No interior pictures?.... Please, lets see the roof down and how it looks inside. |
All good books mentioned. Forgive me diverting alittle, I think they need to watch the tv series "THE WEST WING". I have watched all seasons a couple of times, as much as it is fiction, i feel every leader ( some one shld please buy the DVD for GEJ and wife) might have one or two things to learn and/or infer from it. I particularly love the level of intelligence the president surrounds himself with. If you ve seen the series, what do u think? |
lokito:I do understand, but my point is.... i couldn't possibly fall in love with say... "an orange seller" (abeg, no be say anything wrong with them oh), because, no matter how strong the konji hold me, i will not befriend her at all in the first place. You get my drift? |
lokito:ehmmm.... i dont think the "imperfection" came after she became a wife oh, she had it from the very start. Without fear of sounding condescending, i guess birds of a feather flock the same. The kind of women a man goes for, goes a long way to show the kind of man he is. I, for one..... no matter how tempting or easy, there is a standard threshold below which my woman cannot fall, same as women have their threshold as well. |
It beats me a times how marriage has become so broken and everyone trying to make it scientific. I paint another scenario, one which i am very conversant with. My dad and mum both were working, but no formulae was used for anything (per say), Granted, my dad takes care of the MAIN responsibilities, and my mum the minor ones but these roles were easily interchangeable whenever the need arose. Pops pays our fees, gives us some upkeep money, Mums usually gives us additional money for other frivolities (clothes, shoes.. just playing around money). In them of house hold stuff, my dad would usually buy the bulk food (bags of rice, beans, yam), but my mum takes care of most additives and fruits and the likes. Some months, moms wld go out and buy the bulk foods (looking back now, she is usually very excited when ever she does, maybe because of exra money she just made or just the joy of buying them) and other times my dad comes home with the food additives. Clothings, each buy for themselves and for one another. (mums real did like buying for my my dad tho). DECISIONS WERE ALWAYS TAKEN TOGETHER, with few exceptions where apologies are made and efforts to make it up, like my dad buying my mum a gift to apologise or my mum preparing a special delicacy WHAT IS MY POINT As much as it might sound quite idealistic, but if my parents could do it for almost 50yrs, any sincere couple can. Just do things sincerely for one another, contribute when you can. and this includes even house chores. it surprises me when pple talk about whose responsibility it is to do what; the answer is.. its both yours, Just do them with joy and love. ps: i remember when my dad started a building project, and all house hold purchases went to my mum, even our fees a times. But even then, She would contribute some to the building and He some to house. There was no clear cut lines. |
lightoftruth: Let me see the video .......the video on Meta-pro glass,.....post it here, so I will have an insight .Video added, you can chk it out. i think its really innovative and cool. u can chk other videos on youtube |
So, i have been considering dumping the android platform for IOS, then i got thinking; Phone companies seem to now be generally lazy and lack innovation. They all stick to what has now come to be called the "glass slab". Hate the good old Nokia as you would, but one can't take away their design and innovative stance; Different shapes, different sizes, different form factors. Then came android, and every one seems to be chasing after that glass slab form factor. It has gotten so bad now that the argument is now who has a slimmer design or better screen resolution or size of internal specs. Even making so much issue out of which phones breaks/bends. I think its high time these phone designers/companies dust up their thinking cap and put it back on. That said, i want to give kudus to Blackberry for their new and out of the box design (passport), i really wish one can see more of such out of the box designs in the nearest future. And before anyone asks which one has Nigeria or Africa been able to come up with, i dare say, NON, atleast not directly, but so long as we still try to purchase these phones, i feel we are contributing somehow. ![]() So, all that being said, what do y'all think is the next stop in mobile devices....... phones, tablets and/or laptops for that matter. For me i think holographic displays should be the worlds next innovative stop. Watched a video on Meta-pro glass, and i was really impressed (y'all shld chk it out). Lets hear from you guys 1. Do you think mobile device design innovation is at an all time low? 2. What innovation do you see coming up next or which would you love to see? ps: i think "wearables" are going to die out soon enough. |
so... over the last couple of days the iPhone 6 and 6+ hv gone on sale, i have followed the reviews closely, and i must say i hv been tad disappointed. Mainly on 2 fronts. 1. Poor Battery life 2. 6+ bending Anyways, waiting for this weekend as the note 4/edge are released into the market for proper comparison to me made. |
Really cool looking bike... sad I wldnt be arnd till year end, wld hv really loved to chk it out Howz the maintenance like, by the way? |
I think some thing is terribly wrong with Edo state and most pple from there. I particularly blame it on the breakdown of family structure in that state. Broken marriages, illegitimate kids... etc. Take a look at their females, a good number of them are into prostitution and the boys are either cultists or armed robbers Growing up (even right now as an adult, whenever i travel home), there is actually no reason to be out of the house after 7pm. Parents need to be more responsible for the wards. If under 18years kids are always back home say by 5pm, the chances of these bad influences would be greatly reduced. The family structure as a matter of urgency need to be strengthened. Disclaimer: I am using Edo state as a point of ref, because its the topic of discussion here. That is not to say other states are not guilty too. |
UchihaItachi: For the one I'm currently using, 100% functionality and 0% the otherswhats ur current and what u planning on next, if i may? PS: Im currently using a Note 2 planning on a 2014 phone tho. I do change my phone every 2 years, so my note 2 is almost purely functional now, but wasn't when i bought it tho... ![]() |
Having given some thought to mobile phones and its proliferation into our lives, i have come to the conclusion, that most people (myself included) buy the phones we buy, first and for most as a fashion statement. One that defines image, prestige and possibly affluence*. This holds true for about 80percent of the time and the other 20percent for its functionality. I just need a survey/figures to back my opinion. My premise is based on the fact that, if we are to be very honest with ourselves, a 2012 phone isn't very different from what we have currently in 2014 in terms of what it can actually do. Calling, chatting, gaming, pictures (not like most of us really do anything with the pictures we take, other than just to keep memories). Yet we all want to buy that new and expensive phone. I believe that even those that decide to opt for the techo phones actually dnt really have anything against the HTCs, Sammys, Motos and apples. As much as i would want to agree with them that it might be more economically prudent, i dare say that if they have more cash at their disposal, they wldnt mind the luxury and image more premium phones provide. So, let me ask, what is ur main motivation for buying a phone? lets classify in terms of percentages. For me (call me what u wish), its about 60percent image, oppression, superiority, ego and 40percent functionality. Same as how someone wld decide to wear a UK brand shirt rather than one made in Aba, even when in-fact, both might be equally good, or even buy a particular recent car instead of a cheaper older model. So, lets hear ur percentage motivation for the phone you currently use or plan to buy next |
texazzpete: osx Mavericks brings about an unprecedented amount of synergy between iOS and Osx. If you've got a Macbook and run OSX (not like me that 99% of the time is in boot camp Windows 7) it's actually pretty crazy not to go with iOS.Thanks... I actually use maverick almost 99percent of the time with Ubuntu and windows on virtual box - just for some academic SWs i cnt get on OSx, but i rarely use those now tho. Moto X is quite a handsome device, i especially like the body customisation/options (which regrettably i cnt get in my part of the world, only white and black), coupled with the fact that its relatively cheap too. A lot of folks hv called the strip on the Note edge a gimmick, but some part of me wants to believe its going to be more than just that, i guess one wld have to wait and see about that. I suppose i shld just go with my guts and fully go Apple. I must confess, i am really enjoying my OSx after years of being with Windows. Its beautiful simplicity really does help me get stuff done. The next couple of weeks wld really help me decide tho, especially when benchmarks are out and they come to shops where one can get to meet and really feel them. Like i said earlier, with my gadgets, its first and foremost about the feel.... |
ejiro2130: I actually liked your post even before completely reading it, I have never own an iPhone and my last apple product was a pod 2yrs ago but if the op really has a mac as he claims then why on earth will he need an androidBeen using a note 2 for about 2years and a macbook for way under a year, so, i could safely say i am no die hard fan just yet; not for Android, nor apple. Granted OSes frm apple are very fluid, but just for the same reason i bought the Note 2 when i did (S-Pen) or my N97/E7 before that (slide keypads). I love something different, not just internal specs. @Boosun, I dnt really care much about sharing nor for expandable storage neither (i dnt have a memory card on my Note 2, had until it started slowing my phone down) With enough cloud storage, i am just ok. I just love innovation and something different, which is where the Note edge does it for me, but then, for a complete eco system, the push is towards the iPhone (esp since i think i love the apple watch too) Ps: Talking of different and innovation, y'all should check out the Sharp aquos crystal, and u will understand my kind of preferences in phones. Thankfully it comes quite cheap, so i can afford to buy that as a secondary phone just for kicks |
StPete: If you truly have a MacBook like you claim to have, you wouldn't need a prophet to tell you what to choose.I actually watched the unveiling live last night, coupled with the advantage of an eco system (still barely 6mnths old with my mac tho). But in all honesty (stand to be corrected), i didn't see the iPhone 6 as being very beautiful or extraordinary of which i think the note edge is/might. I guess i would need to get to the shops to feel both phones when they hit the market. Im not really sure what i was expecting from the Iphone6, bcause, just before the launch, i was certain i wld go Apple, but right now, aint too sure again. PS: the AppleWatches are very dope tho..... i felt innovation, i felt quality, i felt beauty, things i cnt say exactly about the iPhone6. Fingers crossed tho, lets see reviews frm the coming months. Anyways, while at it tho... do chk out the note edge (with an open mind tho.. being an apple fan and all ) |
Before i start, i wish to categorically state that, for me, a mobile phone goes beyond just functionality. I generally like the feel and how it makes me feel in turn, more like the kind of shirt i chose to wear. That said, i am well aware of all the Technos and Giones and all them other products out of china, and how ridiculously cheap they are, so i really dnt need any advice as to that regard.. THANK YOU. The iPhone 6 were released yesterday and the note 4 about a week ago. I am looking to change my Note 2 in the coming months and i am torn between the above mentioned devices. Before the launch of iPhone 6 yesterday i was really psyched as to what to expect and all, and my intentions of trying out a new OS for kicks, seeing as i changed from PC to Mac recently. But after the release, i am not overtly impressed as nothing spectacular is in the iPhones other than the increased size. On the other hand, i am quite impressed with the Note edge as iT introduced something out of the ordinary. hence my dilemma. For my mobile... aside the Juice, which almost all mobile phones have now, i love The feel The beauty How extraordinary (in terms of the technology) Eco System SO, lets hear from you guys.... which would you go for? For the sake of this post, lets assume the cost is inconsequential or better still assume you offered both to choose from, WHICH WOULD YOU RATHER PICK, IPHONE 6PLUS OR GALAXY NOTE EDGE? |
ckhelvin: Nothing spectacular jor..y not anticipate for September 9..the unveiling of iphone6 and apple's smart watch ..I have been a sammy fan, not the S5 nor Note3 exactly tho....... but the Note 4 sounds promising enough. I dont really care about other devices in this present event, just the Note 4 |
official IFA live stream link http://www.ifa-tv.de Specific events can be viewed on individual product sites ps: event not started yet |
UchihaItachi: You're kidding right?Actually, i lifted that part from a site as was duly referenced. But truth be told, all of the specs are speculations and hence most likely incorrect. Be that as it may, we just got but a few more hours to wait to get an official statement on the devices. Would most likely provide a link where the events can be streamed live shortly. |
The long awaited IFA in Berlin Germany is finally here, and one on the biggest events is the unvailing by samsung of its flagship device, the galaxy note 4. A lot of predictions have been made and i am really excited about the event. Personally, i was sort of disappointed in the Note 3 and even more so the S5, lets hope samsung gets their act together this time around. Interestingly too, this would be coming just days before the also much anticipated iPhone 6 from apple (9th September), notably because of the rumours of a larger screen size, and/or two devices of different sizes. further more, the much talked about i-watch might be unveiled too, ushering Apple into the wearables market. By and large, the month of september is usually an exciting one in the tech/gadgets world. Below is link to a teaser as released by samsung on the note 4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPzaPI418_0#action=share Other devices expected at the IFA event can be found below, http://www.christiantoday.com/article/samsung.galaxy.note.4.launch.event.live.stream.start.time.watch.online.ifa.keynote/40187.htm IFA is known as one of the earliest German industrial exhibitions, which started in 1924. What the heck is really happening to our banking sector.... I do not agree that the SMS alert be compulsory. Especially if one would be charged for it. 4naira, is even on the high side, considering that one can get these SMSes way cheaper. Security my foot!!! I hate all these unnecessary charges joh. |
Tchitntdu: This video show how many Nigerians in Malaysia are being maltreated for one reason or the other. Read below the story of one NigerianARE YOU FOR REAL, OP? WHAT IS MALTREATING ABOUT THE VIDEO YOU POSTED? THE FIRST GUY WAS RUNNING AWAY AND HAD TO BE CHASED AFTER, THE SECOND GROUP OF GUYS WERE FUGITIVES AS WAS EVIDENT ON THE PASSPORT SHOWN (AND ALMOST CERTAINLY INTO "G' OR DRUGS) AND FOR THE LADIES.... I AM 101-PERCENT SURE THEY ARE PROSTITUTES WITH PROBABLY EXPIRED VISA. I HAVE BEEN IN MALAYSIA FOR SHORTLY OVER A YEAR, AND HAVE SEEN FIRSTHAND THE STUPID AND LAWLESS NATURE OF LOTS OF NIGERIANS HERE, SO I DO NOT FEEL PITY FOR THEM. IT IS MY BELIEVE THAT A CRIMINAL SHLD BE ARRESTED AND PROSECUTED BY ALL MEANS NECESSARY. SOMETHING THE MALAYS UNDERSTAND WELL AND TRY TO DO, WHICH ALSO HAPPENS TO BE SOMETHING I CANNT SAY ABOUT NIGERIA AND FYI, THE VIDEO WAS MADE BY THE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS. RECENTLY, WHEN GOING FOR MAJOR RAIDS (ESP AFTER MNTHS OF INVESTIGATION) THE EVENTS ARE CAPTURED TO AVOID FALSEHOOD. |
In all honesty, as much as i would want to lay all the blame on the feet of the pastors, i can not sincerely do so. I think the pastors just evolved into telling and giving pple what they want. Take your boss in the office for example, try telling him the truth and watch how he begins to treat you. In church, watch when the prayer point is for forgiveness and help to do what is right, to when the prayer point is "breakthrough this week" or "protection against spiritual forces hindering ur destiny". Even talking of tithes and offerings, 90percent of christians do not pay because of need to help the church or less privileged grow (actually, most christians do not care what its used for) so long as their return on investment is "pressed down, shaken together and running over" It is akin to blaming our leaders only for the woos we suffer as a nation, when its the followers that condone and encourage the ill treatment. I believe the Nigerian version of christianity is just an evolution frm our traditional religion. What is in it for me... how do i distroy my imaginary enemies and spiritual forces hindering me, how can i better my lot, all at the same time continuing what i do in my daily life. No sacrifices, no genuine craving to help the less privileged. Its a very sad development, and it is my opinion that unless we lay less emphasis on the church, and on the "body of christ" which if correctly viewed is not in the church building or ur pastor, but in ur neighbour, our lives would always be worst for it. |
First of, i am a christian, would even consider myself as born again (If that means having taken Jesus as ur personal lord and saviour) But i have had this worry in my heart for some time. Especially with the body of christ in Nigeria. I am basing the premise of my line of thought on the fruits been bore by "christians" as we can all see. On sundays, the churches across the nation are usually filled to the brim, then from monday to saturday, its business as usual, same cheaters, same embezzlers, same ritualist, same fornicators, same slanderers, same... you name it. The churches now emphasis loving God, defining loving Him by how much tithe you pay, or donations you make, or how much work you do in church, or how many vigils you attend, or how well you know the bible cover to cover, or how well you pray against witches and wizards. As much as all those are wonderful christian duties, the church has totally forgotten to preach simple love for our neighbours. We spend so much time in church, yet can not resist pilfering that money in the office, or saying kind words to some one we run into, or taking genuine interest in pple - inquiring genuinely about their well being, or even something mundane as picking a fellow christian up in ur car on ur way frm church when going same way. The average christian (your pastor included) wld see you as evil when you dnt come to church on sunday, but wld praise you and give you a front row seat in church if u steal tonnes of cash and donate same to church, even when they know you can't afford it. If some pple are trying to live the christian life, then it is not nearly enough. Because, if it is, 1 person out of 10 is enough to really effect changes. I THINK WE CHRISTIANS THEREFORE NEED TO SIT UP AND STOP DECEIVING OUR SELVES WITH LIVING PRETENTIOUS LIVES. LOVING GOD IS DEEPLY INTERTWINED WITH LOVING OUR NEIGHBOUR AND VERY LITTLE TO DO WITH WHAT WE DO IN CHURCH. MONDAY TO SATURDAY IN A CHRISTIANS LIFE SHLD BE PREACHED TO BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE SUNDAY. THE SUNDAY IS JUST AN ICING ON THE CAKE. BUT THEN AGAIN, WHAT DO ONE EXPECT WHEN THE ALTER OF GOD IS NOW FILLED WITH CHARLATANS AND THIEVES. P.S: If any one is going to claim i am judging, so what? Anyways, observation and inference to me, is what i just did. |
Dude... you know there wld hv been really nothing wrong if you had taken the car to a car wash and paid tops, 1k for it to be washed in and out before posting pictures, right? |
asalimpo: i think in many ways this age thing is misinterpreted. The issue tht shud b considered is not so much d physcal age but d foundation. What kind of upbringing d fellow had in their early years (0-20). The foundation can set d trends for d rest of the persons life. Wise parents groom their kids in d formatve years . Good schoolg , stable family life, conducive home atmosphere, extra tutors, taught to love readg,Ones foundation, goes without saying, plays a very solid role in what anyone wld be able to do later in life, But even at that, you find some kids are more inclined to the mathematical sciences while others are to the arts, thats even without the extra lessons and tutoring. So for programming, even as a kid, you have to first be logically and analytically inclined even before anything else. Subsequently.... the handwork now comes to play As to the OP, if she is over 25, i doubt she wld ever turn to become a PRO, at programming (without fear of sounding pessimistic), soon enough, family responsibilities wld begin to set in... if not already. And same goes for almost anyone, just like i wld most likely never be a good artist or painter no matter how hard i try. So, in summary, PROGRAMMERS ARE BOTH BORN AND MADE. |
asalimpo: i don't agree with your age analysis. I read on slashdot and a forum of ppl wu started as late as 47 and 34 respectvly.Very true, that in saner climes, even at 50, one can start learning to program and a lot of other stuff. But note, i made reference to nigerians living in nigeria. The best the person can do is just to understand the concept. Just imagine, like u said, your job (wld be easier if u somehow work with programmers, but then again, what are the odds?), family responsibilities (even worst when kids are already in school and u have to pay huge fees for them to have a better education), lack of good and stable internet. how many families living in nigeria (especially cities) can afford to own a home office where one can concentrate to study, or afford to have good and affordable internet at home. when you factor all that together, one can even conclude it wld be a near imposibility for an over 25 (30, more reasonably) to start learning to program and get to be really good at it. PS: Most research and statistics given out there seldom apply to nigeria, we just a peculiar pple, with peculiar situations.... case in point, economic principles. |
As much as i am sure you want to hear that programmers are born (wld love to tell myself that too) but the answer to your question is not that simple 1. I think, programming, like most other ventures in life takes a combination of things (talent, determination, motivation, opportunity, interest..etc etc), and all in the right proportion too. 2. I can bet my old blackberry phone here on my desk (its been retired already), that if you are nigerian and live in nigeria and you are over 25yrs, and not yet a programmer, you most likely will never be a pro at it again.... at least not in this life ( )3. By programming, i dnt mean just knowing how to design a website (or more accurately - edit one). Nigeria just have a few handful of natural programmer and/or opportuned ones for that matter (lack of natural, because we didn't start early enough, and lack of opportuned ones, because the environment isn't supportive enough) By and large, I bet if any nigerian (you included) is given the opportunity and right environment (say, working at google or say, microsoft) before long we wld become gurus at it. It takes courage, especially considering the economic reality on ground to at over 25 years, begin to learn programming, especially in a vacuum and expect to be good at it. We can try, we can get familiar with the whole idea, we can even write one or two little programs, but might never become a pro at it. I think we all need to start to work together to build the next generation, we need more natural programmers in the land, we need to begin to catch them young. Finally, you need to ask yourself why you want to learn how to program, you answer shall form the basis of how much and far you can endure and go in it. Is it so u look/sound cool too, is it to make a living out of it or is it for some exam? My advice to you and to anyone that wants to learn to program is.... start by having genuine interest in how stuff work. Play with ur windows OS (possibly crash it a couple of times), chk the scripts behind websites, play with ur mobile phone and the apps. Generally, know the possibilities that programming hold, see results that hv been gotten, take a look at the codes. If finally you dnt end up a programmer, at least u wld make a good software engineer (note that they are several other branches of sw engineering that has nothing to do with coding per say.) Goodluck PS: i am just an engineer who can code a little, but i just dont (except I'm doing it to pass some exam). I just dnt have the patience for it. I am more of a big picture person, i just dnt like going into the very nitti-gritty (give me planning, analysis, designing, even testing to some extent... but just give someone else the coding... ) |
solomakindees: Jonah is a zoologist.@Bolded, have u ever seen a mother duck with her ducklings?

Y'all can say what you like... but deep in ur heart i knw it just kind of feels "uncomfortable" seeing ur president bare foot. I dnt really care what he does in "his house", but please just spare me the sight. Pictures shldnt be taken is such informal settings for nigerians to see. As a president, leader, pastor, MD, you need to be careful the kind of image u let ur subjects see. Some may call it pretence, but i say..... its a necessary and integral part of leadership to manage the kind of image u portray, that every image must serve its purpose (of which i think this one serves no positive purpose). This includes how you laugh, stand, talk, dress. As long as it is going to be in the glare of ur subjects, either through pictures or whatever... please cut the excesses. I want a mystery around my president, i want an assuring president, i dnt want "see finish" syndrome arnd my president. SO, please.... aides to the president, or anyone here that knows someone that knows any aide, I dnt want to see my president like this again please. If pictures are going to be taken at any meeting, please lets see an official president, and if he decides to where boxers or singlet to any meeting, just spare me the sight please by not letting anyone take his picture. #my personal opinion and i dnt expect anyone to agree with my POV, but if you cnt relate to what i just wrote, then u might not have any business as a leader |
