Politics › Biafra: Avengers Issues Last Warning To Seven Governors by deantimes(op): 2:17pm On Jun 13, 2016

THE Niger Delta Avengers have issued what it called “last warning’ to seven state governors to free pro-Biafran activists being held in police and military custodies in their states.

This is contained in a statement signed by the group’s spokesperson, Mudoch Agbinibo.

The new militant group, which has vowed to bring Nigeria’s oil production to zero, has given 72 hours to the governors to free Biafran agitators.

Some of the governors threatened by the group are Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Willie Obiano of Anambra, Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa and Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta.

Others are Dave Umahi of Ebonyi, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, and Rochas Okorocha of Imo State.

“We request the immediate release of all pro-Biafrans activist held in your various Police/Military Custody, you are hereby given 72 hours to release them or risk your convoys, police station, military base and government offices being attacked,” the group stated.

“We are not negotiating with anybody and nobody is representing us.

In 48 hours we will release a video clip showing our arms and the targeted areas.

“All strike team already in position awaiting command.

We are ready for war and we have nothing to lose!!!”

THE EFCC is currently on the trail of Dumebi Kachikwu, the younger brother of Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu.

The reason for the EFCC’s interest in Dumebi Kachikwu is unknown.

It has also been confirmed that the EFCC has frozen Dumebi Kachikwu’s accounts, according to Sahara Reporters.

The EFCC has, in recent times, stepped-up its fight against corruption, with many high-profile names implicated.

Such high-profile individuals include Former minister of aviation, Fami-fani Kayode, who has been in detention for weeks.

THE immediate past chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party has stormed the Wadata Plaza National Secretariat of the opposition party to take over the affairs of the party.

Mr. Sheriff led his group to storm the secretariat early on Monday morning.

He was however prevented from gaining entrance to the secretariat by security operatives.

Mr. Sheriff was chairman before the party’s national convention held in Port Harcourt bon May 21.
Before leaving the Rivers State capital that day, he announced the cancellation of the convention, citing court orders.

Other leaders of the party however ignored him and went ahead with the convention and also announced his sack and the appointment of a caretaker committee headed by former Kaduna State governor, Ahmed Makarfi.

Another group, led by a former Minister of Information, Jerry Gana,also held a parallel convention in Abuja and announced a former Deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Mantu, as the new chairman of the PDP.

Following the claim to the leadership of the party by three separate camps, the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, ordered a sealing of the secretariat in order to avoid clashes.

However, some leaders of the party had last week announced that a reconciliation meeting had resolved all the issues, paving the way for the resumption of Mr. Makarfi and his committee at the secretariat.

They also claimed that the Sheriff group agreed to the reconciliation moves.

But shortly afterwards, Mr. Sheriff insisted that he remained the national chairman of the party.
