the other person buy a stolen car. They copied your friend chassis and use it for that stolen one. It’s either it was done abroad or here in Nigeria depending pn how professional it was carried out. But unfortunately the original car which vin was copied unluckily find it way to the same country.

Return the car to the dealership. Reporting to police is a long battle and expenses.

I have been hearing of VIN cloning but i never believed, Someone told me he bought a car the car colour is purple and when he checked the VIN that was what he saw online (same purple colour) as a matter of fact his custom paaper has been verified multiiple times as been legit. His car came into the country july last year.

The guy wanted to register his car only for them to tell him that the chassis no. (ViN) has already been used by someone else. Further check reveal the car using the VIN is a white car. And the car was registered january last year.

The guy is confused, the vendor has refused to coollect the car back, he said the buyer should report to police and frsc so they can incalidate the other person registration, is that even possible?

For your own interest don't register the car though the same car dealer. They might hide issues about the car document from you. The vin number might be altered, etc

Imagine a situation where by someone buys a foreign used car, custom papers cleared, even verified the custom paper, and everything is legit.

However at the point of registering the car in autoreg, it was discivered there is a registered car with same VIN.

Further tracing shows the car has a lagos number, and a colour different from what the car looks like online.

Also on autoreg the registered car does not have an engine number.

On NVIS the plate number shows however you cant find the VIN on NVIS

from DPC to lintel= 2million
from lintel to roofing stage = include casting of lintel, plank used for casting rod to chain the whole house, decking of varendah, kitchen etc =2million
