a due consultation with the Onne community-no town hall meeting.
A committee was set to draft a memorandum of understanding headed by Justice Godwin Ollor which up till date ,not even a paragraph of the MOU has been implemented.
NOTORE produces urea fertilizer using the Hyber batch process. A plant that can be equated to a nuclear plant, not to talk of the poisonous emission of pollutants like carbon monoxide, VOC's, Hydrogen cyanide, nitrogen oxides , Ammonia to water bodies etc. Yet no concern to secure the lives of those living around the neighborhood.
Life span around ONNE has been shortened to the average of 40-60 years.
To say but the least, Notore has a staff strength of over 400 workers ( third party not included) yet the indegenes of ONNE working are not up to 29 persons (FACT)
What an injustice!
Notore has operated in ONNE for 10 years yet not even a project to show for.
The ONNE people have been patient enough.
Youth leaders exhaust their tenures trying to negotiate a way forward but their tenures elapse unfulfilled. This is because notore prefers to invest money in hiring and training mafians that will brainwash their host, not to talk of the billions spent on security to scare the people of ONNE.
Where did we offend notore?
If notore feels that what we are claiming is not correct, why not come up and inform the public?
We gave our land!
We gave our water bodies!
We gave our hospitality (no staff has ever been harmed)
We gave our all.
Conclusively, let it be on record that notore promised to have a town hall meeting with the people of ONNE ( 7th Feb. 2020 by 10am)
The market square was filled with women, men, youth and children yet they did not show up but went on to fill their gate with over 200 soldiers to kill our people if any attempt is made to demonstrate at the company's gate.
If a single person is hurt among the people protesting, the world will hear us.

Business / Shops In Amassoma, Bayelsa State Burnt, Millions Lost by DBISHOP1(m): 10:51pm On Jan 03, 2020
Residents and shop owners counted their losses at Amassoma, the Niger Delta University (NDU), Bayelsa State following an outbreak of fire in Friday evening.

It was gathered that the fire broke out from one of the shops located close to the NDU main gate.

The fire was said to have spread to other stretch of shops consuming goods and other valuables belonging to the victims.

Hundreds of residents besieged the scene but were helpless because of unavailability of fire fighters.

It was learnt that the university, which is located in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area had no fire bay and no firefighting equipment and personnel in the entire university community.

The only state fire service is located in Yenagoa, the state capital, and it takes a journey of over an hour to get to the community.

A student of NDU, who spoke in confidence, said it was not the first time a section of the community was gutted by fire.

“The last time it was a section of the market before a firefighting truck arrived the community from Yenagoa, the entire area had been razed.

“We dont have a fire service in the university and the entire community and it will take over an hour for a firefighting truck to get to Amassoma from Yenagoa”, she said.

Also, Faith Joe, a final year student of Accounting, said her project work, which she took to one of the shops for binding was destroyed by the fire.

“I have spent a lot on this project but the fire destroyed everything”, she cried.

She said the fire incident started from a heap of refuse set ablaze by some residents.

She, however, said residents battle the fire and brought it under control after it had destroyed many shops.

Everyone in Eleme knows Marvis to be the daughter of the respected King Emerge J. E. Nkpornwi. Anyone who doubts should ask anyone in Onne where the popular Palace road leads to. It leads to the Palace of HRM. King J.E Nkpornwi. The post at the popular Nafcon Junction can attest that he is a king. No one can dispute it. Dorathy should face her studies and leave the matters meant for elders.
