It depends on the context of equality you are referring to. In a man/wife scenario, the man is the head of the home, he is primarily responsible for everything in the home; the woman even foregoes her identity to become part of the man. This however does not mean that the woman is less than the man, just that ultimately there is a leader in the home.More like what you have in a football team; there are 11 players but one of them is the Captain, oftentimes he's not the best player in the team but the one who commands the respect of the rest of the side. They listen to what he says and key decisions on the field are often taken by him.

The bottom line is the people are never forced to give, in fact if you feel the whole thing is a scam keep your money (and your mouth shut), but please let those who are persuaded that this is a worthwhile thing do as they are led. By the way the article said he wants people who can give N1m whenever God needs it, you go and pray or ask God if He wants you to part with your Millions or not.

unlike some posters on here, i dont think bride price or dowry is antiquated at all. If a father has invested money and time into his daughter, it is only fair that the groom's family appreciate his effort (both financial and moral). In most cases the bride's family would demand money and other goods, the thing to note is if the girl was not properly educated or of loose morals would the man be marrying her? I don't think so, in which case he should stump up what they require afterall its their daughter.
