Justwise, Solatium, Ekpotek and travelland, thanks for all your responses and arguments, they make us all learn. I think we all are stating the same thing but in different ways, please let's just move on. I'll continue to learn from you all. |
justwise:Justwise, I'm so sorry I would have to disagree with the above statements for the benefit of others. I'm an employee and not only do I have my E-TCC card but also my E-TCC records since I started working and pension statement all of which I plan to submit at my appointment tomorrow. I appreciate all your contributions, they have been very helpful. |
Solatium:Every word of yours is absolutely spot on, no need for me to add anything. |
justwise:Please do you mean we don't need to submit any evidence of tax payment before we can get a UK visa? Are you aware that a company could be deducting tax from one's gross and reflect it on the pay slip without remitting same to the government? |
Travelland is absolutely right, payment of tax shows that one is law abiding and will improve chances of getting a visa. |
Thanks for your responses travelland, astonestone and amehrada. Really appreciate. |
Please am I supposed to bring along passport photographs to the visa application centre for the appointment or a photo of me will be taken during biometrics? |
showstopa:Showstopa, did you try to change the month on the page by clicking the arrow to the right of June 2017? It's on the visa4uk site that you choose an appointment date, what you will do on the TLS site is download and print your payment confirmation, submitted application and document checklist which must be brought to the visa application centre on your appointment date. |
More safety tips are to have a fire extinguisher in the house and service it periodically, ensure that gas cylinders are never over filled, do not place LPG cylinders close to any heat source and inspect the hose periodically and change it when it has expired. |
lightdream:You don't need to pay for premium lounge appointment except you ticked that option when choosing your appointment date and time. I suggest you check whether you ticked that option and untick it if you did. |
daddysgal2015:Thanks daddysgal2015, the old uk visa application portal is confusing to me. I just registered and got to the part to choose the type of visit and I chose tourism but ticked that the main purpose of the trip is to visit/stay with a close family relative who is settled in the UK then I got a prompt that the type of visa I chose is not the correct choice for the trip with a link to guidance on visa selection. When I followed the link, I was directed to the new application portal and found out that I am not even eligible to apply for family visa which the next best option. I think i'll just go with the new portal which I had started before. |
Thanks ekpotek and blank for your responses. I understand better now though I already filled the application on the new website. |
ekpotek:The new application does not give room for blanks or words in spaces to be filled with numbers. I'm also in the same situation as daddysgal2015. At the end of the day, I don't think it will matter what is filled for an infant as long as they are aware the applicant is an infant. |
daddysgal2015:I don't know whether your daughter will be attended to on the day you will be since you have chosen a different date for her. It's better to choose same day next week for both of you. That's what I want to do. Prime time costs an extra $101 and it's not worth it in my opinion. |
The level of corruption going on in the NIS is disheartening and unfortunate even in a seemingly corruption-fighting regime. How long is this going to continue? How long are we going to keep looking and be silent? Isn't there anything that can be done by us to stop this act? Please let's create awareness and share our stories about the corruption in NIS on our social media accounts especially twitter until something is done. I know people will say we are wasting our time but let's do it all the same before some corrupt people finish Nigeria for us. The same situation with getting a driver's license. Let's take advantage of social media and this whistleblowing season to expose these corrupt government institutions. One thing is for sure, it will never stop except we stop it. |
Peachesfly:Peachesfly, please which passport office did this happen? |
isaacosas01:Isaacosa01,please how much did you pay without going through any officer and how long did it take to get the passport? |
@chicwoman, the Lagos state home ownership scheme also known as LAGOSHOMS is very real though has lost a bit of credibility since Ambode became governor but it's still real. I personally know people who won the ballot and are already living in their apartments. You need five years tax records amongst other documents and I don't think the requirements are stringent. Which one are you interested in? In my opinion, the ones in the city are better though far more expensive but more organized because of the class of people living there unlike the ones in the suburbs that are owned by the lower class and mostly empty and begging for people to own them. |
fysapop:Congrats Fysapop, do you mind sharing your GRE scores? |
I have enjoyed the arguments from both sides of the divide except the insults. I can also relate with both sides and while both sides have made some valid points, I think some points have been exaggerated. No doubt, Nigeria is blessed with natural resources as well as human resources that's capable of putting her in the league of the best countries to live in but you have to admit that having that potential doesn't automatically translate to achieving that potential. Nigeria is also a country where a nobody can become wealthy overnight but that's mostly based on sharp practices such as securing contracts fraudulently, going into politics with a view to embezzling, using your 9-5 job to embezzle though there are also legitimate ways to getting wealthy. Also note that this opportunity to wealth is limited to a small few by virtue of connection while the larger unfortunate people, though equally as hardworking and smart if not more, continue with the hustle with no end in sight. It just seems the individuals with the stance that one can make it in Nigeria hold that position because they have made it in their assessment and it seems selfish to only think of the prosperity oneself without thinking of that of the nation and its people. Had it been Nigeria currently has good leadership with good intentions for the citizenry or there's a possibility of such in the foreseeable future, then there's hope for Nigeria but even at that the people are so used to corruption as a way of life that they themselves don't want it to end. It's only a patriotic dream for any Nigerian to wish that things would get better but it's clear that's not going to happen soon if at all. If you're thinking of enriching only yourself amidst a failing nation then Nigeria offers that platform but if you want the good of your posterity then Canada offers that. |
I think we should all use all the available social media platforms to let the world and authorities know the daylight robbery going on in NIS. We should tweet and copy the President, Vice President, EFCC, Comptroller General of NIS, Senate President, Office of the Public Defender, Femi Falana, etc. I know Twitter works wonders in this kind of situation. We can't keep quiet and allow corruption kill Nigeria. |
Ekpotek, thanks for your contributions - they've been helpful and insightful. Please how much validity should my international passport have when applying for U.K. Visa and when entering the UK? My passport expires in December this year and I won't be able to apply for the UK visa till like end of April or beginning of May because I'm currently processing my child's passport. I've heard of a six month passport validity but I didn't see anything like that on the U.K. Visa application site. |
mialate:Mialate, in my opinion I don't think it matters what company is on your pension account since it's a retirement savings account but you can state that you started your career and opened the account while still with your former employer. I'm planning to submit six months statement of my retirement savings account as an economic tie. You can explain the 300k debit if it will strengthen your application. |
Thanks Justwise, Ekpotek, Blank and Nonoski as well as every other contributor. I really appreciate your inputs. |
nonoski:I don't know if this is possible but have you been told to pick up your decision without that of your wife and children? Also, please how did you fill your family's application? Please I would appreciate if you could help answer the questions I asked in my earlier posts on the previous and current pages. Thanks. |
justwise:Thanks Justwise, I didn't find your question intrusive in any way. According to my pay slip, my monthly take home after tax and after a loan repayment of 37k that ends next month is 185k. Keep in mind that this is after about 40% of my annual salary has been paid at the beginning of the year and I also receive more than 100k monthly as allowance which is not reflected in my pay slip as well as some other allowances that are in certain months. So you can understand that I don't receive a fixed amount as salary monthly hence my confusion on what to fill as my monthly salary. I know I would have to do a lot of explaining on the covering letter, I just hope the ECO will not just try to verify what I filled as my salary only from my pay slip without reading my covering letter. More guidance on this or any part of my application would be appreciated. Thanks |
justwise:Justwise, like I stated in my previous post our salaries vary due to the nature of our jobs. For example, none of us has received the same amount in the last six months and it's going to continue like that. I'm not really asking to be told our chances of securing visas, I'm only asking how our applications should be filled as regards the financial section considering we both don't have fixed salaries (should we just calculate the average of six month payslip we plan to submit), how our applications can be linked, whether we both can select co-sponsor since we are using funds from our many accounts. Should we also divide and allocate cost of the trip in each application based on our salaries? Our budget for the trip is about 700k i.e 550k as flight cost (qatar is $1,719.4 at N312.18/$ according to oanda) and 150k as local transport+sight seeing+miscellaneous. Accommodation and feeding will be borne by my wife's family in the UK that's why I omitted those costs. |
Ekpotek and Justwise, please I need your inputs on my earlier post above. Thanks |
worry357:Thanks for the response but we are not using most of our savings, we just have many accounts and I feel submitting all of them would reflect the true status of our finances. Please what about the other questions I asked? How should we fill the application? Thanks |
Hello everyone, I've been following this thread and I must confess that I've learnt a lot thanks to Justwise and other contributors. However, I didn't come across some questions which apply to my situation and I would appreciate your inputs as I plan to apply for standard visitor's visas for my family. The main purpose of this trip is for our 3 month old baby spend some time with my wife's family in the UK as he's their first grandchild. We don't have sufficient fund for the trip in one particular account so we would like to combine all our accounts both personal and joint for the application in order to stand a better chance at obtaining the visas. Is it better to transfer all the fund into one account or leave them the way they are and explain in a covering letter? Should we both select co-sponsor in the application? For the cost of the trip and amount available for the trip, should we both input the total cost of the trip as a family in our individual applications or should I input this amount in my application while my wife inputs zero or should we divide the total amount between us and input an amount based on our account balances. I also read somewhere that our applications can be linked, please how is that done and which of the UK visa application sites allows this? Also, our salaries are never the same in any two months based on the nature of our jobs and in addition, I usually receive a big percentage of my annual salary at the beginning of the year while the rest is spread over the year. Should we take an average of our salaries for the six months we would submit our bank statement as our monthly salaries or should it be an average of our total annual salaries? |
lexyj123:You can leave your income figure in Naira but bear in mind that the ECO will use the prevailing exchange rate of the day at https://www.oanda.com/currency/converter/ to convert it. you can use the exchange rate on oanda as a guide. |
